  1. Keep them take them home when you are done...set up an aquarium and keep them cool. Then when you go out again you won't have to trap or buy as many the next time. I keep around 100 or so in the fall and winter for ice fishing in aquariums in my garage. Saves me having to buy them so often and you almost never use all them up...the store I get them from gives a generous scoop for $4 and I take at least half of those and leave them at home, too many and they just die in the minnow bucket anyways. 2. I do believe Mr. Choronzey could use a few upgrades to his manner of releasing fish too, but how often does he release fish anyway, I guess he doesn't eat everything he catches does he?

I attended a seminar he put on about 12 years ago and wasn't impressed one bit. I'm sure he does a fair amount of good for the sport and he is involved which is more than most of us can say. Maybe you can't teach an old dog new tricks...hmmm. :dunno:

  3. WTG Lew gotta luv when ya see em comin and they snatch at the bait, viciously is best. Really gets the old ticker pumpin. Nice 2 weeks ya had and to end it off with a few hours trolling with the better half...class act buddy. Good job. B)

  4. I'm no biologist but I've always understood them to be the fishes way of ridding the parasites in the flesh by shedding them out of their system to the fins and tail. If you were to fillet those fish you would find numerous parasites in the meat...I've always used it as a sign to release the fish with the black spots cause its got worms in the meat and besides the fish is a fighter and should be released cause it has fought off the parasites thus far so I let em live to swim and get healthier. 6. They are rather unique lures, Trolling in deep water is good with the large ones and casting some of the smaller versions onto rock shoals in the wind or across the tops of weedbeds is good...experiment and let us know. B)

  7. Nice Crappie Banger. I don't usually fish for anything other than Pike and Bass when I'm there. As a matter of fact I never even seen any Crappie there. This time I did throw a 1/32 oz jig and grub to rest my broken thumb/ hand for a bit and thats how we caught the perch. Prolly could gets some good numbers if I tried more for them more. Thanks Jedi and you couldn't get around in there too well with the trolling motor/or should I say weed gatherer...lol. I think Gadget wants to go back in a month or so as long as we get some rain the weeds will have died back some by then and should be like fall conditions too...hopefully. B)

  8. I lost one last spring in there that was pushin 15 lbs, over 40". But the average would be in the mid 20" range. Have had many fish days there and all were released unharmed. It's a great local pond, just wish they would take the parking fee monies and re-invest into some gravel to re-line the launch driveway, maybe even put in an automated electrical gate and some garbage cans so dummies don't feel the need to litter the shoreline with worm containers and coffee cups and lure wrappers. Sometimes the place looks like a back alley in a metropolis with all the crap lying around. Did my share and picked up some and brought my own out with me, wish more people would do the same. :(

  9. My buddy Inspector Gadget and I decided we'd try the Berg for some Pike today, upon our arrival we noticed the lake had dropped about 4' since the spring and that you could walk across the weeds, not to mention the strong gusts blowing at us. We looked out from the boat ramp and decided we'd giver a shot anyway. Launched the "AUGUSTAWIND" and within 5 min I had hooked and landed a pike just over 20" on a slugo. A few mins later, a swipe and missed a pike. We looked for a break in the weeds to locate deeper water and when we did...BANG a pike on the slugo again just under 20".

The next fish for me was the biggest of the day 27". Taken on a self tuned and enhanced Bluefox Spinner, the feathers and maribou is all thats visible since this fish inhaled the bait big-time.

Then the gadget finally got on the board with a few pike just over 20".

Finished the day off with a flashy hyper 25" Pike.

We had to work hard to get the fish we did and the winds worked against us. The total for the day was 4 for me and 3 for gadget. We did manage to hook a few small perch while takin a casting break and draggin a mini jig and grub. Definitely the hardest we've had to work with just as many swipe/and missed fish as landed. A good day out and Gadgets first day out this year in the boat, glad we decided to try it regardless of the less than favourable conditions. B)

  10. Does anyone here think that maybe...just maybe that the Scugog and Kawarthas carp die offs are somewhat related here...hmmm. Someone/organization is working on a remedy to rid us of carp and that Scugog was the testing area gone bad, Lake X if you will...maybe figuring that the toxins dumped in the lake would be diluted before it reached Sturgeon or downstream from there...man were they mistaken. I believe they have come up with some data and possibly preparing to dump it into the Great Lakes to reduce or kill off the new invading carp species...Why else would the MNR and Fish and Wildlife Services be taking so long to ID the problem in the Kawarthas...its' because they know whats goin on and don't want to let on they do. IT'S A CONSPIRACY....OH NO.

Relax think how a huge carp would fight on lite line...awesome. B)

  11. A full grown cougar will stand somewhere around 4' tall, Fishers are much smaller. The fact that its' black is just a genetics, look at wild wolf packs a lot of them are mixed colours and black is very common. These big cats are an awesome creature and should be photographed only. They are usually very shy but unpredictable. No need to shoot and strap it to the hood of yur pickup truck...unless they are eating yur chickens...lol. B)
