It always seems the more money i spend on fishing gear, the more it breaks? Anyone else with me in this boat ahahhaa now im really worried about my g-loomis rod i just picked up. I did however see that now with G-loomis you can pay 100 bucks and they will replace your rod no matter what happens to it...not such a bad deal.

i kind of feel like the dipsy works as a bit of a flasher on its own. As you can see in that diagram i posted the first time, they dont recommend running the flasher with the spoon. However on lure such as Flies, the flasher is a must have as this is what will give your fly some twirling action.

my understanding is that pigeon/buckhorn are much much quieter come fall as the trailer parks all close down. Ive only fished them during the summer time, however i know that the bridge leading into buckhorn Pigeon side held a lot of fish...i personally caught smallmouths, and largemouths, and my buddy nabbed a pickerel there. I also witnessed a guy who seemed to know what he was doing running for musky on the bridge side of the channel. I also saw a whole pile of massive massive carp specifically in the area right near the bridge. This was all during summer, but i cant imagine the hoards of fish in this are would all be gone come october.

just incase you are still wondering about dodgers/flashers I prefer smaller ones for lakers.

as far as i am aware the dispy chart does not account for line stretch...correct me if i am wrong people? As an added tip, when letting the line out, do so by letting the tension off the line. If you open the bail sometimes your line will sink below the dipsy and cause you to have a huge mess. Let the tension go and let the dipsy take your line out. Also this is handy

I love the fact that in the kawarthas the slot only allows for smaller fish to be kept, that way monsters like this continue to grow and breed. Awesome catch

yes, only in parry sound harbour is 1 line allowed. This is once again to protect the laketrout population. I typically ice fish for pike and pickerel in the pointe au baril area. All good!

Can someone clarify if this applies to angling through the ice?

id target smallies or pike... the pickerel really have turned off in the bay as a whole as they are dispersed into the deeper parts of the lake. The big pike are also out in the deeper water. Bass seem to stay a bit more reasonably closer to the mainland.

dont forget that the stadium has double the capacity of the air canada centre...hence it appears to be empty. Attendance has been unbelievable the past few seasons. I get out to at least 10 games a year and it keeps getting better each season.

I think this period of absolutely consistent weather has turned the fishing right off, ive been really struggling the last couple of weeks. Hopefully with this big system moving in tomorrow the fish will turn back on again..it is also the dog days of summer, ive never had great luck this late into the summer...

ive read the reg 100x and never noticed that exception, holy crap thank god we never ended up installing the extra rod holders for the dipsey. Jeez! Personally, not a huge fan of the layout of the fishing regs. The seperation of various rules is kind of confusing, and throwing in ads mid page makes for a mess.

wow...where are you seeing this? I know that the one rod rule applies when fishing through ice in parry sound harbour, but i have never heard of this regulation? I have even been on a guided trip and we were running two rods per. I am just getting into downriggin for laketrout personally as the salmon fishing is terrible these days. Ive spent 30+ hours and only ever caught one salmon, hardly worth it. A lot of people are talking about using braid as your mainline, I personally would advise against it as the spiny water flee problem is so ridiculous in the bay that I couldnt imagine what it would do to braid. Its a pain enough using Fluoro.

lol @ weed infested...aka the lake is weeds thats it. personally heading to pointe au baril tomorrow, then boating down to parry sound harbour for the evening laker bite...sleeping in the boat overnight and rigging sunday morning before first light.

Ditched the car and rode my bike for the 35k return trip to Jb's and i would say it was worth it. I haven't been to a bait shop that had such an extensive selection of trout and salmon gear. I couldn't imagine how crazy it must be if you guys are saying that the stock is low. I got nearly everything i was looking for and more. Could of dropped a stack easily in that place. Ended up getting all of the required trout gear, plus some bass stuff. The guy in the shop was helpful and the resident regulars were more than willing to throw some knowledge towards me. Their wall of Gary Yamamotos was awesome (a little pricey but whatever i cant find them anywhere) Grabbed a wacky worm rigging tool Not a huge selection of spinnerbaits, but i found a pretty sweet perch coloured one that I am excited to try out. big selection of divers and flashers...grabbed one of each with a snubber for the Diver. Selection of spoons was really good, got the blue and green dolphin dreamweaver super slims and a moonshine (or something similar to that name) in a glow pattern, took it home turned off the lights to test it out and it looked like a beacon. Got all of the clips and swivels i needed as well. I would say the only disappointment was their line selection. I have been itching to pick up some powerpro for a while, but the regular power pro stock was severely depleted and the only line they had less than 40lbs test was in yellow. Just a bit too much visibility for my liking. Now on to catch some lakers! wish me luck!

Go for the smallies, the pickerel fishing in the area has been bunk since the tribes started netting the spawning pickerels. I find that people that far north dont tend to bother with bass as much. Everyone typically jigs for pickerels. I think you will consistently catch more smallies.

any word on this being available on the apple store?

The Michigan stinger line appears to have exactly the spoons I am looking for. Every major outlet doesnt seem to carry much selection when it comes to these style lures. Would you think JB's would have them? My dad got a bunch of Bass pro gift cards for Christmas and was pretty disappointed in their trout selection. We are pretty new to downrigging etc. This is our first honest attempt at really having a proper go at the lakers in Parry sound.

Hey Guys, My dad and I are heading up to parry sound this weekend for some trout downrigging. Last year we did a guided trip with a friend of a friend who no longer guides but did a special trip out for us...anyways we caught some big big fish with consistency. Unfortunately I have been really struggling to find the specific lures that the guide suggested we use. The specific lures i am looking for are Dreamweaver Super Slim holographics. I have even looked online however, amazon wont ship these lures to canada and the only place i found was a mail in order shop out of michigan with a website looking like it was made in 1993. Ive tried bass pro, al flahertys and sail and none of them seem to carry much of the dreameaver line. I was able to grab flies from al flahertys but no one seems to carry Dreamweaver spoons. Any suggestions? I am in the GTA but would be able to stop anywhere between the GTA and Pointe au Baril. Maybe someone even has a suggestion for a similar set of spoons?
