The place was packed with families that were staying there for the weekend. It's fun to see those kids catching panfish, and yelled with joy when they landed one. As for the Carp, we saw lots of them were cruising around pretty fast, maybe this one just woke up from its afternoon nap

We decided to try a new fishing spot and arrived at around 2pm, paid our entrance fee and immediately set up our stuff along the shore. The water was clear and wave action was at minimum. Tons of Sunfish hanging along the shoreline accompanied by some baby Smallmouth. Since we were trying to target Walleye, I immediately cast out my trusty jerkbait. As I reel it in, I realized that a school of Rock Bass chasing my jerkbait. After 20 minutes of casting, I figured Walleye wouldn't be around until dusk, I then changed to use a minow like bait under a float. Once I casted it out, a Rock Bass was on. We were able to catch tons of Rock Bass within a short period of time. Boat traffic was pretty heavy, and that really turned off the fish. After an hour of no action (you can still see fish all over, they just didn't want to eat), we saw several Carp cruising around. We then decided to switch to corn and hopefully land one of the Carp. We missed 2 and finally landed our first ever Carp which was 33 inches~! It wasn't fighting as hard as we would have imagined. After the Carp action, we wanted to try some more fishing, so we started to walk all over the area again. We were able to catch several more Rock Bass, a single Crappie. After a little more walk, we found an area where we accidentally caught 3 Smallmouth and a Largemouth (around 1 to 3 lbs range all released). We finished our day at 830pm (they close at 9pm). Too bad we weren't able to get our target fish since they were at deeper water. First Rock Bass of the day Nesting Sunfish Sunfish that hit a crankbait The 33 inches Carp (OFC Community.com is written on that paper~!) A nice sunset in Rice Lake

I really think it depends on what kind of prey your tube is going to immitate.

Jig and grub will be my first choice. But it really depends on the weather. After a cold front or a day after weekend, fish will be slow, jig and grub is the way to go. But when it's cloudy and wavy, you can try jerkbait along the weededge.

I've been fishing for walleye in Rice Lake(Bewdley side). Fishing was good last week, but yesterday because of it's right after saturday and sunday, the fishing pressure was very high, as well as the weather condition, fishing was slow. I'm sure it will turn back to normal during weekdays. The weeds in Rice is growing extremely fast right now, a sign of good fishing season this year.

Thanks for the report~! Nice to see families go out fishing together Keep us up to date on the tadpoles

I also heard that last saturday and sunday fish were biting ok, only monday was bad. At least we were not empty handed

Arrived at the dock at around 6am. The wind was calm, the lake was like a mirror, and the seaweeds were all grown up After getting the boat, we immediately head out to our fishing spots. To our surprise, there weren't too many boats around. At first, we were using huskie jerkbait. After 2 hours of drifting, I was able to catch a Crappie, and my brother caught a out of season Largemouth bass both with the jerkbait. We then decided to head to deeper waters, same as usual, we drift all over the place and we switch our lure to jig and grub. There were totally no action, until my brother caught a 12 inches Walleye in 12 feet of water. 3 hours passed with no action (no action from boats around us as well), we decided to head to another spot where there were shallow water and deep drop offs. Once again I caught a Crappie and that's it. Seem to me all the fish stopped feeding or became very alert after the cold front and the sunny sky. One funny thing was that the wind direction kept on changing, at one point we were actually drifting in circle. At 1:30pm, we finally gave up and head back to shore. After parking the boat, we saw tons of Sunfish and Perch swimming happily around the dock, we threw in our small minnow like lure, but they were not bitting except one. Right before we pack up our stuff, I dropped my lure into the water, then I saw several huge Carp swam close to my lure, then my rod bended hard, but after two second, it got back to normal. I think one of the Carp accidentally sucked my lure but since I wasn't really concentrating on my line, the Carp spit out the hook. Overall it was a fishing that has no action, but it's always better than going to school or work A very hungry Crappie The only Sunfish that took my lure (fishing from the dock)

We have to plan ahead to buy several horses to pull our boats (SAILING Bass boats). All those government environmental talk is a way for them to get big bucks. If they really want $$$ to research for the environmental friendly mode of transportation, I'm sure they can find the $$$ from all those free golf pass, $3 million office refit for Toronto's Mayor, $1 million airfare from our Ontario Preimer. With 50% on gas, heating fuel, electricity, does our government want Canadian to stay home not going anywhere, start farming, and burn wood to keep warm in an apartment?

Just keep trying Never give up I remember last year, I lost my lucky fishing hat; after the next day I tried to fish, I couldn't catch anything. Then I thought deeply, if I'm a good angler, I shouldn't just depend on luck or lucky items. Fish are there, just keep trying

OMG~ Thanks for the map~! That's what I've been searching for~!

