The obstacles were not big enough imo, and they were not long enough. We were in the first group so the course was in good shape. Not many were helping people out as I think everyone in the lead pack was in pretty good shape and didn't need it or want it. I didn't need help on any of them either, I did fall off the rings do to the stupid gloves I bought(Dakota Tarrantuala) supposed to be grippy but when wet they were useless. The everest challenge wasn't too challeneging as I ran up on my feet and when I jumped I was up to my waist high on the top. If it was wet and muddy yah would have been more difficult. The shock parts were not comfortable and as mentioned I gotput on my face. To be honest I do have a problem with them touting this up with "probably thetoughest event in the world" thing, when clearly its noteven close. I mean yah you couldn't have run the entire thing so that would have been tough, but the same goes for things like eco challenge, grudgerun, warriors dash etc... From what I saw everyone finished accept those that got injured. I mean to finish you could have walked the entire thing and skipped all the obstactles and still finished the toughest event in the world. Having said that, am I sore? hells yah. Do I feel like I accomplished something? Yah sure of course. But more in the training and excersiing and dieting that my team and I did leading up to the race. The race itself was more of a reward for me and my team. Plus since I am not really into the whole phsych you up at the begining thing as I tend to inspire myself. I mean they got that speach down pat. Anything that seemed adlib was repeated over and over all day. Having completed it I certainly wouldn't try and pass off to anyone that I completed what could be the toughest event on the planet. I would tell people I did it and they should too because its fun.

Hard to tell but she was getting owned by the shockers... She was screaming the whole way.

Well My Mudder team and I finished today and earned the beer, the shirt and the headband... Was lots of fun. as for the critical review of the event. It was fun. No doubt. It was fairly long about 18k. However I didn't get winded, nor were my legs killing me. I could have gone much further. I think this was because I tweaked my knee going over the first 10 foot wall and couldn't really push it. My knees are being iced as I type this. I recorded a video of the final obstacle. The dreaded Electro Shock therapy. I took two headers going through. Got whacked really good. It was a luck of the draw, some got zapped and some did not. Well everyone got shocked but some of the shocks froze your whole body putting in in the mud and some just felt like static. Here is my Team of mudders. Left to right... Paulie(lost 35 pounds training), Stevie(from 235 to 178pds WOW) and Me(lost 11 pounds... but I started out not in too bad a shape) And my video of the shock therapy at the 17km marker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_ylXJi_Rkc

WOW check this one out... www.grudgerun.com Anyone heard of it?

Yah I know a few people that have done warrior dash and spartan, and no offense to them but... well no comment... I think as long as our team escapes injury, the lungs and muscles should hold up for the duration. Good luck to those that are going in an know people going in.
-
I have heard that most people thaop out do so after the first hill. I hope you got your legd lungs ready.

haha our team name is R U My Mudder We are starting at 8am... what time are you starting at? Should be good can hardly wait. I looked at the registration sheet, looks like about 16k people starting on Saturday people leaving in groups every 15 minutes. Its going to be a freakin madhouse. So lets run the math here... about 10,000 people on course at a time... spread out over 11 miles...hmmm That's 910 people per mile... 1760 yards per mile... That's one person every 1.9 yards per person... Gonna be a packed course.

Well its been a summer of fishing in pain for me. I have been training pretty hard for the 2012 tough mudder. 18km obstacle course at mount st.louis moonstone. I have lost some fat and gained some muscle. My team mates have lost a good chunk of weight. In all I think we are down about 60 pounds between three of us in 2 months of training. I have worked up myself to be able to run pretty much full tilt for about 3km's. I have been alternating biking and running to work.. 16kms round trip. Pretty excited to get this under way... Is anyone else going in or have been in? If you haven't seen or heard of it here is the promo video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh5HdPM_QuE

And use the real names, don't just let them write down bird. It won't take them long to absorb the differences between tes of frogs, toads, bugs birds. -

Get some notepads and pencil for each one, have them write down all of the animals and bugs they see and track how many of what they see. Take them on some hikes to get them started, point out frogs, butterfllies moths, ants, bees, birds etc... Mine really enjoy this. They always have a huge list at the end of every camp and cottage visit. Teaches them to be observeant and keeps the occupied. -

One nation under god? No thanks... not for me... More like one Planet under the sun. I think its time to evolve and grow beyond our borders. I look forward to a time where borders are meaningless, people are free to travel and thrive anywhere they see fit, allowed to believe and practise any religion, Gay Black white asian european muslim jew croat serb are no longer labels or something that needs to be tolerated. They are just accepted the same way you are accepted because your hair is this color or you feet are a size 9. Where Military Power has become a means of policing and protecting people and there rights and freedoms versus out to defend and attack other humans and countries. Where Science and Exploration of our planet and other planets are front and center. Bigger issues like medical and environmental sciences are daily talking points. Engineers and scientist are viewed as hero's. Could it happen? I doubt it. I can hope for something bigger than, "Lets get some big guns to protect ourselves and wall us in." I am all for military spending and unfortunately in this day and age it's a necessary evil. I just try to not miss thefact that it is an evil. -

Its unlikely any sort of world peace will ever happen, too much money and pride at risk. I can hope for something bigger and better for the world though. -

Then the terrorists have beaten you already. They are not out to conquer a country, but out to strike fear into you. Do you fear Louisiana? Do you fear new mexico? Why fear iran if iran is part of your country? There will always be religous radicals. There are lots in the United States. That doesn't make me fear the United States though. Take away to reason for fearing a country by melding them into one. Focus on the individuals out to insite hate and fear. Think back to before the American Civil War. Noone thought that the states would become united and see eye to eye. Same goes now. Borders are already breaking down between nations. There is always some pain. There are always nationalist and religous nut jobs that want to insite fear and hate to further there cause or keep the walls up. Eventually it will happen that the earth will be united. Likely not until an alien invasion nearly wipes us out. -

I speak both...'cmon bob you don;t actually think a country in this day and age would try and overtake another one do you? A good balance of peacefull relations and military defense is the way to go imo. Much of the american military funding is offensive first strike. I am all for the various militaries. What about a ReVamped United nations wher the UN is the only militaryNo candian army, no american army, no Birtish army. Its all one and the same. People serve all around the world in a true joint military, each nation putting in sum of money for funding.... How are we possibly going to explore new worlds and galaxies if we are still unable to have a peaceful planet. One nation under the banner of Earth. Everyone united, various countries are now symbollic in nature. Every person free to travel, live and work anywhere in the world without persecution. Why can't the world be one giant nation? Because of greed and nationalism. Entire heards of nationalistic sheep believing the false promise of freedom and peace while waving a flag that is in fact the very reason there is no peace. No I am not saying one country or another is to blame. Its all of the countries. Who would there be for "terrorist X" or "Communist Country Z" to hate if the countries were all one and the same? Divide not by pollitics or borders but only by a plane ticket or train ride with an "Earth Passport" umm... what were we talking about? Oh yah, mars... Let all go to mars. -

Well, my take is I would rather they spend a couple trillion on space explorartion than on building nukes, tanks or aircraft carriers. Think of what the world would be like if everyone took there collective military funding and used it as a means of generating peace and breaking down walls... like the berlin wall that noone thought would ever come down. -
Congrats... Hope you got some good sleep last week. Haha

He also has had that for a realy long time. Its an old plastic flamboux tan and purple one. If any saw and picked up it would be great if you could shoot me a line. Thanks.
