the main purpose of the "no transporting live fish" reg is to ensure that species won't get introduced to waterbodies where they didn't exist before and protect the ecosystems ... so IMO as long as you do not release whatever you're transporting to another water body then it's okay. Not saying it's really the right with respect to the regs but it doesn't do any harm.

I had a chat with my local CO when I was keeping fish.. I was told that the unofficial version is nobody really cares... but that ANY fish in the tank are considered part of your possession limit... of all the fish I kept the small gar pike was BY FAR my favorite. Watching him/her eat minnows was absolutely fascinating.

where did you get the gar pike TJ? Was it store bought?

must have been really scary the moment it happened. I've been on the ice once where the whole slab seemed to have moved/shifted down after a loud crack. That scared the crap outta me.

as for the phone ... you probably kept it on. It may be a good idea leave it off, take the battery out for 2-3 days and let it completely dry out in case there's still some moisture inside. (although it's fine right now)

I actually picked one up myself at lebaron this morning without knowing about the sales at CTC, it's only a buck or 2 difference anyway. Perfect size for me since I just started out and have limited amount of gear.

Thanks to frozen-fire, EC1 & MJL i have picked up this expensive yet addicting sport of ice fishing lol.

Tomorrow will be my first time fishing Simcoe. I'm planning to head out from Gilford (need to stop by BPS to pick up an auger). It'd be great if you guys can give me some tips. Not looking for honey holes or anything. Where should I park? and generally how far should I walk out? I know it's a good bet to stick with the crowd but I don't want to get too close and I don't mind doing a bit of legwork myself finding the fish. My plan's to use jigs + the stinky gulp stuff.

Been using my aventa for the last 2 years and i'm looking to get an islander. I know down the road I will want to upgrade but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Just going to take it one step at a time and I guess it would allow me to really appreciate the quality of the craftmanship/engineering that the higher end reels offer.

Just waiting for a black/grey islander to pop up in the classified now ... the gold is just too blingbling for me
