  1. Does anyone know the exact model of guitar that bettencourt uses in the video for More than words? I am thinking a Washburn PR7E, but it looks different. Deeper cut at the bottom. Likely a special one off just for him but, I figured I would ask.

  2. You can look for a prop that is designed to give stern lift, like a cleaver. This will get more boat out of the water and reduce your drag. Since you lose bow lift with a stern lifting prop, this can have a negative affect but if you are already porpusing and you get out of the hole ok, then you could likely be ok with losing some bow lift. But don't forget you are driving an allumium boat and not a bass boat.

  3. I believe for trout nets cotton netting is preffered and I thin kthey have them at lebarons as well as basspro.

As for a camera, I have two, a Dslr and a point and shoot. The point and shoot is waterproof and lives in my tackle bag. Its an Olympus uTough about a year old. works fine for what I expect out of it. anything I want a nice picture of I plan ahead and bring the good camera.

  4. They put a tonne of RnD and engineering to bring the spool weight down as low as possible on purpose. Why on earth would I added twice the weight of line when the water will never touch that line. I mean think about it.... 50 yards of power pro is 150 is 150 feet. When the last time you were vertical jigging in 150 fow for bass? or perhaps take a monster cast halfway the length of a football field? Not likely. jmho. I usually put a 150 yard spool split with 2 reals, and have some left over put about 30 feet or so of mono on first with 8-10 pound.

also that line you are slipping onto the next reel backwards has been sitting getting damp and drying over and over must be causing some level of weakness over an entire season or two. I would rather just get fresh line when its time to change. Why not just keep the other 75 yards on the box tucked away clean and safe at home.

  5. I use mono backer, and since I fish for bass and have NEVER been spooled on bass, I only put enough line on so that the line sits just past level with the center of the reel line guide. This helps reduce friction when casting as well less line means less weight means a faster spool means longer casts.

  6. I gave myself stitches while in the backcountry a dozen or so years ago. When I got out and went to the clinic a week laer they injected some anticeptic or something around it. removed my stiches and everythign held together... mind you I still have a scar from it. but I stayed alive and fished the whole week. :) Other than that I am knocking on wood as I have been fortunate enough to not need to do anything else.

  7. If they don't have receptors to detect the scent of WD-40 how do they have receptors to detect the human scent?

I have also heard of bilgewater.

I remember reading one book written by Bernie Taylor where WD40 was mentioned (I think it was called "Big Trout: How & Where to Target them")

In the book it was mentioned that trout do not have the receptors to detect or interpret what WD40 actually is. As such, it can be used to mask human scent on the lure. With that said, I've never used WD40 on any of my lures nor do I ever intend to considering all the other fish attractants on the market (eg. GULP, YUM, Dr. Juice, etc).

  8. Well I feel like I owe it to post a good experience I had at bass pro. Over the years I have loved and hated bass pro. I feel, not unlike many others, that I was or have been wronged at certain points when trying to get warranty workm returns, custommer service or attention.

Out of chance I had a Bass Pro brand rod in the car while I was at Vaughan Mills. I bought it last year for my fiance as a cheapo bass rod. It was a Viper combo. 40 bucks or something like that. An IM6 rod according to the stamp, but honestly it feels more like a wet noodle. Anyway the grip that I thought was full cork was just a thin cork wrap. It half peeled off over a year of fishing, so I thought I would take it in and see if they would exchange it. Well to my astonishment without my receipt they actually took it back and gave me a full store credit. No argueing or explaining.

The guy even asked if I would rather exchange it or have a store credit to buy something else. I thanked him took the creidt and bought a St.Croix Premier that was on sale for 20 percent off. Anyway Bass Pro, if you are listening I hope you are actually changing your ways and this was not just a random allignment of the stars. Mind you the 2 guys in front me were cursing away, so I think I got lucky.

Until we meet again Bass Pro... Just know this, your service on that day pulled an extra 60 bucks out of my pocket that would have otherwise gone somewhere else.

  9. Skunked means... no fish in the boat...

The following do NOT count as a fish unless you are actively targetting them.

    1. ANY OOS Fish (If you count this as a fish you are admitting to being a poacher)
    2. Rock bass of any size
    3. Panfish that are not of keeper size if you were to be targeting them.. eg a 4 inch perch the size of your husky jerk doesn't count. however a 12 Inch jumbo would count as a fish
    4. Anything that is not a fish (Seagull, Loon, Turtle, Mussle, Mud Puppy)

  10. I have the olympus Tough, I wouldn't recommend that other than it is waterproof. Also some of the rugged and waterproof ones actually need to have a seal kit replaced every couple of years, just something to keep in mind before taking the plunge so to speak.
