Lunch time over....back to work....grrrrrr....play nice boys....trucks are trucks.....

Before the gas spike in 2008 Toyota was seriously considering building a 2500 serious diesel truck.....but after gas went well above $4 in '08 I believe Toyota has scrapped that idea completely....they even revamped their brand new billion dollar truck plant in San Antonio, TX where most of the Tundra's were built.......now all Tundra's to the best of my knowledge are coming out of Indiana.....the Texas plant is now building SUV's.
-
But it's a GM....it will be in the shop more then towing....
-
It's on average $.50 per gallon more here in the states.....
-
OUCH....is that what they are getting now a days for a truck.....that MUST be a LIMITED model......at least I would hope.....mine is a SR5 model and it "listed" at $31,800 back in June of '07....after factory rebates, dealer discount and the trading in of my 2002 Ford Escape I only had to pay them $18,000........not bad for a brand new truck that will last me for MANY more years to come....at least 20 years I am expecting. BTW next week it will be 5 YEARS old and hasn't been back to the dealer yet.....I did put in brakes late last summer but that's it........MUCH MUCH MUCH better then any Detroit truck I have ever owned...... And BillM....how's the price of diesel fuel doing.....
-
Now now Ladies.....you want a real tow vehicle....a work horse........these toys you are driving don't compare to the Might Toyota Tundra..... If it has wheels and is a trailer of some sort....TUNDRA will tow it down the road...SAFELY...

THANKS once more everyone.......and Nipfisher....Tim is 3 for 3 the last 3 years of deer hunting when he could get away.....the Air Force didn't have to teach the boy how to shoot....LOL.....he knew by the age of 12... -
Before my Toyota Tundra I towed this boat with a 2002 Ford Escape without any problems whatsoever...... The Ford Escape comes with over 200hp with plenty of torque.....and if you get one that has the tow package as mine did, it comes with a tranny cooler AND a engine oil cooler.....I also towed this trailer out west......through Ontario....including 17 states and over the continental divide twice (over 10,500 feet) while putting on 6,500 miles in 30 days....AGAIN without any problems whatsoever.... BTW this trailer weighed in at 3,000 lbs loaded....but it did have it's own electric brakes....

There have been many others here that also had very kind and encouraging words that I want to THANK also.....even though I couldn't figure out how to multi-reply to..... THANK YOU EVERYONE......we are very proud parents..... I have mentioned this before......but if anyone ever has the chance to visit the Dayton, Ohio area......MAKE SURE you stop and see the U.S.A. Air Force National Museum in Beavercreek, Ohio......EVERY plane that has ever flown under the the US colors (Flag) is INSIDE this HUGE museum....even the continental ballistic missiles standing UPRIGHT.......including the famous PEACE KEEPER aimed at the old Soviet Union....and the best part it's ALL FREE...... ...including parking....we have been there 3 times and haven't had time to see it all......if you do plan a trip let me know and I'll get you info so you can see and BOARD retired Air Force One planes...including the famous one that President Kennedy's body flew back in after his assignation in Dallas, TX.....here's more info on Wright Patterson Air Force Museum.....BTW it's the second largest Air Force Base there is. http://www.nationalmuseum.that other site.mil/ BTW........my favorite part is a whole area honoring Bob Hope for everything he has done for our military........and the area also set aside for the Doolittle Raid......this in itself is AMAZING feat for those who have never heard of these volunteer pilots..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doolittle_Raid Here is a tribute to them....... From what my son heard and told me this past weekend.....there are only 3 left from this group.......GOD BLESS THEM ALL -

Because of his commitment to the Air Force it's been 3 years since we could fish or hunt together......his brother and I miss him on those annual fishing/hunting trips....but there is a chance now that he's going to settle in for the next 3 years in DC he may be able to come home this deer season....but it's too early right now to know for sure. -

The New Walter Reed Hospital is really the Bethesda Naval Hospital....I just learned this past weekend that when they closed the old Walter Reed Hospital they renamed the Bethesda Naval Hospital "Walter Reed"....if you remember....the old Walter Reed was basically condemned. -

This past Thursday my bride and I made the 400 mile trip to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Beavercreek, Ohio (near Dayton, Ohio) to celebrate his residency graduation as a doctor with the U.S.A. Air Force. Capt Tim graduated with Honors and was awarded the Military Excellence Award in his class of 50 residences and another 45 interns graduating. We had the pleasure to see and meet the Air Force Surgeon General Three Star Lt. General (Dr) Charles B. Green who was at the ceremony to pass on the certificates.......see here if your interested.... http://www.that other site.mil/information/bios/bio.asp?bioid=5613 So it was a Proud Moment for the wife and I as we got to see our son take another great step forward to what he has worked so hard for... Tim was accepted to do a Fellowship in Washington, DC where he will practicing and learning his speciality at Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland to become the next "House" to run a critical care unit for his country. During Lt Gen Green's Speech we learned that if you arrive at a Air Force Hospital with a pulse you have a 98% chance of survival.....it only takes the Air Force between 20 - 30 minutes to completely set up a hospital anywhere in the world......and the Air Force moved 90,000 patience and have only lost 4 soldiers....not perfect but pretty close to it.... But anyway's here some photo's for those who might be interested in viewing....

I Tried For 2 Weeks To Buy North American NF

But back to the meat thermometer..... I have a nice one that's electronic with a probe that has a wire feeding the readout part.....works great......it's been with us for many years....paid $20 for it about 12-15 years ago..... So we purchased one for my son and his wife because they like how we can cook to temp in the oven or out on the BBQ......first time he uses it we were over for a roast venison dinner.......but the stupid thing keep shutting off after 10 minutes....so it's not constantly moderating the temp of the roast....so sure enough it gets a little over cooked.... Well we thought it was a bad unit so we purchased another one.....but this time a different manufacture name on it......SAME THING....turns off after 10 minutes.....I "GUESS" to save on the battery..... ....pretty useless as it is....it's supposes to moderator the temp and a buzzer is suppose to go off when it reaches the predetermined temp.... YOU GUESSED IT..........MADE in CHINA -
