  1. I would like to receive a fishfinder (?) that i can use on my canoe next year. Any suggestions for a newbie to fishing "on the water" as to what I should be looking for in a small unit would be appreciated. I think I want to be able to read depth of water, maybe some structure and temps too ? (Please write it in plain language as my daughter "might" be watching this for Christmas presents for me or even post a link to the product. ) What do you want for Christmas ( Fishing related only) ? Thanks Splashhopper
  2. glad I am not living there.... or drinking my face off anymore for that matter lol
  3. ummm.. .this "fish " could use my largest bass as an appetizer WTG and thanks for ruining my winter! ..lol
  4. I recently caught a Black and Decker skill saw ( battery type with no battery)... was fishing a narrow section of a river under a bridge.... there was also a lawn mower too far out to reach at the same spot .. Hooked into a couple of grocery buggies, had a helluva time bringing those to shore.... they are still there as far as I know ( Thames river in London... what a cesspool ) and last but not least,,, i have caught the back of the leg of my waders a few times....
  5. thanks for sharing that.... sounds great and I like the Bar W mystery
  6. WTG Frozen-fire..... u da man !! I am still skunked for this season and it got even more frustrating when I started using my centre pin for the very first time last weekend.
  7. no worries bri.... since the dam broke last year at Springbank.... the fish have all but disapeared all through the Thames in London.... and what little is left looks like it was born in the sewage treatment plant.
  8. check the intro on one of his other videos..... Hillarious
  9. welcome to the board Chuck and Linda.... we LOVE pictures with our stories ( a lot of us use Photobucket to upload them from- FREE) So get that line wet and come back with a few pics..... a guy like me in Southwestern Ontario really appreciates adventures from the near north. Splashhopper
  10. when the water freezes
  11. what? No pics? Huh What did you say ? I can't hear you !
  12. if those fish are " nothing too big"... i would love to see one that you consider BIG
  13. The time stamp is within a minute of my post.... looks like I can call Botbot off now You will definately fit in with this crowd Josh,.... U made a mistake and Manned up. Welcome aboard.... Hope to see some of YOUR fish too
  14. Josh..... I am VERY surprised at YOUR REACTION to the feedback that YOU asked for. ( see your last post) I think an APOLOGY is in order on your part.... I am pretty sure that a responsible show would NOT want an employee representing their show in your manner.... But then again, maybe they do when, there seems to be a pretty common theme with the comments about the hosts attitude to their guest on the show.... maybe that all flows downhill to the employees.... I can tell you this from my own experience on this board.... there is all kinds of help and experience here that you do NOT want to alienate by your reply. This board has been very helpful to a newbie like my daughter and I. So, I am going to take the liberty of inviting you to read a post I put up a few months ago when some other new member on the board came in got HIS nose out of joint based on HIS OWN actions. I hope you will receive this in the spirit it is re-posted.... it is meant to be HELPFUL and to invite you to look at your OWN role in the responses to YOUR response to our feedback of YOUR first post. ................................................................................ ................................. Here are a couple of quick suggestions for newbies ( like I was a short while ago) starting out on this board: 1) Tell us about yourself and the fishing you like to do. 2) Post some pics of your latest adventures... they don't have to be big fish either 3) Respond to other posts on the site.... it takes a "community" to make a board... please participate 4) Stick to the topic of the particular threads. 5) PLEASE DON'T post honey holes on the board.... even if YOU THINK "everyone" knows about them anyways... 6) If you are looking for directions to other fishermen s "honey holes"... don't bother asking.... they are honey holes for a reason. 7) Ask questions about the type of fishing you want to participate in.... lots of great help here 8) PLEASE don't attack other members on the board.... if you have a beef with them... send them a PM and deal it with like adults. 9) Enjoy your experience here and if you do,, tell others about it.... 10) Check out the sponsors ads once in a while ... maybe they do have something you need/want and just don;t know it yet 11) Click on the tab above that says " our anthem" My daughter and I have benefited from the very generous support and encouragement of many of the members here. I hope you do too. Sincerely, Splashhopper PS... if you don't come back with a new attitude, I will sick the 2009 Canadian National Taekwondo Champion on yer ass...( 52 lbs of pure MEAN kicks right to your ribs ! ) lol
  15. Princess Auto has 4 litre jugs of it on sale right now... $19.99 First time I noticed it was available in a pump format vs aerosol So, how do i get the stuff out of the pressurized can?... Just spray it?
  16. Tried the elastics... tried tape.... still lose the darn things I sprayed the crap out of it this am... van is smoking like crazy for a few minutes burning that off...
  17. No matter how i try to keep that little red tube secured to the can, it disappears So now I have three cans of the stuff and no little red tubes to attach to the nozzle... Does anyone know if there are other tubes available? Or another method of spraying the stuff where I want it to go( confined space) Or another product even that has a different extended nozzle.. I am about to change the thermostat on my van and don't think it has ever been changed before,.... So I want to soak the crap out of the bolts BEFORE I try to undo them. Thanks
  18. welcome back.... love your reports...
  19. The "intertrib communications" I wanted had to do with staying in touch with a fellow OFC member to confirm a meeting time for fishing the next day. ( I didn't have a phone number for the guy except in the PM he sent Although, it would come in handy so I could keep track of how long some of Union / Anti union posts go before the topic is closed on a whim
  20. When I am bringing it back upstream...i reel very very slowly and let it pause and flutter to the bottom... then reel again
  21. amazing report..... keep em coming... at least I am SEEING them caught
  22. Might have to get a different float for night then I find the green mini lights hard to see if there is a lot of light pollution around.... Try and find red ones... even a blind guy like me can see those babies
  23. Thanks Ultyma.... I will give the Blackberry one a try this weekend.
  24. I cast spoons and spinners upstream and get the slack out of the line asap... keeping the rod tip high as the current brings the lure in front of me... then slowly lowering the rod tip to keep pointing at the lure.... as I feel the lure slow its action on my rod I then start to slowly reel the line in... intermittently...letting it rest... This method worked great for me last year.... But this year,,, no matter what I try... no chrome for me As for night fishing being done due to your work schedule.. Get a float with a spike at the top of it.. then attach a light to it.... when the light starts glowing UNDER the water... set the hook bro... I LOVE night fishing with a lighted float
  25. When I am away fishing, i don;t have access to a computer so I rely on my Blackberry. Someone suggested that I use the Lo-Fi version on the site .... it works well enough for reading the posts..... but I can't seem to find the option to reply to any PM's that are sent.... One I wanted to get back to when I was away too Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks Splashhopper
