A 4 cyl wrangler is not too bad on gas, I had one of those. I also used it to tow a 21 foot blazer bass boat with a 250merc on it. I would say that is NOT a recommended towing arrangement for a boat that size. However it pulled around my 16 foot lund without issue.

An SUV or a wrangler shouldn't be considered if gas is a concern. If you need to tow a decent sized boat your options are fairly limited. Towing, 4x4 and fuel mileage is not something that has been solved yet. a 6 cyl wrangler will get about 15-18mpg in the city if you drive it gingerly and use stock sized tires. I have never had a jeep with less than 31's.

When I'm out on the water I'll take the peace & quietness of my electric any day, thank ya very much

x2 I would much rather use the gas to get me there, and the trolling motor to keep me there. less pollution in the water and in my lungs...

yah me too. Its really hard to drive something else once you get jeep in your blood.

I have had 2 TJ's a cherokee and now the liberty. in between I had a silverado, Stealth and a corolla but I always end up in a jeep.

If I had the money I would be in a 4 door Wrangler right now. I think that will be my next vehicle. I need 5 seats.

True but we do out of consideration wave at the TJ owners when they run out of fuel on the trails. lol

Mind you this was more fun to drive around in during the summer...

Put it this way, pretty much ANY V6 with real 4x4, not awd or locking 4wd, or anything like that will more than likely pull anything within reason that you would want in relation to the size of boat you are looking for. A true 4x4 will typically have big brakes and a strong frame without even having to wonder if its built on a car chasis or something like that.

Now for the bad news, a vehicle with 4x4 will be bad on gas. Your gonna have to accept that. Many pickups get as good mileage as any SUV so you aren't gonna save much in gas by going SUV. As far as reliability goes, brand X or Model Y is as reliable as the people driving it, I now people with corollas that blew head gaskets at 100k, I had a corolla that rotted away with 700,000km's on it. Drive it like a used car (EG don't flog the hell out of it), fix what needs to be fixed and keep the fluids topped up and clean and more than likely ANY 4x4 vehicle will do you just fine. I have heard of Xterra's have major issues with the superchargers, I have heard of Lib's having issues, Durango's, explorers, yota's honda's, fords etc.... 10k is a good chunk of change as far as a used SUV goes. my '05 liberty with 104,000 km's cost me 5000 dollars.

If I was going to rec a truck I would look at the .05 and up Dakota short box quad cabs. not too huge, looks current, and reasonably reliable enough.

I like my liberty. Lots of grunt, haven't had any issues with it. Way more comfortable to drive on the highway than any wrangler I had, and better on gas than any of my cherokees. How many seats do you need? And dito as above on the gravel and dirt ramps. 4x4 is a god send when pulling a boat out of the water on a rainy muddy ramp.

Sounds to my like she burnt or broke something inside the motor unit. Get it back to the store. If they say no, then hit minkota service dept for warranty work. Do it smell burnt or anything? I would hesitat taking anything apart until warranty and return options have been attampted.

I have a couple V-rods and the cork is getting pretty slick, what's the best thing to correct this? Replace the cork altogether or can I sand them down and treat them with something?

Also I have another rod that I like but the epoxy is starting to crack around the guides, can I just put some blobs of epoxy on these or should I not worry about it?

The ontario record sits at 51" and 15.79 pounds I would love to see that 55....

Personally I don't think I would want them associating my house with food. I have been a hunter for a while and I want them as far away from my house as possible. I am not saying you gotta kill them, just take away the food, and chase them away, eventually they will get the idea and not come back. Get some pictures for sure. If you don't have a trail cam you can borrow mine for a bit if you want to get some pics. I am in Toronto so if you come down this way let me know. I need it back in a few months though.

I am a firm believer in getting new people out with you. I make it a point to get new anglers, and new gun owners out there. Alot of people are interested in both but they just don't know how, or how much fun it is. Share our sports and pastimes and only good things come of it. They both have new ugly sticks (I had them go to Flaherty's) and fishing licenses. This puts more money into the pockets of our retailers that we love and money into the MnR(hopefully).

Anyway a bit nieve that I think I make a difference on my own, but consider this a challenge to everyone here to get someone new out fishing, hunting or out to a gun range. There are so many haters, anti's and pollitical negatives out there we need as many people interested as possible.

I rarely post reports here do to the flack people often get, but this is a big forum with dedicated outdoorsman. We all complaign about how to make a positive difference for pollitical and other issues that suround us so get someone new into the sport and it will only help.

Thats my soap box for the season...... At least until the 12-13 NHL season starts and its time to rant about the leafs and sens. lol

Keep your receipts and hope you got them at a good dealer. I like the shimano products, just been a bit soured as of late.

Traded several emails with shimano about this last year when i tried to get two of my rods replaced. Turn me off of shimano,Only trouble is I have about a dozen shimano rods and a dozen shimano reels. They are slowly starting to get weeded out.

Bears will come back. They have relocated and tagged bears hundreds of miles and the come back. It is very unfortunate. but once a bear gets comfy in a spot and gets acclimated. Dispatching them is the only thing left to do.

They like bird feeders. Get a trail cam and set it up and try and figure out a pattern. The MnR may pending there budget come and remove it. I reported a bear when I was living in gravenhurst and the MnR asked if I was a hunter and said to dispatch of it as thats what they will do.

Only in brampton would they need a bylaw to make owning an alligator an offense...
