icefisherman Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 I need to repair some small tears in my boat's vinyl seats. Tears are about or less than an inch in length. Want to take care of them before getting to big. Has anyone attempted to do this and what would be the best and economical way to complete the job? Any kits one can buy? Thanks. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
JorgeCarlos Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 last year i had a tear on a vinyl seat wich is about 4ft. by 2ft. wide took it to get fix and i was charged $225, at the start this season again is the same happening, even the guy put new vinyl, and he have since moved. if u can take cushion out and take it to a shop, but first make sure you shoppe around for a good job and price.
Ralph Field Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Places selling liners for pools may have products for repairing small slits in vinyl. I would likely use electricians tape or duct tape or book binding tape.
Jer Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 I just picked up a product called "tenacious tape" at Can Tire in the camping section. I used it to repair a small split in my boat cover. Very impressive stuff. I don't know if it will stand up to the pressure of a butt on a seat, but worth a try.
Wolf 3 Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 For small tears, VLP Vinyl Repair by Plastic Dip. I think it is available at Home Depot.
cityfisher Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 I repaired by sled seat by getting some heavy duty thread and sowing the split. Then put on some heavy duty epoxy overtop. Looked great 2 years later when i sold the sled.( it did take a long time)
