  1. Thinking about purchasing a boat in the next year or 2. I want something small anyways, not that I have a choice, but will be looking for something around 14' and a deep V. Since my car's towing capacity is only a 1000lbs, Ford Focus Wagon, what kind of weight can I expect with a 14' boat, 15 to 20hp motor and a trailer? And at what point should I consider getting a tranny cooler? Any help would be appreciated.

  2. I'm a Raptor's fan, but I don't think they'll do all that great again this year. Heard they are looking into signin Jarod Jack, solid backup at point, and Klieza, he's pretty good too at the 3 or 4. Thankfully they are in a weak conference, so they may just make the playoffs. Biggest I see with this team is they are soft, and no real post players. Both Bosh and Andrea are face to the basket players with little post game. But am glad they signed Hedo! I was imaging him being a Raptor during the playoffs, and here he is. Just a matter if he can be consistent with his new fat contract.

  3. I've fished the Grand all summer last year, you MUST do the leg work..

the dam at Caledonia is full of smallies, walleye, cats, and carps..

another good access point is York, lots of fish held below the rapids

Everything what KelfuN mentioned is bang on. That is the key, legwork. And York is a great place to start, but watch out for some deep spots, they can come on you in a hurry, probably best to just go in with some old shorts and shoes. Seen lots of guys do that, plus if you go too deep, you'll be fine.

  4. I've never waded there, but there are spots you can get across, just not sure about in front of the dam. Fishing can be pretty good there at times, but is fished frequently at the dam. Theres some good stretches down river, then gets really shallow, but you got a good walk before you hit the shallows. I've caught smallies, pike, rockies and mooneyes there. It's definately worth a try though, let us know how you did and good luck.

  5. I've used both, including the new Fireline Braid. I like PP but I did experience issues casting PP with my spinning reel, wind knots....even when there was no wind, but I do use it trolling quite abit. Found the regular fireline a little noisy going through the guides, and a little stiff, but still a pretty good line. I was however extremely impressed with the new Fireline Braid. Smoothest line I have ever used and casts great so far. I would check it out.

  6. Got there late around 9am. very very very slow. got 3 dinks all day. 22 boats and seen about 12 fish caught. Locals said they were there yesterday LOL

    Todd.

Hahaha, thats funny, too bad it was slow for ya. Thanks for info guys, much appreciated.

  7. Are you fixed on St. Croix? I found that the 7'-6" Shimano Crucial had a way better feel to it, but that's just me. I actually settled for the 7'-2" Crucial, it's awesome. It's a tough size to find though, usually stores will only carry a couple that size. Quantum also carries that size if you are interested, a Tour PT at Grimsby Tackle, maybe FW too. Think I seen a Cumara that size too, which is a ridiculously awesome rod. Good luck

  8. They are about half way up the lake, extending from Tic island west to the Indian reserve (on the other side of the lake).

If you're renting a boat from Bewdley, you dont have to worry about them, because I doubt your going to make a 2 hour run up the lake in a rental boat.

If you plan on fishing their, definately don't rent a boat from Bewdley, like Stoty said, it'll take you 2 hours to get there and by the time you get back, you'll have an empty tank. Also check out alot of the coves by their on the north shore, just anchor and you'll catch virtually every variety of fish in that lake in one place. Let us know how ya do, I'm heading up there in July and possibly a weekend in May.

  9. I had the same problem, except when I was trolling for walleye. After the time I lost 3 husky jerks in 45 minutes, I started using 20lb seaguar flouro. I know most guys wouldn't use that low, but so far so good. No bite offs in 3 years and the pike I did land, each one just inhaled the HJ and line held up. So I'm not sure what lb of flouro you were using, you can try the 20lb and see.

  10. There are some decent spots right close to home. Chippewa CA in Wellandport.

I like that spot bigugli mentioned, I've gone there several times and they have some nice camping spots. You can buy wood there for a nice fire, go swimming in their man made pond, rent a paddle boat or canoe, or go fishing for some good size largemouth, I've caught them up to 3lbs in there, plus tons of sunfish. Or you can head over to the creek and try your luck for some huge catfish. That could be a good start and its just outside of Smithville.
