  1. Well it seems everyone has a diff opinion on this subject. But I think it's safe to say.The winds effect the weather. And weather has, played an effect on fishing. Now weather, lol the fishing is effected for the better or worse ??? I guess it depends
  2. An old fishing friend of mine, told me many years ago this... Wind from the west, IS THE BEST! Wind from the east, the fisherman will catch the least. Wind from the North, the fisherman does not go forth. Wind from the South, the bait falls in there mouth. Now over the years, I've found most of this to be true. And I've planned fishing days around the wind. I know it's more to do with low preasures & high preasures. but... Whatcha think? Oh yeah, today is SW wind. Cya I'm going
  3. Looks like a nice little spot to have to yourself. Good for you.
  4. LOL. We did see some LOSER!!! using two rods from the bank.He never even stopped when we went by. We did say something to each other, in a very loud tone. But we think he did not speak English.Cause he sure would have heard us. The Lake may? have been on turn over...But we did'nt mark to dam much on our graph. It was our 1st trip to this Lake. And it is VERY big.My Battery held up "all day"
  5. Well me and another member on here, went out to G.L There was heavy winds the day before and a cold front moving in.But we just tried hammering the Lake anyways. We got there very early, and stayed most of the day. The only fish caught was by my buddy. Here it is... What a monster!!! We tried all over the Lake, and cover tons of water. But still we did not mark any fish or get any fish. Fishinfeind took some nice morning pic's. We even tried through this big pipe. The other side would have been great for Bass, if the water level was higher. But if it was any higher, we would have not made it though. Oh well. A bad day of fish'in, is better than a good day at work.
  6. That would be the best time of the year to fish. The cold does tend to leave to dude's at home with Mommy. It's to bad, my taste for river fishing is fouled. ( no pun intended lol)
  7. When I river fished in the past ( I don't any more) I would see countless jerks doing the same thing! It would always end with me losing my cool.I would sit there all day, for maybe a hit.And these S.O.B's would be snagging anything that they saw. At least I had the enjoyment of seeing a couple of guys get caught infront of a MNR one time. Some people just don't get it.
  8. WOW! Monster Bass. Hmmmmmmmmm.Note to self, must get out on Simcoe soon.LOL Great report. Ps, I would'nt brag about this... "thankgod we both have 2inch balls cause " LOL
  9. A really good average. And I nice hull in, that fast.Erie looks to be still a good fishery. I bet your son loved it.Look at the smile. He'll always remeber it.
  10. Thank you silveradosheriff It's very nice to have a place to start, on such a big Lake. This is the reason I asked for some help.I practice C&R, and don't even eat fish. But I love good Pike, and Bass fishing. I will be Pm'ing you for sure.Thanks. And jediangler,When I did a search on Guelph Lake.Your name popped up.And that nice NP. made my eyes open pretty fast. There use to be NP like that in the Berg some time ago:( I think I love getting nice Pike over good Bass. They can be so much more fun when they hit the 35" to 40" range.I will be getting a map for sure. They always help.I do ok, on a Lake I've never been to with a good depth map. They are GOLD. I don't have a fishfinder anymore.I only run a 9 & 1/2 foot skiff/duck boat now.I run a 54lbs MG electric. The Batt, lasts all day full out( it's a big ass batt).I also have a 3 & 1/2 HP,1952 Sear row buck for it.But I don't run it much anymore. It a good little rig for puddle jumping around the Conservation.I like fishing all the conservation. They sometimes, can be better than, some of the Lakes I use to drive hours North to get too. Ok, Guelph LK it is.
  11. Thank you for the info silveradosheriff. If you had to pick Guelph Lake to fish, or Bellwood Lake, what Lake would you fish. I know Bellwood, you can use a gas powered motor.( info I found) My friend and I are kinda thinking of one or the other.I guess the best question to ask is... What Lake is deeper.( cause all the Lakes are low right now) We will be heading out this coming Sat. Thanks. Shawn.
