  1. Well in my experience every boat up there jigging around has slow fishing. If you're after pike you usually do ok. Musky as always are on and off. I won't be pickerel hunting. I'd rather catch carp.
  2. TBH that's what I was expecting. I thought maybe a little higher than normal, early July conditions. Thanks for the info.
  3. We're going to a cottage west of 64 and leaving 7am. Yeah......"pike."
  4. Hey OFC! I'm about to head north for a week on the west side of the west arm. Just wanted to touch base quick and inquire about the water levels and weedgrowth. Is the cabbage finally thick? Are water levels still relatively high? I'll be taking my boat and don't want any nasty surprises. Hopefully the toothy critters are active and I'll have a pretty great report when I'm back. Ryan
  5. Can't let this one go without a response! Awesome gesture Nipfisher. Truly generous.
  6. Awesome Briant, glad the tripped worked out well. Im pretty sure we raised that same fish off west hardwood on opener. Glad to sew the trip went well.
  7. Chad at Rainbow Sports in Kitchener does removal and full wiring install for $150
  8. Thanks for all the posts guys. I like the sounds of the model. The wide beam is reassuring. Thanks for the link Tiz.
  9. Hello All, I've been searching for a new boat for some time and am getting close to buying one (will need by end of the month). I have narrowed my search to used boats under 4k, Aluminum with a deep hull, 16ft minimum, 40hp minimum. I keep seeing the 16ft Mr Pike model by lund in this range and am hoping for the communities input on their experience with this boat. I will not be fishing the great lakes but want something that can handle lakes up to the size of Nipissing and St Clair. I would also fish the interior of Georgian Bay from Honey Harbor north from time to time, the 1000 islands and the Kawarthas. Thanks
  10. Awesome job Terry. I bought an Outcast Pac 1200 2 person pontoon this year and have loved it too. Great for rivers and lakes.
  11. I recommend the Columbia PFG longsleeve button up fishing shirts and a hat with a back that covers your ears and neck. Obviously a good pair of sunglasses is a must. I fish a lot of 12 hour days, wear little sunscreen and dont burn.
  12. We were stopped on Nipissing this past weekend. They were very pleasant.
  13. You can buy Costas, Revos etc for $60 to $100 (glass lens or pc) from several very reputable websites. No need to cheap out. Make sure you get the right colour for what you typically fish or at least 1 amber based colour and 1 grey based colour. Google search should tell you the rest.
  14. Great job as always Pete. Fantastic fish. I don't fish big carp often but the mirrors that I catch seem to be more aggressive than the more common strains.
  15. If you see any Daces get a picture. I was talking to a few property owners and that picture would benefit us all. Tough task I know.
  16. Kijiji is typically loaded with old fishfinders. I have bought 3 in the last month for a total of $75. They all work, 2 are new. One of them is an alkalined powered piranhamax and it would be my recommendation for a rental boat. I use it on my outcast pac 1200 and it does more than id want it to. 4 8 hour days on cheap home depot AA batteries and still going strong.
  17. I use a LH retrieve. Everyone I see using RH retrieve switches hands as soon as they cast anyway I'll keep my eye out for the model you posted Steve. I am not actually looking for an "all purpose" reel. I plan on buying multiples with different applications but 90% of my bass fishing is as mentioned above so ill start with a slower reel. Thanks for all the input
  18. Thanks guys. I was leaning towards a curado or a revo winch. As my only bait casting experience is for Musky with Musky reels I wanted the bass advice. I already have the rods. I typically fish Rivers when bassing so deep crank applications are few and far between.
  19. Hey everybody, I have recently started bait casting and am looking to pick up a new reel for slower bass applications like twitching xraps and crayfish jigging. I am just wondering what the best ratio is for these applications. I am also interested in reel recommendations in the $100 to $250 price range. Thanks
  20. Ive had a crap day and this made it all the better. Good on you for bringing him in. You'll never regret it.
  21. I had water temps as low as 39 yesterday, was a long winter, season will be slower to start.
  22. Congrats Brad. I grinded for hours and didn't find much. An Osprey caught a 15" brown though, was good to see.
  23. "Get in the Frabil" "Get in the Recon" "My new relationship with Uncle Josh is a winner" "My new relationship with Uncle Josh is a winner winner winner" "Uncle Josh's Meat Leech is a kiiiilllaa" "Uncle Josh's Meat Leech is a kiiillllaaa from Maniiillla" "These St Croix rods are a kiiilllla" This is a VERY typical Joe Bucher episode and are all recent quotes from this season. An 8 to 10 episode season fishing 1 body of water, staying at 1 resort, fishing roughly 4 baits. Oddly enough I still really like his show
  24. Signed on a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee today folks. Thanks for everyone's input.
