  2. LOL Dan... I'm on phone #3 since 1985. Motorola stow and go.. mounted in trunk, slap the battery on and use in boat. $1799.99 from Radio Shack. Died at Lakair 2008. Son got me a free hershey bar phone so I could stay analog and then Rogers went GSM.. so I have their FREE phone. Makes calls.. takes text.. what else does one need....

Funny you mention that old phone Wayne. A friend of mine has a cottage on Musky Island, not too far from Lakair, and he still uses one of the original cell phones, comes in it's own 12" x 12" case, haha. The thing is, it has\had way better reception than anything new. which is why he still used it. But the size of it, hilarious.

  3. BB's only place is at work when you have a BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server). That's really the only thing they are good for. If this is for personal use, I would definitely recommend an android type phone. They are awesome! iPhones are pretty cool too though, but an Android for me is the way to go.

  4. Here is a link on how to remove the keyboard. You can either replace it, but I would actually try it in the dishwasher once removed. Sounds crazy but I have heard it done and works well apparently. You can google/youtube that as well.

    Good luck.

  5. A friend of mine built a floating dock using those big blue plastic barrels. I think you used them for water up at your camp? Then built a frame around them and and it's an impressive dock to say the least. He has a pretty wide dock so he probably used 2 side by side, then 3 long. Too bad this wasn't posted last week as you could of checked out the dock in person as his cottage is on an island right by Lakair. I'll ask him if he has the plans for them.

  6. I remember a few years ago I was switching over my vehicle to a newer one, I was with TD, and they said my rates would be a whopping $400 dollars\month with the newer more reliable vehicle!? That was more than triple what I was paying with the older vehicle. I thought it had to be a mistake, but nope. Needless to say I cancelled and even though I broke the contract, I some how got a $368 cheque from them, hehe, that was the only good part.

But I'll never go with them again.

  7. I have fished there a few times in the last couple weeks, fish appear to be on the bottom. I've tried, and several other guys as well, using a float with little success in the pond this year. In the past it worked mint, but this year the slip sinker is catching most of the fish. Good luck if you go.

  8. I am looking at getting a new furnace\ac units installed. The guy who I chose to do the job suggested I go with a 2-stage Payne furnace and AC unit. He stated they are made by Carrier. He mentioned he prefers York, but likes the 10 year warranty that comes with Payne furnaces.

Does anybody on board here have experience with Payne Furnace\AC units? Or is there another recommended brand? Any advice would be helpful.

  9. I am definitely blown away by this news. I never met him in person but he came across as a very sincere and helpful person no matter what the issue was. He stood out the best way a man can, he will be missed.

  10. You can always look at some inshore spinning reels by Fin-nor or Penn. Both brands are known for their durability. But you'll likely have to order online from the states. The Fin-nor drag system is supposed to be legendary as well, and probably over kill for species here, which is a good thing.

  11. Thanks for the replies everyone, appreciated. Yeah GBW, I was looking at a Subaru Outback wagon (2000 @ 144k for 6500) and a Forrester. Still undecided, but not worried about a boat, if I ever got one, it would be a 14' tinny. Not sure what else has a wagon in my price range besides a Ford, Mazda and Subaru.

  12. Well the timing sucks big time, buy my wife got in a car accident last week and now just found out my Ford Focus wagon is apparently a right off. Thankfully she is ok, but some lady took a turn too fast and wide on a side street and she tail-spinned into my car.

Here is where I need some help. I have till December 29th to find a new vehicle, grrr. I'm looking for another wagon and been searching for a Mazda 6 Wagon. At least with that I should be able to tow a small boat. But willing to settle for another Ford Focus Wagon ZTW.

So if anyone here has any leads, please let me know. I live in Stoney Creek and the price range is probably up to $7500. Tall order for sure considering I've looked on Kijiji and Autotrader. Any help would be great!

    Thanks

    Ted
