  1. Mahumba is the man... Glad to see he is still out there
  2. I remember watching a video on a TV special about this exact thing. It was neat to see... here is a snippet I dug up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC4ZET1ftGk...feature=related G
  3. Curt if you are going though, it is wise to call Lakair to let Kevin and Leslie know you will be coming. G..
  4. and now for the airing of grievances around the steel pole... G
  5. Hobbits can live well into their 100's Happy Birthday Roy G
  6. Curt, you pretty much just show up with you're tent and setup where there is an open spot.. there are not really assigned spots during the G2G G
  7. Erik... No worries about finding a boat spot.. noone will be left on shore, unless it is of you're own choosing G
  8. Yes... they count towards you're daily catch limit... G
  9. While I am pleased others know him and therefor understand his personality. He pretty much weirded my wife and Ned's wife right out LOL! That said I know what was being told to me in very much a bragging manner about how HE caught his entire families limit and how if he caught more he was going to give them away... Hell even the girl tending the snack shop told me to talk to him for this reason, as he seemed to be the only one in camp on fish I understand he is you're friend Chris. But I feel as though what I did was right and after talking to the MNR I feel better about it, as they said it was not legal. If he did not break any laws he has nothing to worry about right? Perhaps it is his personality that has him in this position now. G..
  10. I have called the MNR... Yes they answer the phone @ 1am on the TIPS Line.. I explained to the officer the situation and he infact said what he was doing was illegal. I gave the officer the required particulars and will let the MNR deal with it.
  11. Well, there has certainly been a wide array of responses.. I just thought to myself how could I PROVE to the MNR that this is what he was doing.. it is not like I tape recorded our conversation.. I met a fellow OFC'r there, Ned (Goran's Cousin) his handle is something along the lines of looking4eyes?? He also talked with Jeff... and was given the same story.. he also thinks a slot fish was kept.. Normally I would not have issue in turning in someone that was breaking the law... but I had no way to prove it to the MNR other then his big mouth telling the camp.. next thing you know I am spending hours with the MNR giving statements etc, possible court appearances up north etc.. there is a campful of guests, a person who just passed away with that comes ambulances and the OPP etc etc etc.. it was in my opinion just not the right thing to do without having to create a situation. Had the circumstances been different, my response would have been as well. He knew how I felt about it however as I let him know what he was doing was infact not the ethical thing to be doing. G...
  12. Congrats to you and the wife! Best wishes to all. G
  13. I worked fulltime in highschool, I worked fulltime while going to University... I needed too. I had rent and bills to pay on top of that I also had to pay for my tuition.. It can be done.. just be prepared to work hard.. and in the end you have no debt looming over you're head for years to come. I will suggest as others have.. Pick up a trade. G
  14. Anytime brother! Just glad to see you are on the mend. G
  15. The person that passed away was no relation to me... But was still a bad deal... I saw him on the dock in his wheelchair the day before, and his wife was trying to arrange a patient transfer to get him home... as for "Jeff" he knew what he was doing was wrong, he also knew I thought it was wrong as well... but what would the MNR do? he had fish for every person with a license that was staying in their cabin.. That is where my question of ethics came about.. I know I would not do it. I also know he fished alone or took a dock boy to keep him company.. The MNR would have to pull the kids aside, the wife aside and question them about when, where how was the fish caught etc... I just figured with everything else going on in camp... this was one less thing that needed to happen... Still ticked me off though.. and he knew it. G
  16. Before I start, lets just say I had a great week with the family... The only downside was one fellow in camp.. "JEFF" was his name. I was fishing my brains out, did ok I guess... well no I did'nt.. the fishing was tough for me this week as it was for many others in camp... It is just the way things go from time to time, Mother nature is a finicky lady.... I do know however of one person in camp that was catching fish.. He would go out morning and night... upon talking to him one thing became apparent his family was not fishing with him.. he was bragging about how he caught his limit.. (OK cool by me) he then proceeded to tell me he caught his entire families limit (On his own) He was there with two teenage kids and his wife... But he did not stop fishing.. He then said any other fish I catch I will be giving away as I cannot keep any more... So... my question is.. Is it considered ethical to catch fish on you're families COMBINED limits... and then to gift fish away to other fishermen just so you can keep fishing?? This guy really burned a hole in my arse this week after talking with him... all mouth, better then everyone else in camp etc etc etc.. I never let the lodge owners know nor did I call the authorities.. as there was enough going on in the camp already... (Someone passed away...) What would you have done? do you consider this "combined" limit acceptable?? would you gift fish away so you could continue to target the species?? I will sign this.. A little ticked off. G PS.. Kevin and Leslie were great hosts as usual! by far my favourite place to visit! but they had more ten enough on their plate to deal with..
  17. Broke Back WHHHHHHHAT!?! I was at Lakair Fishing Had a blast! Fishing was tough though except for one guy that was short in stature but not in mouth... I will be posing a full report likely tomorrow.. I am beat (Just got in the door) I also have a question on fishing ethics in relation to this fellow I mention above.. Mike thanks for you're concern bud! but all is well here G
  18. Dude!!! It is about time! Odd... I was talking to another OFC'r and asked about you not long ago.. A Baby!! Jesus man.. I WAS living vicariously through you! damn ... now to find another icon.. Nice to hear from you again Aaron, dont be a stranger K?? G..
  19. Well, I am heading up Saturday Morning ... Unfortunately the people that have PM'd me about this trip are no longer able to attend.. Fishing solo it is! Unless someone can make it up on short notice. Have a great week everyone! I will be sure to put the tripod in the boat and take as many pics as I can! G
  20. I know a little bit of the area you are fishing in are you in a boat? do you have a GPS with a hydrographic map? Look for reefs and other drop offs, Nipissing Jig and a worm will be the ticket to getting into some walters, Cast it out and use a slow jig and retrieve.. repeat. If you are catching dink perch you will not be cacthing walleye.. so move to another spot... if you have access to a map hit up Gull Islands... again looking for reefs. These are hardly secret spots, hell the charters fish them... just a general area to perhaps catch a few. Hopefully Bernie will see this and chime in.. He pretty much lives VERY close to where you will be fishing. I should add Mike01 lives in the vicinity as well and perhaps could offer you and you're family a few more tips/ Good luck to you, take alot of pictures and I look forward to you're report upon you're return! G