It is a busy lake, when you see tons of people fishing in the same area, go to an empty place. There are always fish avaliable all around the lake

My father, my brother, and I arrived at 797-BOAT Rental at 6am. We were surprise to see there were already a large number of boats already fishing. We got our boat at around 615, and immediately head to a spot far away from the crowd (we hate too many boats around while fishing)~! The wind was strong and the waves were a bit rough, but we managed to control our drift speed by lowering our anchor half way down. We were using jerkbaits and after 10 minutes of casting, I hooked up an out of season bass. 20 minutes later, we caught a 16 inches Walleye, 3 more casts later a 25 inches Walleye~! We all lost at least a couple walleye each, they were so aggressive that they chased our lure right beside our boat. 15 minutes passed and my dad suddenly yelled "Fish on~! It's heavy~!" Our heart rates immediately speed up~! As he reel in I saw the fish, it was HUGE~! It kept on fighthing and trying to dive under the boat. My dad managed to keep it under control. After 5 minutes of battle, we finally net it; to our surprise, it was a 35 inches Muskie (first for our family)~! It is very rare for anyone to catch a Muskie near Bewdley. After that excitment, all the fish seemed to disappeared. We had a theory that the Muskie were trying to feed and chased away all the fish Overall, we caught 3 Walleyes (the last one was 14 inches), around 10 Crappies 5 of them by jerkbait, 5 OOS Largemouth, and a Sunfish. A cute little Sunfish Crappie The 25 inches Walleye

They are planning on adding movie, wine, garbage tax.... Sometimes I wonder, where did our property tax go? As for the gas..... if demand is low, they'll increase the price; if the demand is high, they'll still increase the price. I so want to see how much they'll bump up the price when there's one small hurricane in the states.

Second piking adventure...success (with a sweet surprise)!
Steelcat replied to frozen-fire's topic in General Discussion
Judging from the clothings you guys wear in the picture, I think I saw you two landing a pike yesterday. I think I was fishing too early yesterday, maybe I should go to the island in the afternoon like you instead of early morning. Thanks for the report, makes me wanna try it out again. -
Well there's no stopping them on the price gouging. The government has already said they are not going to look into the price gouging problem and the oil company is enjoy the fruit of record earning. The higher the gas price, the more tax the government will be able to receive so they are in the same boat. As for us, not much can be done. Right now, the gas company is raising up the price for them to have yet another record for the summer season.

I took the 8am ferry to Ward's Island. While I was in the ferry, there was a VERY nice lady with a dog sitting across me. She politely asked if I was going to fish. Then she suddenly "ordered" me to move away. I asked her why, and she replied, "Why are you killing all the fish? You know fishing kill will kill things right?" She then asked me again, "Can you go paint a bamboo as a hobby? Painting a bamboo will not kill~!" I just ignored her and moved on. An interesting way to start my fishing day..... After I arrived, I immediately started to cast my lures. Saw several Bass and one Pike cruising along the shore. I tried to target Pike until 12pm, then I changed to target Carp. I was using corn under a float, after the corn enter the water, the Carp started to appear. I was getting all excited since my corn attracted them to group around. But then I realized there's something wrong. They were circling my float as if they were dancing a "We don't wanna eat your corn dance". Then I saw some bottom disturbance close to shore so I slowly reel my corn to the area, within a second, my float went under..... I was all excited, then I saw a bullhead. Overall I caught two bullheads, 13 inches and 15 inches. At least I caught something today............ I'll for sure go back and try my Pike again The lovely Toronto Downtown A huge dead pike Reeling in the 13 inches bullhead The 15 inches bullhead

Yesterday we were catching Crappies with pink/white tube 1.5 meters below the float. We drifted at 7 to 9 feet deep of water.

Arrived at the Rice Lake at around 6:20 in the morning. We could already feel the light breeze. We head to our usual spot just around Bewdley and started to drift around. We managed to find an area where we could catch several fish per 10 minutes. After an hour of fishing, we already caught 20+ then the wind started to pick up. At that spot we were also able to catch a bullhead, some perch, sunfish, rockbass, and one finger size largemouth. At 10am, people started to crowd around us, once again boat crossing just 20 feet beside us while we were fishing. As we were fishing, we saw a boat driving from one boat to another, and we immediate realized what's going on. It's the rarely seen MNR Officer checking for fishing liciences as well as for out of season fish (big thumbs up for the officer). After 30 minutes, we decided to head to another spot further to the east. Before we arrived at the 2nd spot, we saw at least 12 boats crowding over a spot. After seeing that, we drove further east away from the crowd. The wind and the waves constantly growing stronger, so drifting will be out of the question. Even with the anchor down, our boat slowly drifted (good for us because we can cover more water). We once again hit a good spot where we had several double header. Overall we caught more than 80 Crappies from 8 inches to 12 inches. Consider the wind and waves, I say it's a pretty good day All fish were located at 8 feet of water, and caught 4 feet below the float. Now my eyes are focusing onto the Walleye open next saturday. One of the Rockbass Bullhead that fought like after drinking Redbull >< A 8 inches perch The largest Crappie caught today

If you are fishing from shore, try fishing after dark In day time, crappies are a bit off shore for shore fishing (but if you want some sunfish/perch, they are there during day time). But if there's weedbed close to shore, you might be able to get some crappies as well. Pink/white or red/white 1.5 inches tube will work well

Crappies are still around, all you need to do is to find them. Where are you planning to fish anyways?
