  1. Posted this awhile ago...The current line of Crucials and Compres are being discontinued. A new design for both models should be released at ICAST in July. So before you buy the old models you might want to wait and check out the new ones. But if you need them now then I know one online store has Crucials on sale for $138 plus they're having a 20% off sale for fathers day...
  2. Picked up 3 spools of Suffix 832 last time they had it on sale for $14 and I think I'm going to have to grab a couple more...I'll have enough braid to last me for 5 years.
  3. The BPS website has the 200 size on sale right now but I suspect they'll put the rest of the sizes on sale soon too. Lots of other online stores are starting to put them on sale...
  4. Looks like Shimano will be re-doing/adding a bunch of new rods and reels this year at ICAST and our boy Dave added some fuel to the fire with some recent pics on Facebook. And if you like the current Curado E series reels, Stradic FI reels, and the Crucial rods then nows the time to pick some up on sale because soon they'll be gone... Rumour Mill
  5. I picked a grocery bag full on Wednesday and still saw lots of small ones that were about to pop up. Its a good year but far from our best.
  6. Sign me up too! Was at the first event but unfortunately couldn't make last years. July definately works better for me and its a great idea to have it all at DC, now people have the opition of camping and we can have a few more "pops" after without having to drive anywhere. Ryan's a great host and its for a great cause that impacts almost everyones life in some way.
  7. The 28th is about all that will work for me. Between weddings, buck and does, and early season honkers September weekends are already booked up.
  8. You can count me in again. Had a great time last year and its for a really great cause that hits close to home for me too. Ryan you have a PM.
  9. Damn if the weather forecast for this weekend didn't look so terrible I'd be down there and beat you to it SRT8. Thanks Ryan now I'm going to be climbing the walls for the next week waiting to get down there.
  10. Nothing better than bass busting frogs in the slop!
  11. I have a bunch of the spros and picked up a few of the River2sea frogs last year but didn't throw them. Looking forward to testing them out this year cuz they look awesome. But I've never really had any problems with the spros. When I miss fish on them its usually my fault, sometimes its hard to wait those few seconds to let them take it. Here's another tip for frog fishing that I've heard about but haven't tried yet...seal the opening around the hook with silicone and then make a small slit in the frogs back. This way it doesn't fill with water as much but still collapses when a fish bites it.
  12. If your interested in Daiwa rods you should check out the Zillions. Great rods.
  13. Count me in. My mom, aunt, grandfather and grandmother have all had cancer. I'll start working on pledges tomorrow.
  14. Man you're hammering them! That water looks awesome too, can't wait to get out and fish some that. Keep the reports coming.
  15. Dude the browns are stacked in that spot!! Is that the biggest you've got out of there so far? Keep the reports coming.
  16. He got to spend time with his uncle, catch a nice fish and got some ice cream at the end of the day. Sounds like a perfect day for a 12 year old to me. He's proabably constantly asking his parents when he gets to go back out with you again. Cut yourself some slack.
  17. If she keeps chomping down on smaller bass its pretty obvious...you need to do like a fly fisherman and match the hatch the best you can... Or if there's any bluegill in the pond then I'm sure she'd kill one of these too...
  18. I looked all over for this lake and cant find it on any map?!?!? Great report! Those are some really nice bass. Can't beat big bass busting a frog or a buzzbait. Sucks that you lost that big one but at least you know where it lives now. Keep us posted on return visits.
  19. What Daiwa reels do you own and are comparing the new Curado to?
  20. Stood at attention and sang it every morning when I went to elementary school. Which wasn't that long ago compared to some of the other posters here. And I always stand attention and remove my hat at hockey, baseball, and basketball games and get disgusted when I see someone with theirs still on. And I dont do because I was "programmed" to do it. I think Jocko got it right, to me its more of a respect thing. There's so many who've given so much for this country that the least I can do is stand for a couple minutes to show my respect for that and all that I have because of it.
  21. ...But just to make it clear, I dont agree with OOS fishing. Just common sense. It was an accidental catch that was released quickly. If you're going to jump all over him you'd better check out splashhoppers post and give his little girl some of the same grief.
  22. Just try to ignore the OOS protesters. They just love to jump on these threads. Great looking fish though, just too bad it was OOS. You just have to wait till next weekend when those "nesting" bass magically adandon their nests and fry because they know we're after them. Then you wont have to feel guilty for accidentally catching them.
  23. Skeet Reese used it to win the Classic so I think it might work... Personally haven't tried them yet though. I prefer beavers if I'm flippin plastics. I'm interested in knowing how they work though so make sure you give us a report after next weekend.
  24. Nice report. That's a good perch for that lake. I always did much better with crappie there than I ever did on perch. I love a good feed of rock bass too, I dont know why people look down on them so much. Tough luck about the truck though. That ended up being quite an expensive feed of rock bass. I cant wait to hit that place up for bass as soon as it opens. There's definately some big fish in there and its a fun lake to fish. Keep the reports coming.
  25. You might as well just get 2 combos now, especially with some of those deals at Gagnon. Pick up a 6'6 MH for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits and then get a 7'+ H for frogs and jigs. Then I would suggest you use your original combo #1 as your new jerkbait combo and it would also make a good small topwater combo too. Lots of guys prefer to use spinning gear for jerkbaits anyway. And if you dont like using the spinning combo for jerkbaits then just throw them on the 6'6" combo. Also the Citica is a great reel for the money but the Curado E7 would make a great jig and frog reel.
