  1. D'OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. once you get one, you are prone to more. it takes less and less effort/contact to get them and this is why so many players are done and were in their prime when they called it quits. I have had 7 or more from hockey and cannot play it anymore because of that. I still say Avery will be the goon to go after him.
  3. even so, if it isn't relevant to the site in any way the admin's can remove it and will because it's a waste of space and time. some times we members try and inject some fun in things and it's over the line so poof, it's gone. other times, the topic falls off the tracks completely so poof, it's gone or locked. and some times, people post things that are so far from being revelant to the board in anyway, poof, it's gone. If you are concerned, pm an admin for direction. some people will even flag a post for the admin's to notice it (as they do have a life outside OFC ya know ) and then one will read the post and decide what to do.
  4. there have been a few real good points made so far so here they are quick and easy to read (plus my comments) bring the rod you intend to use to the store. tis is so you can get a good balance and not be to tip heavy or to light. bearings and drag. don't count the bearings and make sure the drag is smooth like butter and it's not made from el-cheap-o-parts. local shop. not only can they help you with the reel you decide to go with (as I'm sure they mave even have an older one kicking around that is new in the box that they would love to make a deal on) but find out what brands they can service under warranty and out of warranty. would you rather drive an hour or more for service or get it done locally? lastly, by being a regular at your local shop, they get to know you and might offer up some extra info next time you go in for advise (as long as you are a paying customer not a window shopper). like, what's working best on trib xyz, lake x is slaying the abc123 right now with 321zyx. or they may even just start offering you better than sticker price because you are in there spending your hard earnd money in a store they work so hard at to keep open. you never know. but going in blind here and not knowing at your budget I say a Stradic is a fine reel. have you checked the classified here as well? I have seen some great deals right here!
  5. something like that is what I'm looking to change it to, cheers.
  6. yeah, when testing I took the hook off after the 1st test I didn't want to have a new piercing
  7. the best part is Brian, I can set it reel soft or like in the pic. If I set it the soft way (that I intend to use it) you might not have seen the rod loaded up at all in the pic. I did a bit of over-kill in the pic to show what it does.
  8. You are correct and I thought the NYR tonight, not the NYI. I still stand by my comment though. Avery being the dirty buggar he is will be the one gunning for #87.
  9. Oh, I'm sure he will then he'll run and hide and let someone else drop the gloves. Yes, I am using my outside voice here...
  10. thanks Nick. I used 2 nails, then covered in tube to hold the line still. I might make or buy a clip of some sort though...
  11. I sure hope Avery doesn't go after him...
  12. Thanks Spiel
  13. I have read it on many boards and CO's say it's fine. it's a line down rigger and you can buy them all over the place. this is the one I got the idea from http://www.icefish.com/catalog/inventory.php?fam=110&cat=152
  14. it's a rod holder that I cut shorter http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/SportsRec/Fishing/RodReelCombos/PRD~0783321P/Berkley+Spiral+Rod+Holder.jsp?locale=en
  15. I have seen a few of these rod holders that keep your line in place so I decided I would try and make one. So far go good but I might make a change to it...
  16. some real nice looking fish guys! To bad I missed it this year...
  17. man, that is SO COOL! Now you just need to get him fishing and posting here too...
  18. good one.
  19. better late than never, happy belated and I hope you had a good one Lew.
  20. Well, like the title says; does a big fish in the first 5 min. of fishing jinx the rest of your day? Thoughts? This came from a chat in the boat today and from what happenednd in the boat today with Jigger... Geoff
  21. I hear via BBM from CCMT that the wind has calmed down and the area they are fishing is good (bbm msg was at 3pm). He's even got a nice big pickereye and pic's to show off when they all get back from the weekend.
  22. Looks like Jigger and I are heading out fishing.
  23. I just left u a vmail
  24. I find a floor mat with a rubber bottom works better for the feet on the ice and you can roll it up for packing. as for a deal, I was at the Whitby North CTC yesterday and they had #6 Nanofil line on for $13.99 and all other #'s were reg. price. Going to try it ice fishing this season as it's been ok for me (#12 that is) during the soft water season.
  25. I would go but Brooklin to the Barrie area after a 6AM hockey practice isn't a fun drive. I would love to be out on the water fishing today. Anyone close feel free to msg me too...
