  1. I need a spotter for a one day salmon tournament held out of bluffers park. As a spotter you get a chance to go out the water for day and learn some great techniques from some of the best salmon fisherman around. All spotters must attend a mandatory meeting on Friday Aug 3rd in the evening and then be ready to go by 5:30am on saturday august 4th. This is a lot a fun and a great chance to spend a day on a boat with a bunch of pros. Here is a link to the tournament with more information. http://www.enticerlures.com/Shootout/index.htm Anyone interested please pm me asap. Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  2. The fish are getting bigger by the week, so get out there and have a go at some of the best Salmon fishing in North America. Cheers AL www.alsadventures.ca
  3. Managed to get out today with my girlfriend Kathy today for some salmon fishing. We started off a little slow but the day picked up as we found some warmer water. The surface temps ranged from 47 to 54 depending on where we were fishing. Every rod in the program fired today with, the braided diver being the best of the bunch. Here a couple pics of the bigger kings we caught. One was close to 24lbs on my scale. All fish were released for another day. We ended up 14-18 today with a 4 rod spread, a couple of bows but mostly kings between 11-18lbs. Good luck to all anglers in week 2 Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  4. I finally had time to fish on the beautiful Kawartha Lakes for bass with some Clients of mine from the States. After an entire winter of waiting for bass, I rigged up about 10 rods with a variety of different weapons including some, buzz baits, spinner baits, Pig + Jigs, Tubes, and various plastic weed less baits. The weather was perfect with cold nights that created for those picture perfect steaming lake mornings. Top water was defiantly the game plan for the first couple hours. I managed to get a couple nice largemouth on the top water with some great boils to go with it. The keys to our success was fishing 3-8foot weedy heavy cover areas with buzz baits and, Rapala skitter pops in early morning. Here are some pictures of some large mouth caught on the surface Joel with his first Canadian Largemouth ever Joel with another Largemouth A nice Smallmouth Joel caught on a Jig right off a 15 foot weed edge Katie with a nice Largemouth on the ultra light tackle Katie with another nice Bucket mouth We caught a handful of pan fish including some nice size blue gills, perch and crappie Little ultra light tackle tournament, Joel hooked up on a small micro jig As sun came up we ended fishing deeper weed edges and fishing a lot of pockets with jig + pigs. Later in the afternoon once the bite was slowing down, we turned too the ultra light tackle for non stop action. It was a great time, and I will be back out for the Start of the Great Ontario Salmon Derby this weekend. Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  5. I had a half day trip yesterday off Toronto Islands, with a local Toronto family. The morning was little slow but I managed to find a really nice warm water pocket that was holding tons of pike. The surface temp in this area was ranging between 63-66 degrees and the weed growth was mint. We ended up boated 4 really nice pike, biggest was around 9lbs. All fish hit spinner baits rolling at various speeds over and around the dense weeds. With the polarized glasses on I saw tons of pike and carp and, even saw a couple catfish and one largemouth. I am off to the kawarthas on Sunday and Monday but will be back next week to start some serious Salmon fishing. here are a couple pictures of the pike trip Have a great long weekend Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  6. The Pike were moving fast, a few were airborn just like a tarpon. It was a lot of fun. Cheers AL www.alsadventures.ca
  7. The fishing is only getting better with the great weather we have had. I managed to get out three times this past week and I met some great people while on my guiding adventures. John Hoffman is an Owner of a fishing academy in Boston. What a great business, and a really interesting guy, he runs a Non-profit organization and the goal is to take inner city kids off the streets and get them into nature. I really liked his idea so I met up with him in St.Catherines for some Salmon fishing. Check out the website at www.thefishingacademy.org Here is a guy with a great vision. A couple pictures of his Van What a great slogan, I love it John and I had a great day on the water and it was a tough bite but we managed to boat 4 Salmon in less than 5 hours. I was too busy chatting with him to bother with the camera. Spoons were the key to our success with Michigan Stingers, NKS being the best pick of the bunch. We had one really good chance of my wire dipsy with an a-tom-mik fly. The next adventure off the week was casting for Pike off the Toronto Islands. Francisco and Jeff came from Guelph to experience their first real day of pike. We found a nice area with some great weed growth and warm surface temps. The baits of choice were Rapala X-raps, and Rapala Husky Jerks. The day started off with a bang. Jeff with a nice Toronto pike. Sometimes I even forget how nice the Toronto Island area is. It is hard to believe that you are so close to the big city catching pike. We saw tons of wild life including, a beaver dam, ducks, swans, tons of carp and pike. Here are some ducks on a sail boat “Mom and Dad” Pike on a spinnerbait Francisco with a nice pike Francisco with another nice pike Release Shot Don’t forget your spreaders and proper tools when fishing pike Salmon tommorow then, Musky hopefully later in the week. Cheers AL www.alsadventures.ca

  10. This week I fished both Pike and Salmon in Lake Ontario. The Salmon are slowly starting to show up on the north shore. There is a mixture of Rainbows, Coho and Chinook Salmon out there right now. The keys to my success have been using a variety of my favorite Spoons. Key colors have been Green and Silver and Black/ Silver. Flashers and A-tom-mik tournament flys have also been hot. Here is a picture of a client with a nice 23lb Chinook I managed to get out with a good friend of mine for a few hours of piking on Lake Ontario. Unfortunately a huge storm forced us off the water early. Always better too be safe then sorry. Here are a couple pictures from the pike outing. The keys to my success were twitch baits such as Rapalas’ Husky Jerk, and X rap. Off for Musky this week Cheers AL www.alsadventures.ca

  15. I managed to get out fishing the last couple of days with client of mine from England for some Salmon fishing. Buzz had never caught a Salmon before and it was on his, “too catch list”. We spent two days down in St.Catherines, where there is some fine spring fishing right now. The Monday of the long weekend was Buzz’ first taste of Lake Ontario fishing. Here are a couple pictures of Buzz from day 1 Sunset Monday evening Day 2 was a great morning will less boats on the pond and a beautiful sunrise we thought the fish would be on. Sunrise Tuesday am Buzz fighting a fish Nice spring king Another nice silver king King coming in Another king for buzz The fishing was good we ended up 17 for 22 in less than 7hours and Buzz was loving every second of Lake Ontario Salmon fishing. We hit most fish on the riggers but the wire dipsys were also firing. All fish that we caught were released for another day. Release Shot Special thanks to John, at Tightlines fishing shop in Pickering for helping me get ready and Okuma, A-tom-mik flies and dreamweaver. Will be back at it again soon. 24. Managed to get out one more time before the Ice fishing season comes to an end on Thursday. We headed out to Jacksons Point for some Lakers and Whitefish. I ended up 2/2 with one Laker and one Whitefish and Shaun had some touches but no fish landed. It was a pretty slow day with most of the action coming early in the morning. Both fish that were landed came off the spreaders on the bottom with minnows. Here is a picture of our two man hut.
