I'm still working on perfecting my recipe for deep fried coleslaw

They are cute and they will tug at the old heart strings. I'm sure you will love the puppy to pieces. I'm typing this with the fish thief, peanut, under my chair, and the daughter's kitten sitting om my chest, chewing my buttons and poking at my free typing arm

How else do you contend with civilization's favourite post disaster hobby, looting.

L Dalrymple Resort. Simple cottages, boat rentals. Fantastic fishing for close to T.O.. The owners are decent folk.

Fried, deep fried or sauteed, makes no diff. All very yummy. Fave coating of others at the table would be my beer batter. It's amazing how many people will show up at my place for a pot luck fry.
As for the oil, it's whatever is on sale. Filtering is good, but it also needs to be clarified. As you finish cooking throw a few pieces of potato in before turning off the heat. Potatoes will absorb the residual flavours, juices, etc... that will make oil go cloudy with repeat use. With the crowd I feed that means taters to start. Followed by the main event. Finishing with a last batch of taters.
I also like to take my left over batter, thicken it up with pancake flour, and make deep fried bannock. I was taught there is no waste in bush cooking.
Just thinking about this is making me drool.

School boards post that? My God! the kids might actually learn a fundamental truth or more.

Does that doggy lifejacket come with split rings to attach trebles to?
Just wondering .
I've thought about it, but the dog is much friendlier than the offspring
Besides, who else will quietly listen to my grumbling all day.

Cute pup. Almost as cute as the fish thieving dog.

I dont think so.
I paid $10,000 for my 16 1'2, Lund wanted $19,999.
-
Good grief. We'd only go for one day and with a limited budget at that. You think I would tell my wife about these places? I sure sure hope she doesn't read this.
Thanks for the tips. I know she wants to go more than I do. Yes she loves to shop, and see new places. I'm the lucky one that gets to drive.
Ahh, the sounds of wedded bliss. Cash registers ringing and the husband crying 'why me?'
Remember the three golden rules of marriage: Yes dear. No dear. Anything you say dear. Your ticker will last a lot longer.

Agreed, Lund owners don't envy Legend owners
Yeah, but I paid 1/2 for the exact same package that Lund offered for what is still a couple of pieces of tinfoil some bar stools and a few scraps of carpet pushed by a Merc. Spend the money on the boat or spend it on fishing. Brand loyalty only goes so far.

What a wonderful family vacation. It feels good to have your whole family together enjoying themselves. Those memories are priceless.

I see a bunch of NFNers have migrated over here, when we going on that Muskie Mission Jack ? Me and the bigugli haven't found much on the river except snags around the 406 towards the shipping canal.
They speak this wonderful lost language here that has been lost elsewhere. It's called "FISHING"

If its about dollar value and road time, I would say no. At an hour's distance I go twice a year.
Just keep in mind the saying "if mamma ain't happy, nobody is happy".
Treat it as an adventure. Lots of neat toys and eye candy.

Good solid hull on the Legend. It may not be a thoroughbred, but a solid comfortable workhorse. You can upgrade on the power package. I didn't.
4 stroke all the way, very quiet and clean. I have the 25/4 my buddy has the 25/2. I use up to a third less gas. With the 16'4" side console and 2 persons we do 25 mph full out. Of course I want to enjoy the ride and take in the scenery. Speed is not an issue.
As for service, each dealer has a different level pf performance. Nichol's on Ft Erie has been stellar. The dealer I purchased from has been a turd.

That's just so much fun. Love the looks on the boys faces
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the report!! Those bass at the train bridge are tough to get!!
YOu just weren't giving them what they want

A lot of hair brained schemes and quacks will come crawling out of the woodwork at the first hint of government funding.
-
I doubt they are going to find an easy and profitable solution for disposing of all that carp. Whatever they do it will be expensive, and we don't need any more expensive pipe dreams here in Ontario.

The smiles on the kid's face say it all. I always got a bigger kick out of watching the kids catch fish. WTG dad

Good selection of titles. Usually end up reading LOTR every couple of years along with the Hobbitt. Forgot all about Heyerdahl's books. Been over 20 years.
My fave outdoor books are written by Prof. Sherwood Fox which detail much about the nature and history of the Bruce peninsula. OF course I'm a little biased. Grampa traipsed through the bush with him in the 30's and 40's. Close seconds are London or Mowat.
The nautical adventure is my relax reading. Duley Pope and the 'Ramage' series, Douglas Reeman and 'Richard Bolitho' or his modern naval adventures.

Great report. I bet your son's catch had you grinning ear to ear. Got love that feeling of "that's my boy"

I'm out doing road cleanups with our service club on a regular basis. You would be amazed at people's nerve. There are those that have dumped their trash right as they drive by you.
Of course, there are those who stop and thank us. Some have even brought us coffee. Yup, Timmies.
When possible, I will pick up at shore fishing spots as well, but one bag of recyclables doesn't even make a dent in some of the worst places. Like they say, I alone can't clean up the world, but I can look after my own little corner. Just keep it in perspective.

Slinging suds in the beer garden, or being a carnie, at the Ex 30 years ago was not a great career path either, but it put a lot of cash in the pocket for two weeks of hustle. The bottom rung is still better than no ladder at all.
