Eventually I had good success with many smaller swimbaits with hard and soft bodies up to 6 inches. The 8 inchers, not so much... Probably because I didn't stay with them. After all they are much more realistic than a Suick or Sledge etc. My first problem was I caught Kawartha Musky and bass up to seven pounds on solid body frogs/toads, or Flukes that cost a few cents apiece, instead of the price of a case of beer! Garnet Posted January 20, 2013 Report Share Posted January 20, 2013 Think I'm the only person to still have 3.8-1 Curado. Started throwiing swimbaits at OBF in Candlewood CT. I was struggling with 5-1 ratio being just to fast. Slowly I removed line 20 to 25 ft at a time. At 120 ft of 20lb braid off my 5-1 Curado 200 I hit the majic spot no more concetrating just wind at my speed. Yes the 3:8's were at home The 3:8's are perfect for this stlye of swimbaits. T Dot Posted January 21, 2013 Report Share Posted January 21, 2013 (edited) i use: SHIMANO Curado 301 DVS 6.3:1 ratio i figure you can slow down any quick reel to any pace, but you can never get a low ratio reel to speed up (especially when you need to catch up to a fish).
