Send it to ME!! I usually only get left crank reels now but about the only right crank one I WILL use is my Maina reel. Can always use it for a spare or parts. How much? FT

A guy from another board found them Check out the video on the site. I am gonna have to make some of these.....MUSKY SIZE!!! http://www.lurelore.com/crazyleg.html FT

I too thought maybe Arbogast or Heddon but I can't find anything about them on any of those types of sites. Still looking on the web but nothing so far. Surely SOMEONE has seen 1 or something similar! FT

Same friend who gave me the split cane pole, gave me 2 top water lures I have never seen the likes of. They have a small "propeller" at the rear of the lure...(I know!! Lots of them do!) BUT the difference is that when the propeller turns...the long black wire legs MOVE ALSO!! Can't find anything on the web. Was wondering if anyone can identify them, as there are no markins on them. He said he got themk in the US but can't remember where. Can only add 2 photos as that is max size. allowed but you will get the idea. Hopefully I uploaded then correctly. Thanks for ANY info! FT

I asked the friend who gave me the rod about it and he says he thinks it was made by "Hawk Henshaw" from London, Ont.( but was a long time ago). I tried to google it but came up empty! There are no markings that I can see....maybe it's a homemade one?? Is there some special treatment for them so they don't dry out or are they fine as is!?? Like I said, I am waaaay out of my league on something this thin. Maybe I will try flyfishing now!! Yup Muskies on the fly!!! Now THAT would be a scream! FT
-
Not looking to sell it nor make money off it. I always appreciate the gift as well as the thought behind it! Just don't know much about them....usually fish for Muskies etc. So my poles are little more stiff than this fly rod. Anyone know where the markings would/should be? I will try to get some photos uploaded as soon as time permits Thank you FT

Friend gave me an old Split Bamboo fly rod. Don't know much about them. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to who could've made it/when and any other info etc. I don't want to take it out on the lake if is something of value, but sure does seem to have a smooth action to it! Thanks, FT

Lots of good tips from all. Rob, I went thru this exact exercise 3 years ago!!!! I tried the inflatable but found it too heavy ...to each his own! I tried all different kinds and finally settled on one made right here in CANADA( Guelph or Kitchener!!)!! It is a SALUS "Angler" vest It is BY FAR the most comfortable one I have found....so far. I usually try on anything different that I see. The SALUS ...I usually forget I have it on!! It has so many unique and well thought out innovations that I am still finding new things about it.Pockets/hand warmeers/clips etc. The range of motion is incredible, as I am usually tossing big Musky baits all day. As with all PFD's they should be tested by each person ...in a pool/lake etc. http://www.salusmarine.com/Salus_2006.pdf AG770 on page 15 http://www.topratedadventures.com/Mfg/SalusMarine.htm FT

I will second the suggestion to see Jos at Angling Outfitters. Was there yesterday to ask him ?? on map chips. I walked away with a degree in GPS/fishfinder!!! Man he sure knows his stuff when it comes to Lowrance etc. He even suggested some of the lower priced chips to save $$!!! Better have lots of spare time 'cuz he is one busy dude!! He will always come right back to you to finish the tutorial, even after being tied up on the phone. This guy showed me stuff about my GPS & fishfinder that I am still trying to absorb!! I have a headache ...still! FT

I have an 2007 75 2s and I try to use gas without ethanol. I installed a water seperator filter...just in case. This also allowed me to tap in for my 4str kicker. Do yourself a favour, use some sort of gas stabilizer.( I use Marine Stabil in EVERYTHING that runs on gas).just in case the signs at the gas stations are "mistaken". Shouldn't have any problems on phase seperation. Here is a link to a BBC (Bass Boat Central ) post that is "eye opening" http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=114216 You can drive yourself craaaazy with all the hype on ethanol. Also had a Marine Mechanic I've known for years tell that Hi-test burns different than regular...higher temp or something like that( he lost me along the way in the "splainin" thing) FT

What Wayne said! Lyle at the Trailer Hitch Centre is VERY good. Prices are reasonable and service is top notch. If you are somewhat handy you can do it yourself. These days most vehicles just "plug and play" for the wiring part. The hitch part is not that difficult....if I can do my van....anyone can FT

