Can you imagine the quality fishery on Nip in a few years if they banned winter fishing and gill netting? I'll bet it rebound quickly and in a big way.
It's unfortunate that the powers that be can't see the benefits of such sweeping changes. Or more likely don't have the stones to rock the boat quite that much.
It's really too bad, I used to love fishing Nipissing. It's been about 10 years now since I've fished it and unless things change I doubt I ever will again.
Very sad.
It has the potential to bounce back very quickly. It is still quite a productive walleye fishery, and I have seen Kawartha lakes in far worse shape than Nip bounce back very quickly with strict regulations.

BAN THE GILL NETS and the lake will rebound, just like Lake Erie did....
Reducing limits for sport anglers will hopefully put pressure on NFN to smarten up. At the very least, it's a step up from the finger pointing and useless 'us and them' rhetoric that gets absolutely nothing accomplished.

Could be either whitefish/herring or big smallies. Water is very warm right now up there.

What an entrance! Summer bassin' in the park is lots of fun

Awesome! Good idea on taking the Chi-Cheemaun on the way up, too.

Fantastic trip. Holy whack-0-muskies

Awesome shots. First two fish are cod?

you always wanna have the boat going as slow as possible not to slow but anough to were the boat is moving.
Nope. I've always found the exact opposite to be true. If anything, I'll throttle up a bit to get my lines set up, especially in a chop. Definitely easier/faster.

A 10 lb walleye is something that has eluded me so far, even though I've landed at least 3 in the 8 to 9 lbs range...
I was lucky enough to cross 2 off my list this year. 3 Species of resident trout on a fly rod and a 50 " inch musky.
A 40 + " pike is definitely next on my list. I've yet to even hit 35 ".

Chronzey?? Is that you?

There would be no laws on electric motors.

This looks FAR more like a military exercise, not to mention I have seen this video labelled as such on the internet before. But I guess it makes a better story if you label it as a failed attempt at fishing...

You're in flavour country...and I am jealous.

Now that's a fist full o' walleye!
-
pike,carp,bass,catfish and walleye
Don't be so specific...
Most people would recommend a different technique for each of the species. For walleye in stained, featureless water it's tough to beat a bright coloured worm harness trolled slowly on bottom, and maybe a bright jig head and chub/dace jigged vertically in locations that look that they hold numbers of fish tight together.
For shore fishing, maybe try slip floating a leech six inches to a foot off bottom and letting it go with the current. I'd imagine that would catch just about everything.

The North Channel is already stuffed with stockers, so I don't see this being an issue. Can't wait to get back there now

May have posted this before, 83 pages is a long list to look through.
But it's worthy of a repeat, timeless music (like Floyd) from a band with unbelievable talent.
First band I saw live at the tender age of 18.
