  1. You get upset easier than I do :D

Its your lure, why should they keep it.

At least they paid the postage instead of making you pay the return shipping

    Exactly what I was thinking.

They deemed it neglect...and rightfully so...and refused to pay for it and returned your lure. I don't see that Rapala has done anything wrong here. Just my 2 cents.

  2. That looks like a MONSTER pumpkinseed to me. Catch lots in the early fall on Simcoe where I chase crappies. I have got them up to 10 inches.... never got one even close to that size...what a hog.

A PB that will be very difficult to beat, Congrats.

  3. One or two I will use regular knife more I'll use the electric just becasue it is a hassle getting the friggin thing back in to it's case.

The first thing I did....before I even used the knife once...was throw the damn case in the garbage. Can't stand trying to repackage stuff in cases like that...too much farting around.

I went out and picked up a tuperware container big enough to just throw everything in. No frustrating repacking for me!!!

  4. Not too many years ago I held the opinion that I would NEVER use an electric. Then my son got me the Rapala electric for christmas one year. Begrudgingly I gave it a go if only to show my son I appreciated his gift. My only regret is I never got one 10 years earlier. I have 3 regular filet knives now that never see a fish anymore. The electric does not waste anymore meat once you get the hang of it and your hands stay cleaner and it is also faster. I see no downside to the electric.

The electric knive is especially good on smaller perch. I thought it would butcher the smaller fish...but in fact the opposite is true. 90% of the fish I clean are Perch Crappie and Bluegills. With walleye, pike and the odd whitie as well.

Go electric you will not regret it.

  5. Education is never a bad thing, and it's not heavy to carry around with you.

That was a favourite saying of an old neighbour of mine. I liked it and heard it often from him,so it has stuck with me.

However might I suggest you steer clear of predicting Stanley Cup winnners as a career choice. I don't see that working out real well for you!!!!!

JK of course...but I just had to do that.

Good luck at whatever you choose. Give it 100% and you will be fine.

  6. When I was younger I felt the need to spend a lot of money on high-end gear...I've gotten away from that. I still own a couple of Loomis rods and a really nice Fenwick and I like using them, but I'm just as happy using one of my $50 Abu Garcia combos from Canadian Tire. Also I think about it this way...most of the gear I paid top dollar for 10 or 15 years back is not really of any higher quality than the reasonably priced stuff available today. Technology is constantly improving. Today's revolutionary breakthrough is tomorrow's standard feature.

Pretty much 100% agree with the above statement when it comes to rods and reels, but I still buy the top quality I can afford when it comes to outdoor clothing, footwear and rainwear.

  7. The first entire hockey game I have watched all season. The Pens owned 2 periods and the Wings owned the 3rd. Lotsa hitting, great goaltending...at both ends...and the refs let them play. This was the best NHL game I have seen in a long time.

Malkin was a bum last night and could have cost them the game with that dumb arse penalty in the 3rd.

The Pens proved to me last night they can play well enough to beat Detroit. I never believed that before last night.

Too bad I'll be at the cottage...with no cable...for game 7. Which if you believe is superstition, means the Pens will lose...cause if I'm NOT watching the game...the team I am rooting for almost always loses.

  8. I cheer for players...not teams. I have only really cheered for 2 players my whole life. Bobby Orr and Scott Stevens and because of them obviously the teams they played for.

I just can't put my heart behind any players in the NHL now...so I have no "TEAM"

Bobby Orr is the greatest ever...for his game...and his class...and I can't imagine the type of player who would have to come around to change my mind on this.

But to answer your question between your 2 choices...Stevens all the way. His presence on the ice was unmatched by anyone in his era in my opinion. Sad day for me when he hung em up.

  9. Lots of stuff to do at Cypress Lake National Park. Crystal clear if cold water for swimming and you can canoe and fish in Cypress Lake itself good walleye and smallmouth fishing.

I 2nd that. My folks had a cottage up at Johnson's Harbour for over 25 years. I spent lots of time in the park hiking the various trails around Cypress lake and out to Georgian Bay. No motors allowed on Cypress so it is great for the canoe, and the swimming in Cypress is great...the water is shallow and warm...Georgian Bay...well it is always cold...but crystal clear and the shoreline trail in beauitiful and you gotta check out the grotto Cave if you make it up there.

Dorcas Bay...practically right across HWY 6 from the park is a huge public beach on Lake Huron...you can walk out forever and the water still won't be over your waist...great for the kiddies.

Beautiful country up there. I miss it a great deal now that my folks don't have a place up there.

  10. Detroit still dominated them and were the better team, Pitts just scored more goals....right Stoty???

    :thumbsup_anim: :thumbsup_anim: :thumbsup_anim:

This can only end one of 2 ways.

One. Detroit wins and Detroit fans get to do the "I told you so"

Two. The Pens win and Detroit fans get to trot out the excuses about injuries, officiating etc etc etc.

I don't care who wins. I haven't cheered for a team since Stevens retired from the Devils. And the last team I truly cheered for before that had a guy named Orr playing defense for them.

I'd only like to see the Pens win just because one Detroit fan on here...can't remember who :whistling: ...only see's Red and White and is a chirpy arse about it.

Nothing in sports infuriates me more then chirpy armchair arses.

    GO PENS GO

  11. I recognize that spot!!!!

A little greener then when I was there last April. Glad to see you two getting a few. And welcome back to OFC after your long time off.

Also congrats with the weight loss...good on you for sticking to it.

  12. We are small time landlords. My company pension, should our company stay in business long enough for me to retire will be meager, so we had to prop it up with something.

Being a landlord is work and comes with risks/rewards. You gotta take the good with the bad, just like the stock market.

The single best advice I can give you is get a good accountant. I can't stress this enough. When we got started in the landlord thing we had an accountant who a friend worked for. He got us money back every year and we where happy. Then he passed away, so we started a search for a new accountant. This new accountant is brilliant. He has got us TONS...well for my world...TONS... more money back EVERY YEAR. I just wish we would have been with our 2ND accountant from day one, it would have put alot more $$$$$ in my wallet that's for sure.

Overall the landlord experience has been positive for us. Good luck to you if you head down that road.

  13. I never wear a ball cap, except for fishing, then its standard gear. Good sunglasses all the time but especially on the ice. Hemostats are 100 times more practical then pliers... IMHO... cause you can just clip them on your clothing somewhere and you always have them. Nail clippers for cutting line, cause my teeth just don't cut it anymore.A hand towel cause the only thing worse then cold hands is cold WET HANDS. And finally something to keep me hydrated, which is a jug of water most of the time but in the winter it is usually a thermos of homemade soup.

Others things I bring regularly but the above things I ALWAYS bring.

  14. Some people are very protective of there "home" waters. I have even heard stories of well respected members of this board asking posts on this board about fishing on there "home" waters to be pulled by the mods.

To me this whole story is nothing more then that.

Not saying I agree with that went down, cause I don't. Just saying some people react that way to these things.

  15. I retired my first rapala knive 4-5 years ago. I wish I had taken pictures of it to compare it to yours. I think mine was alot thinner then yours before I finally threw it out.

I have 3 other manual knives. All rapala's. Still great knives...but they don't hold an edge near as well as my first one. And since I got an electric 2 years ago I hardly ever use them.

If only they could talk. Old knives would have alot of tales to tell.
