  1. As far as i am concerned, its cheaper than a store, and you dont have to pay tax.

Its also used, and you have no idea what was done with it, as well you can't return it and likely it doesn't have a warranty, so your taking your chances. The value I place on your used goods, may be different than the price you place on your goods. If you have it for sale long enough, perhaps you may change your mind and take an offer lower than what your asking. I am half tempted to see what he is selling now just so I can make a determination as to weather or not I would grace him with an offer. :) haha

  2. Here is the rss feed update Sounds like bull crap to me. At 7am they predict it will crash mid afternoon on Friday(thats 32 hours from the RSS feed release) They say it's too early to project where its going to land but they predictions will become more refined in the next 24-36hours...? Isn't 36 hours for a prediction late? Isn't that kind of like finding it on the ground and saying its likely to land here? They know exactly where its going to land, and they have Bruce Willis an a bunch of miners prepping to intercept it with BB guns right now.

As of 7 a.m. EDT Sept. 22, 2011, the orbit of UARS was 115 mi by 120 mi (185 km by 195 km). Re-entry is expected sometime during the afternoon of Sept. 23, Eastern Daylight Time. The satellite will not be passing over North America during that time period. It is still too early to predict the time and location of re-entry with any more certainty, but predictions will become more refined in the next 24 to 36 hours.

  3. I too like the idea of an off topic forum. I think it would be nice to have a fishing, hunting and off topic forum. And then similar to how big fat bass has theres, setup the main page as a Recent threads page, so you can quickly scan whats new across all forums.

As for the topic at hand here. Even if you say firm no offers and someone offers you something else, it may be an indicator that the value you are placing on it is less than the value potential buyers are placing on it. I will rarely place something firm, unless I actually just want to keep it. I presume people will make an offer. I have had people agree to a price on email, and phone and show up with less money. I usually take it anyway, cause if its to the point I don't want it, I just actually want to get rid of it. If its something I am stuck on a price, I just ignore the offers, but I don't get offended by it.

    To each there own. :)

  4. Sure, eitherway less o2 deep in the summer, lots of o2 after the turnover in the fall. :)

Cold water has an increased capacity to hold dissolved oxygen.

The bottom of a lake that stratifies (yes at about 4 degrees C) can and does hold a great deal of dissolved oxygen but due stratification this D.O. cannot be replenished until the lake turns over in the fall.

  5. Turn over starts when the Epilimnion(upper warmer in the summer) layer hits 50 degrees. Its at this point where the natural water movement will allow it to start to mix with the water in the Hypolimnion Layer(lower cold water at roughly 40 degrees)

To my understanding this is what the result is in the fish. The lowest layer in the summer actually has the highest density and the lowest abilty to hold absorbed oxygen. This is what pushes fish shallow in the summer(minus certain cold water species like lake trout. They suck up the lowe O2 content in favour of the colder water.

During the turnover (when the surface temps reach 50 degrees) the water starts to turn over. The bottom water starts to rise (generally on the West End of the lake first as this is the natural flow of the lake due to prevailing winds). Surface water goes east, bottom goes west and up. You get the dirty water, as well you will get a sulfur smell from all the rotting debris in the bottom of the lake producing methane. The fish are pushed deep to get away from methane rich water. This shuts the fish down as they they are now in new areas, new temps and new o2 content water.

Once the turnover is done, and the water stabilizes. The bottom water is now clean of methane and is oxygen rich, the fish continue to move deep and go on the fall feed bag and are very active as they have adjusted to the new water temp, are in highly oxygenated water low in methane. Often fish will clump together in schools that don't normally (like largies)..

Anyway thats what I was told some time ago, and it kinda makes sense.

  6. Not that hard to skin a deer. We usually hang it head pointed up. cut around the neck through the skin, then down the center of the neck all the way to where you cut the abdomin to get the gut pile out. (Oh yah do that first). cut the butt hole out, and tie it in a knot then pull it out from inside. Try not to puncture any of the organs.

Then do the same as the neck for each of the legs, and start pulling the hide off. once its pulled off, you can clean up the meat and get all the hair off.

Now just follow the bones and cut the pieces of meat off.

There is a tenderloin inside the rib cage by the spine but its usually real small in a doe. Looks similare to if you go to a grocery store and buy a pork tenderloin.

The back strap is the nicest cut in a deer for steaks. Its allong the spine on the ooutside.

The thighs make good roasts, and the rest of the meat we tend to use for either ground venicine, peperettes or sausage.

  7. There is a Barb at work I would like to pinch.

I fish almost exclusively for Bass, and as such I don't pinch the barbs down. However when I do go pan-fishing int he spring I use barbless. I should have used a barbless hook when I found my ex wife. I could have thrown her back easier.

  8. I have the 822S DSR GL2 spinning rod. Its really nice. But hasn't hit the water... Hopefully this weekend. Was hoping I could get a heads up from someone who had one. I don't think there are too many of these kicking around in canada from talk to the retailers, none of them got very many in.

I'll snap a pic of it and post it later. I am on my way to the movies...

I have not used a GL2 but I bought two G.Loomis rods in the last month. One in there Spinnerbait series(6'9MH) and another in there Crankbait series(6'6M). I love these rods both, have only caught a handful of little fish with them but they are super light and paired with Curado's they are a fine match.

I have been looking at a Loomis spinning rod, what one exactly did you buy?

  9. I think he only has one or two left of the drop shot series. I think I got the last of the mag medium ones, I think the one or two left may be the mag light. Its a nice rod for sure. I think he also has a mag medium year old model GLX on sale for about 250 as well. This one is really nice, but I wanted a split grip rod.

  10. If you won the lottery, what would you next fishing trip be like?

I think I would be in a brand new Allison XB2003 with a 300 drag motor down on okeechobee, searching for a 10 pounder. :)

Maybe down further south somewhere fishing for Marlins?

  11. Well, I picked up a new GL2 drop shot rod last night at JB's(I love that place, great service, and great prices), and I gotta say it's nice. I really like the way it feels. It seems to pair up nice with my stradic. Although it feels a bit tip heavy from what I am used to but this may work out for the best while drop shoting as I tend to keep my rod tip down near the water anyway.

I have always been a big Shimano guy with 9 of my 12 tournament rods being shimanos, but I am seriously considering switching over. I know they fall under the same parent, but for now they still have different labells.

Its not as light as my cumara but feels about as sensitive, and is 60 or 70 bucks cheaper. Actually it feels very much like like my vrod that I was using as my drop shot rod, with a bit more sensitivity. I would say from my first off the water impresions, this is my new recommendation for best rod under 200 bucks.

Has anyone used one of these new GL2's on the water yet?
