  1. It would be kind of hard to put plankton on a hook though.
  2. 3' watermelon pattern tube. She hit it like a freight train. Mind you these were caught in July in the mighty Niagara, so weather or not they are "steelhead" or rainbows, i really dont know. Like solopaddler, I like to drift micro tubes under a float, they work best tipped with a waxworm.
  3. I've seen the commercial boat in Thornbury selling incidental bows fr 5 bux a piece. He would put a sign on his truck: "back at 4:30" I asked the C.O if theres anything he could do about it one day, he said "cant do anything, they're self regulated". We both just shook our heads.
  4. you know what they say...."rain before seven, gone by eleven"
  5. small float, light line, small hook, live minnow, enough weight to get the bait down in the zone. Berkley gulp or realistic minnows would work in place of live. In fact sometimes plastics are easier to present than live. You could even try a small (1/32) jig head tipped with live or plastic minnow, under a float.
  6. LOL no doubt, with tubes and ultralight gear too i bet.
  7. These were the two most acrobatic fish i have ever encountered. Both were caught mid-day on a watermelon pattern tube. (while fishing for bass)
  8. I fished it on the Sunday. It was over at 2:00, I wieghed in a fish at 1:30 that was 2/8" of a inch out of 3rd place, however it did outweigh the 2nd and 3rd place fish. It was 4.1 lbs, I believe 2nd place fish was 3.8 lbs First and second place fish were both 18.9", 3rd place was 17.8". Im not 100% sure about the pike category, but i think the leading fish was only about 24 or so inches. While i was regestering my fish, they were measuring a pretty big perch, i bet it was 9- 10 inces. Im not sure on the crappie.
  9. Detailed report early in July.
  10. Awesome! Im actually heading up that way on Saturday. 7 days at my favorite place on earth, Kesagami Lodge!
  11. I use leftys only now-a-days, but when i used to use righties I would cast out with my right, switch hands while the lure is in the air, and feather/ stop the spool with my left hand. Its a really quick motion--pretty much right after the rod unloads my left hand would come off the butt and takes the reel out of my right hand. Anyone else use this method?
  12. Im not sure about the Rocky, but i do know that some old deeds do include riverbeds. The upper Credit near belfountain has some privately owned riverbeds, and i believe mabey a few properties in Hockley may as well.
  13. I tried it last year. It's not very round. It was ok on a baitcaster, but not so great on a spinning reel. Its not as immune to twist as other, rounder braids.
  14. When I'm fishing 2.5-4 inch gulp minnows under a float i use Lunker city darter jig heads. They are deadly in the right circumstance. They hold the gulp material very snug. These are highly reccomended. (dont tell anybody).
  15. Great report, amazing fish! I have to ask tho, is Kesagami's single barbless hook policy not valid in the winter?
  16. Nice fish! If you dont mind me asking, how deep was the water you were fishing, and how much line did you have under your float? I cant get jig fishing dialed in like my bait fishing. thanks.
  17. We were right behind you guys all weekend. Sean brought that walleye over to our hut for a look. Really nice fish! We diddnt get anything huge. 3 or so eyes, bunch of perch, and a 5 lb whitefish. We diddnt fish all that much to be honest. However sean gave us the award for most brown pops consumed this season. Were you guys getting all kinds of mud puppies too? we must have gotten 7 or 8 of the little suckers.
  18. Its very soft but also very, very strong. Not as bad as some other braids when it comes to cutting fingers up. If visibility is an issue, use a black magic marker on the last 3-4 feet. I really like this line. It does however seem to have a bit bigger diameter than other braids of the same pound test rating. although that may be just perception because of the light colour.
  19. Angling Specialties In Mississauga or Vaughan. They have everything you could possibly need. Blades, beads, bearings, bodies, wires, hooks. Look up there locations online. Their prices are really good too. They have spinner bait and buzzbait blanks too.
  20. Amazing, simply amazing. we rented a couple 12 foot tinnys and fished Lillabell for a full day before we flew out last year. We got about 100 pike each. It was a nice primer for the real fishng up at the lodge. we're doing it again this year. We're booked for June 20th this year, see ya up there. Save us a few 40's!
  21. Well, how did it go? I just seen your partner's facebook status. It said he got 9 chromers. That's a great day for sure! How was the ice flow situation?
  22. hopefully a steelhead report after this comming weekend
