This is funny---is'nt imposing your opinions on others how wars get started Terry is correct (must be the name)---The law is where the bar is set I have caught many trophy sized fish----even kept a couple---but that number is small---but when I want a fish for supper---I don't take a conscience survey of fellow anglers wether I should keep it I'm waiting on the catch and release deer hunting thread Anyway---I'll stop keeping big fish when Tournaments stop killing fish for $$$ and come at a minimum size requirement (targeting big fish --correct?) See but that's just an opinion--so I'll keep it to mine self

probably the easiest bass close to you during this time of year is those rivers flowing into lk Ontario---like Bronte etc just arm yourself with some panther martin spinners in a little box that fits in your pocket---don't forget an in-line swivel for line twist find deeper pools--like your trout fishin and toss them upstream of the hole--and let it flutter down and thru you may need old runners and shorts this time of year---cause you'll likely walk in the water to different spots care is also needed if you've never waded while fishin---some spots are deeper than they look---a buddy may be a good idea for a couple trips you likely won't get a world record but there should be action throwin various lures at these rivers where they dump in the lake where water is deeper--may get your pike

Once in a lifetime thing that you've seen in the outdoors??

Living for years in Northwest Ontario I had my share of adventure in the wilds 1/ Seen that cougar cross the road ahead of us near the train tracks headin to Lac Seul 2/My boy and I were huntin partridge on my buddy's land one day---we walked a long ways in--got some birds and were headin on the trail to the truck (still some ways away) I pointed out a fresh deer track that was spread open showing it was really on the move--ok get about another 100 yards at a corner in the trail---out pops a timber wolf--then 2 then 4---yup we had 8 of the boys stopped lookin at us blocking our way to the truck. Now my boy was still young (teens)---I said ok this is what we're gonna do----I yelled at the wolves thinking they may spook----nope--need new idea We had single shot 12 ga's---I fired a round into the ground---surely that would send them on their way----nope So I said we'd take turns shooting over the wolves heads---never at same time leaving at least one loaded gun (remember single shots)--told him not to shoot at the wolves if we did'nt have to-----we did'nt So breaking branches over their heads for about 4-5 rounds sent them into the thicker stuff allowing us to pass And of course when braveheart gets 20 feet from my truck--I let out a howl-----they howled back---right behind us So I once in a while remind my boy that very few of his friends--or people in general have been thru something like this. -
The lake I referred to is gin clear---should be gettin lots of sun---always has just some weird phenomenon-----sparse weed growth when there traditionally has been some

Nipissing Walleye fishery in 'crisis': OFAH

Funny all the good ole folks want the netting stopped Not many saying sports fishing should be altered or stopped (Short of the leaf fan) Guess the nets are a big easy target to the solution Better not fish...Lac Seul---Eagle Lake---Wabigoon/ Dinorwic---cuz the Nets are on those as well (and many others including the quinte area) Maybe Nippissing needs more thought than knee jerk reactionary finger pointing---maybe it has special needs Cuz netting is happening in these othe walleye factories -

Who would have figured---OFAH with a self serving agenda. Now these statements from the Mayor may shine the real light on the issues Where Commercial catches are under the microscope and sports are open ended -

See I never went the bucket route My fav method as a young man was break off a willow branch and run the specks through the gills and out the mouth Easy to carry to the next hole Ahh nostalgia again---sorry to interrupt---I'll wait my turn

I have a buddy who's one of Canada's best walleye fishers---likely has forgot more than any of us will ever know He attributes the sustainability and increase in population to the slots and reduced limits---where even in northern communities often thought to be fish factories---has seen improvements So by implementing these rules is like a forced education---and is showing on the numbers And still many of these lakes have Native nets as they always have been -

Your kidding right?? See many wooden boats with 6 hp on them fishin bobbers on the typical spots lately---very few No---hot spots are targeted by finders/info and gps--and returned to constantly---and they are hitting them daily wonder why possession limits and slots were introduced?? too many garbage bags of walleyes found in trash bins at quinte--cause somebody got tired of cleaning them---etc. Nipp is not in the same position it was even 30 years ago----exponential population growth in southern/central Ontario twinned hwy now taking a fraction of the time to get there expanding ice fishing businesses But no---lets take ofah at their word and disregard when the Chief states their self imposed limit is less than allowed -

A good reminder why I do not want to be anywhere near anything to do with OFAH Sling mud and take two steps back from solving any issues here Funny nobody wishes to address other points---ie; how your average angler today is better informed and armed with the latest technology Using new very successful methods and still keeping the old keep and catch mentality Did'nt we recently read how Scugog walleyes are hurting---- A nearby lake has several campgrounds on it----funny how stringers of over slot walleyes slip into camp Or when you know some anglers are on a targeted pattern and will not leave it alone daily----till they're looking to unload walleyes on their neighbors It's the old--- if I don't keep it the next guy will attitude This article is irresponsible in my opinion -
What are you using to target pike hiding in the deeper waters?