Rob, I picked mine up at Canadian Tire in south London. Was on sale for $20(1/2 price) So far it is a great setup and piece of mind. FT
-
Rob, I did like Polliwog suggests. I added the kicker line onto the outlet from the water seperator filter. I was like you, looking for the best/easiest way when someone suggested putting in the water filter. I did not have to get any other fitting. Works great!! I did put a quick connect on the kicker hose so no dirtbag can steal it while at the dock...I just take the kicker hose with me, as not too many thieves will bring an extra gas line! FT

need some help about this bracket
Fishn Technishn replied to 12pointer's topic in General Discussion
Been there ...done that! Went thru this "mounting scenario" last year. I asked many questions from many experts on MANY "boards" and best advice was to mount the motor directly to the transom ....if possible. I don't have all the stuff from last year but if you have to use a bracket there is a quick connect bracket so you can remove the whole thing quickly. Will see if I can remember the name. FT -

Help 2 stroke or 4 have to decide now!
Fishn Technishn replied to GeorgeJ's topic in General Discussion
All depends on what kind of boating you want to do! Two years ago, I bought a new 16' dual console and maxed out the HP with a 75 Mercury 2 stroke. I have had both 2 and 4 and they each have advantages etc. I did a lot of research/questions/list/pros/cons!! Almost drove myself (and everyone else nuts)Biggest decision maker was "how do we plan to use this motor, today, tomorrow?" Me, I zip out to where I want to go and then use my Minnkota, don't hardly ever troll as I am mainly a Caster(Musky). Kids like to go tubing/boarding etc a lot. 4 stroke wouldn't get them up as well. So far NO REGRETS. Very little maintenance just routine, key is to be pro-active. THERE ARE SOME 200 MOVING PARTS IN A 4 STROKE AND MAYBE 10 IN A 2 STROKE!! I do 95% of maintenance myself. I currently have a Honda 9.9 for a kicker and it does that job fantastic! Do your research and you will be fine. Just remember that you will sooner or later need to get it serviced ...so make certain that a dealer is close by FT -

In the Dealer's defense, they sent it out to a Hitch shop to have the trailer hitch & cooler installed. Did a great job on the hitch...just "forgot" to add the cooler. Buddy of mine at the dealer showed me on the 'puter that the shop did indeed charge the dealer for it. I guess the dealer's guys never thought to check! They were a little RED in the face when I brought it to their attention. They have been straight and up front about it. I just didn't want to put one on if it was indeed not necessary. After all the advice...it will be going in shortly to have a cooler installed!! Thanks FT

I had the same thought about asking Steve at Lambeth Rod & Tackle on Tues AM but he was closed,. Probably "gone Fishin' So I stopped in at Hully Gully and their price was $299 OUCH!!!! I will check around as I don't have to have it until spring Thanks FT

Bought an 08 Ford Escape recently and put a Class III hitch on it and paid the dealer to install the hitch plus a transmission cooler. Took it in for 1st oil change and lo & behold...no oil cooler. Now the dealer says that the 08 has upgraded cooler built in and an add on cooler is not necessary. Says they will add the cooler if I insist or give me some $$ back if not. Boat package weighs in at 2200 lbs with out all the gear.Any experience/opinions? My 1st thought is that you can NOT have too much cooling while towing. Last thing I need is to blow the tranny on my way to the cottage. Thanks for any/all replies FT

Thank you to all for the replies. This is certainly going to help as I was leaning towards the 2008 Hot Maps chip(yes I know sour cream & bacon chips would be better for all you yucksters!! ) Next question is Anybody got any suggestions as to where is best place to buy in/around London?? Thanks again FT

Wife got me a new GPS for Christmas. It is the Lowrance XOG(crossover). Was wondering what the best chip would be. I fish mostly Kawarthas, Lake St. Clair and Long point Bay. Have heard that the Navionics chips were pretty good?? I DID use the search function but it is still vague. Any suggestions and/or experience would be most appreciated. FT

Need Help With Buying Trailer tire/rims etc
Fishn Technishn replied to a topic in General Discussion
3 years ago when I bought new tires for my last boat, I checked out Walmart. They had 175/80/13 ST radials for $28 each! I think the name on them was Marshall or something similar but they were awesome! I put them on the old rims and they even balanced them for free. When it is time for new tires for the new rig, I will check them out for sure. I will also check out Costco as they also have radial ST setups for a reasonable price. FT -
I attended the Antique Fishing Tackle show this morning in Mount Elgin just off the 401.....WOW!!!!! I was IMPRESSED with the wide variety and quality of the show. Easily the best $5 I have spent in a while. Bought a few things(not telling'cuz my wife reads this too) and LEARNED a TON! Some of the displays were beyond description. I will definitely go again if they have a repeat in the area!! FT
