I would not bother with the rigger. A couple guys i know grew up on the lake and dont fish much deeper than 40-50 feet down year round. You will be fine with 1.5-2 oz bell sinker on a 3way rig or just a keel sinker

Mmmm meat coma's... Lovin' the underwater footage, Mike. The effort you put into these presenting these reports is pretty damn impressive. Thanks for sharing!

It is that simple. It only gets more complex if your trailer exceeds a certain weight (maybe 10 000 lbs?)
-
Amazing!!! You got to experience the whole smorgasboard of the Pacific coast of Canada.

Tumblehome lodge on crotch lake suits your needs perfectly, with potential for excellent fishing to boot.

That kid looks like a natural with a 12 ga

I perfer anonymity on the internet...

Would sure help with trolling LOL

15 lb fluoro is fine and I wouldn't worry about a snubber. I run 15 lb big game on my rigger and dipsey set ups and it works greatSimcoe Lakers Joey.
-
Are ypu using these for great lakes fishing?
-
No need for a snubber unless you're somewhere where 25 lb kings are lurking
-
You can find small one, but if you're going to be using it for a TM on the toon, you'll kill it pretty quickly. (Cycling it down too low over and over). I would go to a battery shop and buy a proper capacity deep cycle and make it work

Speed also can make a huge difference. I use a #1 for trolling for lakers, and with 50 lbs braid I find that I will get on average 20-40 feet deeper than the chart, this is also trolling around 1.8 - 2.0 mph

Nice adventure. I'm not sure I've ever been hit by a tick *knock on wood*

Awesome! Glad you found some success!

Joeytier, we were in the Zec Kipawa on Lac Ostaboningue. Not as scenic as Nipissing in my opinion and the drive was farther. But the fishing was very good, I think I could get used to it.
Rod Caster I think the spot might be a good one, and we had a fun time.
Jeff
A couple of my neighbors have camps there, looks like you experienced what it's known for

I haven't had the carb apart at all.

I saw those pictures and instantly thought of Kipawa, not surprising that's where you are. Which Zec were you in? Very nice fish btw

Fuel lines are fine(look damn near new actually), haven't checked for weak spark but I suspect thats a nonissue and that it's a high speed jet issue. Funny that I have the exact sane goddamn problem on my big bear now. It's a shame that I hate tinkering with old motors, or else I might be having a little bit of fun with this...

I picked up a nice condition 1970 viking 6 hp outboard a couple weeks ago for my 12 footer. The first time I had it out it would run quite well at speed but idled very rough with lots of sputtering. I did some research on the motor and adjusted the premix and added seafoam and lead substitute, and had it out again for a night trolling. I was impressed by how well it idled, and trolled down beautifully all night, however my top end has dropped drastically (close to 50%). I consistently noticed that if I throttled up too fast it would struggle to find gas and sputter out, but if I go slowly it will eventually find the gas, but certainly not where it should be. Any idea as to what is causing this? I am guessing it is fuel delivery issue?

TL;DR Took an old guy out fishing; great time
Lol. Awesome little story

...it would be the Kamchatka river in Eastern Russia.
Suggestions for a kicker motor needed.

A 2-stroke kicker will be cheaper, lighter, likely have a little more grunt, and are super reliable. Fuel savings is really a non-issue. I can drive around on my 5 hp merc for 9 bucks all weekend lol
