  1. I wasn't being sarcastic.I just don't understand the need to even take that fish out of the water. When I catch musky solo I cut the hooks and the fish never leaves the water. You jam it into an undersized net drag it in the boat measure it after it thrashes around on the carpet all while making a video?
  2. might want to read up on musky release techniques
  3. Has anyone found a fishing camp type place like we have here in Ont. I would like to try some diy inshore fishing without spending a fortune.Cottage/skiff rental?
  4. I was walking the dog along Bronte Creek and saw a dead salmon on the bank it was pinkish down the side and on the gill covers and would have been roughly 10 lb and 30 inches. I have never seen one like it.
  5. I like my cradle but hooks really get caught in it, I was going to look for one with rubber mesh instead.
  6. Some nice looking fish there. I think it's time for another try after seeing those pics. Thanks
  7. I enjoyed the post on world record potential musky sizes. I was just wondering what are peoples thoughts on the size potential of fish in the Kawartha Lakes? Do they get to 30 or 40 lbs on occasion. and if so how rare is that and how old would they be? I have caught them I would guess at a max of 20 lb but they have been few and far between.
  8. Never in a million years would I pay 1 cent for that cowling. If they rent junk let it be a lesson to them. It was due to lack of maintenance. Maybe in future they won't put people in this situation if they have to pay for it. I'm sure they would find the cheapest used one they could and pocket the 800.00
  9. It is a merc 4 stroke 50hp. I checked fuses but will look again thanks
  10. That costs way more than the kicker
  11. Thanks for the suggestions this happened at night with my son miles from the cottage. I had no way of contacting my wife and it took 2 hours to get back with the trolling motor so she was starting to get really worried. This really has me thinking about a kicker.
  12. What causes a bad ground and how do you find it? Thanks
  13. If anyone has a clue what could cause my boat to suddenly have no power to the ignition and the trim and tilt please let me know. It was at night and I still had power to my lights. Battery connections were good and I tried switching to the trolling motor battery with no luck. The next day it started and ran perfectly. I took it to my mechanic but he could find no problems. Thanks
  14. If anyone has any tips on lure selections I would appreciate it. I tried all my usual Kawartha stuff only to be skunked on two previous occasions. I know theyre in there cause I had some follows on spinnerbaits. Thanks
  15. Had the same thing started after 7 days casting muskie lures. Physio active release and acupuncture did the trick. Casting heavy lures over and over is like throwing a ball and can injure you.
  16. Does anyone use the 7'9'' loomis light bucktail muskie rod? And if so what do you think? I just bought one on ebay and thought it might be a nice Kawartha rod.
  17. I don't know why rapala doesn't offer the jointed model j13 in a more musky size. The black and gold one works great for me but it would be nice to try a larger size of it. The amount of fruitless hours I have had with super shad raps and x-raps is depressing since they look so great in the water.
  18. Apart from spinner baits and the jointed rapalas I don't have much luck with the typical musky lures. Does anyone have any favourite lures they wish to share? Thanks
  19. My 1999 merc 50 hp 4 stroke is making a high pitch sound at low rpm it seems to go away at higher rpm but it could be getting drowned out by the sound of the motor. The belt looks in good shape so I don't think that is it but hard to tell. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
  20. What are your thoughts on the ultimate kawartha muskie rod for all day casting of smaller bucktails crank baits and spinner baits? I want to find the lightest rod possible maybe its not a muskie rod at all but a heavy bass rod? Just looking for some input. My st croix premier musky rods feel like hockey sticks by the end of the day.
  21. I am thinking of upgrading the fishfinder on my boat and was wondering if anyone has any advice? The combo gps ones seem interesting but a bit pricey. And is color worth the extra dough? The one I have now is old and very basic and I think a bit wonky. Cheers
  22. Hello all I finally re registered on the new board it looks great. Heading down to Amelia Island Florida and was wondering if anyone has fished there and what they caught. Thought I might toss a few shrimp in and see what happens.