  12. I'm far from an expert. But I have a craddle i use on Musky & big pike.It allows you to keep the fish in the water. And they don't get all caught up in a net. They also stay pretty calm in my craddle. And you can unhook them without taking them outta the water.I've stopped using the Vulcan nerve lock many years ago.And since then I bring them in green now.I use to have to fight the fish untill I figured I could handle it( I've never used a net). Now I'm using a craddle, my % of landed Musky has doubled. And the fish I release have a much better chance of living, since I bring them into the craddle green. I think a trolling speed of 5 MPH is good. The burst speed of a big musky would blow your mind.Even when casting, if you think your reeling to fast, your not! As fast as you can reel, a Musky can burst faster. All the other Q's you have, I'll leave to the experts. Good luck.
  13. I agree, I would have said hello and made friends with them. You can't really blame them for fishing where the fish are. A shore lunch & a beer would have been the way to go.
  14. I did a search on the lake, and found some info. But I'd like to know some more info. 1) What time does the park open/close? 2) What's the fee, to get into the lake. 3) I've seen some pic's of nice size pike in the lake.I pratice catch & release 99% of the time, but is it a C&R lake like Binbrook. 4) Is there only one way into the lake? and what end of the lake should I go for. I've Google map'd the lake and seen a couple of Rivers coming in.Is one River opening better than the other? 5) Gas motors ok? or should I bring the electric motor.I'm thinking only electric. 6) Is there a hot spot for Pike. It looks like a big Lake, and any hot spots given sure would save time. Thanks for any info given in advance. I will be going next weekend with another member. We will do a report when we are done. Thanks. Shawn.
  15. Looks like a nice NP. If there is both NP & Musky in that lake, I would'nt be surprized if there was tiger musky in there.
  16. I think your right about the water levels. If it drops even more there won't be any fish lsft in that lake. I know it's been dry out, but HOLY dropping water levels batman. lol
  17. WOW! The water level is dropping more & more every time I go to the Berg.Only nail 3 Hammerhandles, not a great day. But @ the end of the day, I pulled out 2 FULL! bags of garbage from around the ramp( I keep them in my boat for this). It really tick's me off that people have no respect for the land. There was a couple guys at the ramp, shocked that I did it.But maybe they will learn something from it. One guy said the inmates from Maplehearst in Mlton, came out a while ago and did a clean up.Well at least that is a positive thing for them to do. Sure beats making lic, plates. lol Oh well, a slow day for the Berg, but at least I was part of the solution, rather part of the problem. And it does make me feel good. Cya. Shawn.
  18. Will look for the receipt. Should still be under warranty..... The trick i use for finding them, is when I buy a new Batt.I stick a packing slip ( zip lock bag with glue) on the new Batt, and when I need it it's there. I just had to trade in a old batt, under Warry. Good thing I had the receipt.
  19. That LMB is a real fatty. And nice release.
  20. Well, when you don't catch fish... it's just a boat ride. you'll get'em next time.
  21. I would take the Batt's out, and get them load tested at Can tire.( should be a free test.) And as said b4 make sure all your connection are clean. Then after you get it figured out.Hook the Batt's back up, and coat them with vasiline. This will stop all future connection probs.
  22. I just used a weedless hook ( the one with the keeper) and ripped it through the weeds. A great Pike bait. I use the smaller pork baits with my Johnson silver minnow , and one of my fave. The old pig & jig.Great for flipping in heavy cover.
  23. that's the stuff! I thought they were Uncle Josh. But your right! it was strike king. I just lost my last one, a while ago.And the lable was ripper/worn off. They kinda last a long time eh. lol. I guess ebay it is. ( I hate flea bay) Thanks.
  24. Sandals for me, untill the snow comes. What tan lines.
  25. never heard of it, nor tried it b4. But here's the link, if any buddy wanta to try it. http://www.stumbleupon.com/
