  1. Why do I fish for musky. Gas, gear, and ego always takes hit.

  2. Renting a houseboat on Temagami was one of my best experiences ever. We got one booked for September. So many smallies. I usually catch over a hundred in a week. Just use live minnows or worms. Stay close to shore and move around a lot. Hopefully you have your own boat to take too. If not rent one. Anyways when we were just relaxing in the houseboat I always had two ice fishing rods hooked up at the end of the boat with bells hooked to the rod tip lol. It's a hoot getting drunk at night and having a bell go off. Have fun.
  3. Hey guys. Just wondering if I can use a Nautilus starter/deep cycle battery for my Minn Kota Edge trolling motor instead of just a deep cycle. Having trouble finding one. Thanks
  4. Did well today. Traded lots of lures. Some guys are for it and some not. Got a nice bait casting reel for $25. Wanted to pick up one of those shirts that say "fifty incher" but had to watch my spending.
  5. Just asked to complete a job for someone installing running carpet down there stairs. Just a few questions cause it's a first for me. Does it matter if I start at the top or bottom? Should I lay down underlayment.? What about using a stapler instead of carpet nails? Of course theres a curve at the bottom of the stairs so if anyones got advice on that that would be great. Thanks
  6. Unfortunately a 68 year old man drowned yesterday in Waterford. He took his nine year old nephew out ice fishing and he also went through, but bystanders were able to get to the young boy. Temps were +10 yesterday. Just moved to Waterford last year and so wanted to ice fish, but my gut kept telling me not. Not sure how to paste link so if you just go to Norfolk News you should get the whole story.
  7. Moved there last year. Boat ramp is a minute drive from my house lol.
  8. Thanks guys for your input, but the wife and I decided to just head to Ottawa for the weekend with no fishing. Was looking forward to heading to Nipissing for a couple of days on the ice and being lazy drinking beer and fishing. Not up for any work like drilling holes and setting up tent. Next year the plan is to head up to Nipissing during the week and not weekend. Lot more huts available. Thanks again
  9. I'm thinking bay of quinte too jeremy. Never ice fished it, but was out at season opener last year with the boat. You got any idea where to park?
  10. Kinda want to stay away from the Simcoe perch. If theres huts out there that are in deeper water I would work.
  11. Well the title says it all. Was planning on taking my wife ice fishing on Nippissing for the weekend in Feb, but everything is booked. We both put in our vacation time so I'm kinda stuck. We are still planning on going fishing just if any of you guys have suggestions that would be great on where to go. I have my own gear and dont have an issue driving 6 hours from my house which is close to Brantford. $500 is max I am willing to spend on the weekend for accommodation. If I have to stay at a motel for the night and then head out that would work. Thanks guys
  12. Will let you know. Thanks
  13. In a couple of weeks my wife and I are heading to Lake Temagami for a week of none stop fishing. We are renting a houseboat and luckily we are able to tow my boat behind it. I have zero experience on this lake and was hoping maybe some of you guys can give me a few pointers. We will be leaving the town of Temagami and I have read that there will be enough gas to get to Sandy inlet and back. The game plan is to mix it up with trolling, jigging, and casting. Love to wipe Lake Trout and Whitefish off my bucket list. Thanks
  14. So its been one year to the date since my career change. Couldnt be happier.

  15. Just moved out to Waterford and decided to throw the boat out in the ponds for the day. Knew the launch was a little sketchy cause it was gravel, but went for it with my front wheel drive crv. Got caught and couldn't take the boat out of the water. A fellow fisherman that I just passed fishing with his daughter came over and helped me to push my truck out of the gravel. Thought I would mention this good gesture made by this guy.
  16. I just sent some recommendations to Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment on how they should conduct their parade.
  17. Thanks for all the info boys. Got home from work and started eliminating possible issues. Got the voltage reader out and started getting current. So the next step is to head to CT and grab a lightbulb lol. Just how could it be cause the bulb isn't used a whole lot, but then again not sure how much the previous owner used it. If its not the issue then I tried what I could. Thanks again
  18. Will pull out my multi reader tomorrow and test it out. Thanks
  19. Went out to Bay of Quinte a few weeks ago and my front and back lights were not working on my 14 footer. Managed to get the back ones going when I got home, but got no success getting the front ones to turn on. I'm pretty sure its not the battery. I followed the connection from the front lights to the battery and still can't figure it out. Going to bring it in to the marine next week, but if anyone could give me any tips that would be great. Thanks
  20. Looking forward to it drifter. When your done thats going to be a sweet place with a sweet view. So jealous lol
  21. Just saw an advertisement this morning for this and it looks pretty cool. Basically its a camera and you attach it above your leader and it shows everything. Thinking about purchasing one, but wondering if any you guys got one and if you would recommend it. Thanks
  22. I made that decision last year and here we are now on 1 acre. Its not whole lot, but it works for us. No neighbours in sight. Just decided why not and went for it.
  23. Wind 1 My Roof 0
  24. Well theirs another two now laying on my grass. Thanks guys for the advice. Thanks muddler for putting in the time to let me know. It would be just a temporary fix so I think I'm going to call someone to get the roof done. Thanks
  25. Hey guys. Just moved into my new house a month ago. Last week I had over 10 shingles land on the ground after a crazy wind storm. Not too sure how old roof is, but if I had to guess probably 10-15 years old. Had a guy come out yesterday and for $100 he put the old shingles back up for me. I don't have a ladder that goes high enough. Today we had wind gust of almost 70km and another 8 has fallen down. I live out in the country so the wind is just picking them right up cause the part of the roof that has them falling off has an angle of like 10 degrees so its pretty flat. Going to purchase a ladder tomorrow and going to do it myself. Just a few questions. Should I even attempt to inform my insurance broker and see what he says? Should I use the same shingles that blew off or should I buy new ones? When nailing the new shingles in should I apply a roofing cement under it first? Any info would be great guys. Thanks
