  2. Hey "Bond".. did you attend Benson's "wake" over there? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/mor...icle6737929.ece
  3. I found one in my price range.. Almost free I can tell by the pic that it isn't a high end unit, but the price is right and the guy says it doesn't leak. We'll see.. lol I am planning on using it on local conservation type ponds/ lakes. Any pro's and con's or concerns that I should be aware of before I drop the "big dough" ? Thanks Splashhopper
  4. Take the battery out of the phone and let it dry for a good week or two... keep the back off... and put a small fan on it..

  10. I am in this pic because my 7meg camera got wet in the last rainstorm... Gonna replace it,, and buy one of those floatable holders for phones and cameras that a guy on a kayaka was using yesterday
  11. Thanks.... this post helps me in many ways other than fishing pics...
  12. [ I wouldn't look at anything that doesn't say the motor runs good or great... and then still be cautious! Buy a set of muffs (you're going to need them anyway) to take with you when you look at a motor and ask if you can crank it, a compression gauge would be a very good idea as well. Take some screw drivers with you and ask if you can look at the dope in the foot, if it's cloudy/milky or has metal shavings in it run away! I got burnt on my first motor and wished I had done these things... I hope this helps! Muffs? Foot? ,, being the end where the prop is attached? Thanks again.
  13. When I am fishing alone... I can only lie the fish down for a quick pic or two before I release it.. what else can I hold the fish against to show its true size. thanks again

  15. I have started watching Kijiji for small boats(12-14ft) with a motor or a sq back canoe with motor. If I end up with a tin boat, I my want a trailer, otherwise it will go on the roof of my van.( I think?) Many of the listings in my price range( under 1500 complete) say the motor " runs but just needs a tuneup". Assuming the motor isn't euchered, what is involved in a tuneup for an outboard motor and can I do one on these myself? I am fairly handy with a wrench. What else should I be asking about with the motor? If the boat is on land, how can i tell if it is leaking or not? Thanks Splashhopper
  16. nothing like the post by "24/7" today.... AWESOME post btw As some of you know, I have just started top-water fishing about 4 weeks ago... what a "blast".. Here are some of the results over the last 5-6 days . a "head shot"... amazing how much weeds I can see between its mouth and the gill plate Fishing the lily pads... first cast about 10 feet from shore... WHAMMO! on my newest colour of :scum frog"! Check out the size of his bucket > Went out tonight on my "practice pond" and had a very pleasant surprise. The guy who owns the house that I park in front of brought his canoe down tonight and asked if I wanted to join him Turns out he has watched me fish this top water stuff for a few days from his yard and was "impressed"... yeah, I told him.. I have some "great coaches" from this site He toured me around the edges where I fish from shore to give me another "point of view"... Interesting that I was fishing the same spots as he was showing me, but I was targeting the water further off shore than I needed too my first cast in "to" the spot I always take my first cast of the day "from",,,, and surprise... Kapow! This one I caught after I pulled the frog down from a tree ON the bank... it barely hit the water and BAM ! I gave him my favourite colour of "Scum frog" for his "guide service". I have been trying to set up a trade for my services for a tinny or a canoe with an Electric motor.... tonight just makes me that more focused on that little project...lol Splashhopper
  17. great report... love the video..... the "wheelie" with the boat was pretty kewl too.

  19. how kewl was that!
  20. excellent report and story... How far north is "the cabin" ?
  21. still doesn't answer my original question though....lol why don't they look like the actual size when i am holding it.. vs.. when it is laying on the ground? I think it is the lack of girth not being seen when it's laying on the ground..
  22. still doesn't answer my original question though....lol why don't they look like the actual size when i am holding it.. vs.. when it is laying on the ground?
  23. i have re-posted this to the photograph section...on the extra resources section. i think it has to do with the background I take the pics on,.. ie flat surface i try to put my rod in the pic for length verification for the "fish tale lawyers" in the crowd ! lol
  24. I have noticed on the few pics that I take when I am fishing solo that the pics don't do the fish justice in terms of its size and girth.. But when someone is with me and snaps the fish of me holding it... the fish looks like it does in real life? example >>> This fish is my PB and it was huuuge.... but the pic just doesn't do it justice by any means. Does anyone know? Thanks Splashhopper
  25. i will need to find a good tree to set the camera up on then
