  1. Thanks for the input everyone!

The layout in both is almost identical.

Why don't you like welded hulls Wayne?

The metal around the welded area is weakend by welding and if the welder uses too much heat it is more prone to cracking. Replacing a popped rivet is less of a problem than having the boat welded back up.

  2. I have 2 milk crates that I carry my tackle boxes, heater, insulated cups, LX-5 and other essentials in. I put them under the seats in my Trekker II (the back leg on the seat assembly folds and the seat sits on the top of the crates). My rods go in a Cabelas rod bag and my auger in a Cabelas Auger Hauler. The last things to go in the sled are a small 6 pack cooler for my bait and a water bottle for coupling my transducer to the ice for depth checks before drilling and a collapsable shovel for clearing snow. Everything packs nice and tightly so it doesn't bounce around while hauling it to the fishing grounds.

  3. Winter seems to be setting here as well in NW Ontario. Not too cold but highs of -10-15 for the extended forecast.

Drifter, I use to work in northern Alberta, and it would get insanely cold too. Sometimes with the windchill it could reach -60 no problem. But the air was much drier there, and it wouldn't feel as cold as in NW Ontario.

Does that hold true for Yellowknife as well??? I mean it's still bloody cold, just a different kind of cold.

    I'm just curious

Yep, same kind of dry liquid nitrogen cold here as in Alberta. :w00t:

  4. This weekend we are going to see our first stretch of Arctic winter weater.

Hopefully some of it will blow your way so y'all can hit the ice. ;)

By next weekend they are calling for highs in the -40's.

I'm going into hibernation on Sunday and will emerge when the temps are more favourable and the chance of damaging equipment lessens. Until then I have a couple of rods that need building. :D

  5. Thankyou for removing us of those who catch fish on the sidehooks from the same bucket as snaggers. Now if someone could tell me how to catch more lakers on a williams ice jig i am all ears.. I get the odd one but i am in no way confident in using it to target lakers with i get most of my lakers on live bait.

I stick a shiner or chunk of cisco on the treble hook to increase my laker hooking percentage.

You will catch fewer whitefish though.

  6. I asked Capt Bruce but he failed to answer, tell me why if we had a concealed carry law in Ontario that this would have had any impact on if that poor girl got shot or not.

Do you think those gangbangers would have cared at all? Not a chance!

Who's a non supporter of guns? I've got half a dozen shotguns downstairs... I'm an avid hunter... Does that mean I need to agree with something like concealed carry in Ontario?

Simple, if one of the other innocents was armed and proficient with his/her firearm they might have been able to take down the gang banger before an innocent person was hit.

Sure, it's no where near a sure thing that things would have turned out differently but there is a far better chance with one or more of the good guys armed than without.

The most important thing is being well practiced and proficient with your firearm.

If you aren't you're no better than the bullet spraying banger.

  7. Thankfully most of the people with guns in TO like to shoot each other. So for the everyday citizen like you and me, we have a better chance of being struck by lightning compared to being shot.

Defend your family all you want, when was the last time you had to?

Talk about making an issue out of nothing.

Tell that to the family of the innocent young girl that was killed in the gang shooting at the Eaton Centre a couple of years back Bill. :(

  8. well they play 12-15 games a month... gotta fit em in somehow... i bet the players prefer back to back games... itll help free up some time...

i feel bad for pro athletes now... i know one of the senators players and he gets no free time... if they arent playing hockey... they are practicing... training... volunteering...traveling... doing fundraisers...

even in the summer they train every day and this guy has some fundraiser every week...

dont get me wrong... they get paid a ton of money... but its not a cakewalk...

They will have plenty of time fer relaxin' when they are comfortably retired at age 40. :whistling:
