I have never been beaten by a backlash I pick out my fishing buddies also. I seem to be better at backlashes than fishing.

Love my legend tourneys I have sling blade and the jerk and I may hit Sail this week for a third as all rods are 15 percent off. To me love me christmas present but the wife will be perturbed to say the least when she sees the visa HAHA!
-
Alright I give up even the wife says get 4x4 I was just gonna go bare bones f150 base to keep the price down but will probably keep it 10 yrs anyway so maybe I should splurge a bit. Thanks for the input

Pulling my lund explorer all over the place for the 9 years I have owned it with of all things a minivan never once had an issue at a ramp 200000 k on it . I just want to know if the truck would offer better or worse boat ramp traction than the van?
-
Thinking of replacing the minivan with a pickup and was wondering about traction at boat ramps.I have never had a problem with the minivan but it is front drive.I would rather avoid 4wd for cost mileage etc. My package is 2500 lb but when I upgrade the boat likely about 3500 lb. Any thoughts?

Thought I would ask here before making the drive. Thanks

I thought I would get back into river fishing after a long layoff and I quickly remembered what ruins it for me. The stench of rotting chinooks, idiots with no manners, garbage along the river banks and general chaos. Just because you have an islander float reel and a loomis rod doesn't mean you have any common sense. Although I live very close to the river and it would be convenient to zip over for a few hours the high concentration of idiots in a small area is remarkable. The more I think about stocking chinooks the more I think the resources could be put to better use maybe more trout stocking? I just don't get it. Would it be so difficult for all those pigs to take all their garbage back out of the river with them? COME ON !

I just picked one of these reels up as I wanted to try float fishing without a large investment. It seems pretty decent to me 120.00 tax in. Does anybody else have one and how do you like it?
-
I would use a spinning reel as I have one already but if I get into it enough I may try a float reel. Thanks

What length of steelhead rod would you get for mainly bronte creek. I looked at st croix 9' and 10'6 and they both seemed nice for 100.00 Thanks

what is this sound coming from my 4 stroke
tomkat replied to chrismarkz's topic in General Discussion
My 50 mariner 4 stroke had a similar sound like chirping at low speed it was from the top of the shaft and went away after greased. It was driving me nuts for a while. -
I am using costco and it is really good . I had bad luck with can. tire.

Hey Rich glad you had success the second week. Also nice to meet you and your wife. I will have to try Rainbow Lodge next time.

I am going for 4 days of musky fishing mid Sept. and trying to decide between the two. I have never been to either and was wondering if anyone might have some input. I kind of like the idea of nosbonsing being a lot smaller but I have heard so much good stuff about the west arm. If anyone has been to both I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks

The main problem is so many losers get pitbull type dogs for all the wrong reasons. My dog can kill your dog look at me I have the toughest dog blah blah blah.My dog got torn up at the dog park by one and when I asked the idiot owner if he wanted to help with the vet bills he asked if I have it on video. What is the appeal of a dog that when it does screw up the results can be devastating? When we talk about the owners being held responsible it is already too late and most of them don't have a pot to piss in anyways. Why are these dogs so popular in the rougher areas of the city? None of the lowlifes ever seem to have a retriever or other non threatening breed. Maybe they need to come up with some sort of IQ test before you can have one. Although if you pass the test you probably wouldn't want one anyway.

I was looking for lodging advice as I have never been and was wondering which lodges people prefer and why. Thanks

I had to replace a black box on my mariner 4 stroke some kind of engine control module and I would lose power after it heated up and it would start running on 2 cylinders instead of 4.

sight casting to tailing fish on pristine flats
tomkat replied to tomkat's topic in General Discussion
I was alone so I just popped the hook out boatside. -
Okay I lied. I was on burlington bay doing beer budget flats fishing. I was using my 9wt fly rod and casting at tailing carp and much to my surprise I caught one! The fish took a wooly bugger and ran deep into my backing before I slowed it down and turned it around. It must have weighed 20 plus lbs and it was a thrill to hear my drag scream like never before. This must be the closest thing to salt water flats fishing we have, and would be great practice for anyone planning a trip south. Shallow sand flats and big wary fish that Im sure run as hard as any bonefish or redfish is a fun combination! Sneakin up using the electric worked pretty good and there was no shortage of them to cast at. I plan on doing more of it.

Thanks for the input I will look at those and decide. I may err on the small side for solo fishing.

I would like to get a musky net possibly folding or collapsible for storage in boat. I have the lucky strike cradle which tends to become a tangled mess especially with treble hooks. How big across does it need to be for the welfare of the fish, ease of use,and storage? Does anyone have brackets or holders they use to keep things oranized? Which models are people happy with? Thanks

I just spent 2 days battling the weeds fishing lovesick. I had been there before a couple of times but it was never like this. Has anyone else noticed weeds unusually heavy in the kawarthas this year?
