fliptheslop Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 I was wondering are steelhead eggs as good to use as salmon eggs for roe? Also does anyone have a simple but good way to cure them
charlied Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 I find them better....and what I do is just water harden them in the water you got the fish from.....the water is usually cold enough to harden them...keep in a bag for rinse them off and drain water...then put more stream water in there and leave for like 10-15 minutes...thats all I do!
ccmtcanada Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 If you cant do it streamside, then I find that really cold distilled water works great for hardening them too. I use only steelie roe to catch them...mind you, I'm not that good at it....LOL
charlied Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I still find that when I get into say late April and most of may.....I get more fish on a single small yarn egg.
