  1. I'm considering a camping trip to this area once the walleye season opens and looking for feedback on the backcountry sites on Stormy vs. the campsites on Restoule. A few questions for the experts if I may: Is there ample parking at the Stormy lake access point and what about the launch? I don't care if there isn't a dock and I don't mind getting my feet wet. I have a 22' glass bassboat. Am I reading the regs correctly? Is does the Bass season open the same date as walley and pike? I enjoy the back country sites the best so if this ends up being my option, any recommendation on which one? It will have to have a bit of sand so I can beach the boat, a spot for 2 sizable tents (sleeping and kitchen) etc. Will stormy be busy in early june? buggy? etc etc. Anyone else interested? Would this be a good time of year in this area? TIA, P
  2. I agree, a quality rod is more important than a quality reel, especially for walleye and bass. But it is nice to hold a piece of quality (reel) in your hand..lol
  3. Attention all you bass fishermen that like to use a shallow spool on a spinning reel. This is for a Shimano Stradic Ci4+, C2500. I ordered it in error direct from Japan as my reel is a 2500FA (the C means "compact") so it doesn't fit. Cost me $39 USD plus shipping and taxes. My loss, your gain. Spool $50 firm.
  4. I think the splake reported was likely an error. there's no history of stocking splake in that lake and an easy error considering all the lakes in the area stocked with splake.
  5. I found a small lake close to where I'm staying and according to Ontario Fish Online, the MNR has been stocking it for a number of years with Rainbows. The lake also has a topographical map - any recommendations on where to start? Ideal depth?
  6. So true, it dies..totally. Found this out the hard way in my new ranger. The system alerted me 2x, about 1 minute apart. Stupid me I looked at the message and said to myself..what the hell??. By the time I figured it out I had to get out the booster pack... I do like the huge weight reduction tho and thanks CrowMan, i'm going to look into a BT monitor for sure.
  7. Currently stationed in Deep River and I'm looking for recommendations on accessible (with a snowmobile) lakes. Looking for Crappie, Walleye, and Splake. Much appreciated!
  8. Bring the best you can and manage. New water? You'll need an edge.
  9. 4 teens in Ottawa suffered the same fate. What I want to know is "what ice??"
  10. Saw a modern Lamborghini and a couple of new vette's on the road in KW this week. Must be a record.

  12. Lucky tackle box 1 - GONE Lucky tackle box 2 - GONE Lucky tackle box 3 - spinnerbaits - GONE Lucky Tackle Box 4 - Box has 1 broken hinge but still works. With misc tackle.
  13. As a sledder, I'm not happy at all...😣
  14. in 2018, i upgraded from a terrova to an ulterra w/BT and Link. I fish alone a fair bit and I wanted the extra safety of being able to stow/deploy from the helm. After 2 months of ownership I ended up with an intermittent issue that affected the stow/deploy system. Got it fixed at Rockey's and it went on w/o issue until Aug. 2020 when I sold the boat. With that being said, I would certainly get another one and with the release of the new models I would highly recommend them. One caveat - the BT model remote with the touch screen wasn't the best, YMMV.

  16. Cuz its gonna bug ya!
  17. Loomis IMX SJR / 782 / 6'6" Medium Fast. 9/10 condition. $250.
  18. I currenly own the whipsnake. Paired with a 2000 luvious and running 6# shooter invisible. Killer setup with NED and Dropshots. I like how much backbone the rod has for such a light setup. One of the others is on my list for next year, not sure which yet. Need to put them in my hand..lol
  19. i'm a tackle nerd as well. I have 21 combos (bass/walleye/pike/muski) not including trolling :0. I was a Dobyn's pro staff back in '17/`18 and even Gary stated that his favorite line was the champ. xp, not the extreme. However, I have 2 extremes (JWR and Pitchin stick) and I love them both. For the light spinning stuff, i'm using Megabass Orochiis which IMHO offer the best value out there. YMMV
  20. Interestingly enough I bought a used Dobyns Champion 734C and this damn thing does just about everything well. I've had several reels on it and now I'm sitting satisfied with a Shimano Calcutta 200D. Its classified as "fast" action but its just a tad slower but not near fast/moderate. I'm going ahead and getting a 2nd, the only repeat I'll have in my arsenal of 20 rods/reels. Rather than state applications, I've used it for everything in the 1/4 to 1-1/4 oz category.. it just works! Needless to say, this one is not up for sale 😄
  21. I was out today and I certainly feel that the Grasp handle will work really nice with Jerk Baits. Otherwise, I'm still on the fence.
  22. I'm originally from Sask so I know about the Mulies..lol Do you have one of these on your wall yet??
