  3. Yah the phones now are designed with lower range because there are so many more cell towers now than before. My dad used to have one of those phones in a briefcase things. My first phone was when I was in college I bought a woodgrain nokia 232. I was all cool back then. :)

  4. I have a mix of rods of different lengths froma 6' st croix for skipping docks to 7'6" frog and pitching rods.

If I am making lots of long casts covering water I like a 7' rod, spinner baits, crank baits, swim baits

If I am making short casts I like a shorter 6'6

Docks and tight cover the 6 footer gets the nod

Its not an all one of the other for me.

I do find though by the end of a day of fishing I tend to be using either my 7' cumara/e7 combo or and the 6' st croix/stradic combo exclusively.

  5. I have seen two companies go the route of Iphone and switched back to BB. Communication is critical and without a reliable means of sending and recieving attachments, and being able to type reliably and quickly, it just doesn't work for many businesses. There are some nice tools for Iphone, but most if not all of these also are available for blackberry. Blackberry is still the defacto mobile communication device of choice for most businesses for a reason. I am not at all saying an iphone isn't good. It certainly has its merits...Games and a better web browser. However BB is still king for business in my books. Also I would better a shiny dollar that flash will come to handheld blackberries sooner than Iphone. Since the Playbook already has full flash and the ipad doesn't natively. I have heard people getting it to partially work after jailbreaking but it doesn't work reliably.

  6. Have had all the phones, Droids blackberry, iphone etc... I gave the iphone a solid 4 months and got rid of it. Its just not a good business tool. For fun games, and a good web browser yah its fine. I always have a laptop with me, so I browse mostly with that and I hate games on tiny screens. so for me the blackberry works way better. Send attactchments. multiple attatchments, reply and send attachments, set full mp3's as ring tones and alarms with the default programs, I can type 10x's faster on a bb than an iphone. Auto correct sucks on the iphone. etc... if you want fun, trendy and good browser. go with iphone. If you want something with extended battery length, ability to type, calendar etc.... mostly business type stuff than BB all the way. I had curves, bolds and now have a torch and I love it. Big screen, full keyboard, solid email, long battery life.

  7. Looks fine to me. FUnny, my lund SV16 is rated for more hp, weight and passengers. I thought they were the same hull as the DLX. ANyway, looks good to me. not too high up, gives some extra clearance for the skeg over the speed bumps.

  8. I always trailer my alluminums with the motor down and haven't had this issue.

a 3 cyl 30 hp yamaha 2 stroke weighs in at 130 pounds. Your 30 4 stroke is about 25 percent heavier assuming itg weighs 175 pounds. 25% is a fair bit of extra weight. Best thing is to first contact Lund and see if its covered under warranty. Then hang up and call lund back again and ask what the trailering recomendations are for a 30hp 4 stroke honda with that boat. then set it up like that and take it back for warranty work. If its not under warranty work set it up like that and keep using it then look for a place to repair it if need be.

  9. It was likely put on there to rais the motor height. The advantage is a bit better speed on the water as less of the motor in in the water reducing the drag as well it reduces you chances of hitting something by the two inches. The down side of course is the higher you motor it the more preasure it puts on the top of the transom. This can possibly lead to it bending outward.Generally if your going to raise the motor beyong the normal location its safest to do it with a jack plate. This also gives you the added benefit of more setback and this can also increase your holeshot and on plane stability as your boat is now X number of inches longer. Generally for tin boats that have enough oompf in the motor its best to just leave the motor in the standard position. But once you have issue getting on plane people start playing around with motor height etc....

  10. A guy got stuck in a launch one time in his astro van pulling out a 20 foot tin full console boat on a gravel ramp, so I offered to pull his boat out of the water as I was driving a durango. I pulled back hooked up to the trailer and went to pull out of the water. The engine boggedout, and I thought wow what a heavy ass boat. I dropped into 4 low and gave her some gas and bang. The guy had put the park brake and I didn't tell me. I spun the outer hub of rear axle on my durango and snapp an axle shaft, and tore off the rear brake lines.

I blew a trailer bearing once 3 or 4 years ago on scugog island, blew a tire on the 401 on my way to the walleye opener on BoQ, and got a flat coming from peterborough after the crappie opener. Other than that I have been pretty luck I guess...Cross fingers, knocks on wood, throws salt over my should, spins in three circlers counter clockwise and spits twice on the floor.

  11. Hey,

I was talking to a coworker they were looking for a gift idea for her husband so I suggested her to buy him a flight lesson, where he can go fly aplane for an hour or whatever it is. She loved the idea, but I wouldn't be able to offer her a suggestion as to where to go. Do you know a place that would be good that offer something like this?

  12. If you wanna put the cash on the table and get a good reel, go pick up a front drag symetre. They are awesome. Match that with a compre if you like a light rod or a clarus if you want something a bit heavier, and you will have a great copmbo that will last you years.

  13. Grit, tenacity and heart are shown on the ice. I rarely saw that from Sundin. Good skilled hands, lots of ice time, and few other players to score on the team are what lead to his stats. However I would still not put him in the same sentance as Gilmour, clarke, Sittler, roberts etc...... That doesn't mean I think Sundin was a bad player. He was good, but not one of the greatest Leafs.

  14. Funny thing about stats.... Ask yourself this. Who has the most wins in a single season for a Toronto Maple leafs goalie. Would you consider him among the best goalies ever? I hardly think so. If you have talent and your on he ice your going to score. I am not saying sundin wasn't good. In fact I said he had good hands. Just was never a great like Clarke, Sittler or Gilmour. He never played with the fire that these guys did. It has nothing to do with where he is from or how many public endoresments he had. He just didn't play with the fire. Imagine if Tucker had the size and skill of Sundin. He no dout logged a tone of minutes and played every power play over the years and of course was bound to get lots of points. In my eyes he just didn't play with the grit, heart and tenacity of the three players that were mentioned.

  15. I am hopeful for kessel. He has the skill, he has the wheels He won't see his full potential if he doesn't learn to play with more grit to create his own chances or have a solid, fast playmaker beside him. I was really hoping for Richards. I think Richards, Kessle, and Grabovsky would have made an amazing first line for the leafs. Maybe we have a chance at drury, He wouldn't be half bad either.

Man oh man I gotta stop reading this thread, I have Leafs on the brain and its only the begining of July.

  16. Very sad, I find boating at night is dangerous and I rarely do it anymore. A few years back I was on BoQ and I almost creamed two seperate boats anchored in the navigational channel with no lights on in the middle of the night.

If your on the water at night put your lights on and be aware. If a boat is coming near an at night you can hear a boat coming near you. Make sure they see you and be ready to move out of there way if need be. Don't just take it for granted that you are in your spot and they need to avoid you. I wouldn't be surprised at all if booze had a role.

  17. I have to disagree.

He wasn't the same style of player as Gilmour, or Clarke. Just because his emotions weren't out there for everyone to see, doesn't mean he didn't play with heart.

I don't recal seeing Roberts going on outbursts or rants but he did play with emotion and played with heart and was a leader. A player doesn't need to rant and rave on the ice. But he has play with heart. Something Sundin rarely did. Look at how great he played when he played for his country in the olympics. He played gritty, hard and with heart. Something I rarely saw him do even in the playoffs. and I saw several deep play off games in person. This is just my opinion though. Like I mentioned some people liked that floater style of play.
