  1. The company that came here yesterday to look at my TV has been in business for 30 years and is well respected so I take him at his word when he told me it's very common these days for a TV to give up the ghost after only 2-3 years and that it's a good idea to buy the extended warranty which wasn't really needed in the past. He also told me a huge part of his business these days is warranty work so that says something right there.

  2. 6 1/2 years ago I bought a 60" Samsung smart tv and a 3 year extended warranty wasn't too much extra so I bought that too. The TV worked great and then just 4 months after the warranty expired the tv self destructed. I bought it at The Brick down in Peterboro but they said there was nothing they could do which I understood.

I know Samsung's are sposed to be good TV's so I bought a 65"er along with the extended warranty and this morning when I turned it on there's a big 10" wide stripe running down the screen but this TV is only 2 years old.

I contacted the Brick again and they hooked me up with the company that handles the warrant repairs and they'll be here tomorrow. If they can't repair it I'll have to buy another but it sure as heck won't be another Samsung, I'm done with them.

My warranty is pro-rated so I'll get money towards another TV

Funny thing though as I have another 3 Samsung's that are all 11 years and have never had an issue.

Or Trout Creek that use to have 4 gas stations, none now. I'm amazed Sundridge and South River have held on as well as they have... We still go through most times and buy our Groceries at the South River Foodland for a quick in and out.

We used to shop there too Wayne and usually stopped in for breakfast too. Nice to see the new hiways being built but also sad to see so many places going under because none of the tourists go through town anymore.

Not much work up that way either so when the small shops are forced to shut down where do they go to find more work ?

I am seeing very little green growth on weed beds, almost like the aquatic plant season is really late.

Do you have any pencil reeds up your way yet ?

After about 45 years of chasing muskies one pattern that always worked for me this time of year was casting spinnerbaits into pencil reed beds and cranking them back out but more times than not the fish would hit as soon as the bait hit the water.

Best times for me were just before sunrise and then head back out at sunset.  As the sun is rising over the horizon and then again as it's dipping below it really turn the fish on and multiple fish in a short period of time is very common.

Pencil reeds grow in shallow water with a sandy bottom and that combo attracts the fish early season.....at least in my experience

  5. My wife and I have been going to Mashkinonje a couple times a year for the last 6 or so years. It was just sold and we haven't met the new owners yet but we're heading there in 2 weeks. The cabins are nice and the previous owner put in all new docks and they also have gas there too.

I never fished in that area myself but rather boated out to the West Bay but I'm sure others can help you with that.

You'll enjoy your stay there and the area is beautiful too.
