musky66 Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 I always thought aluminum hulls used bunks just to prevent damaging the hull, while fiberglass boats could better handle the pressures of rollers.
SlowPoke Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Rollers vs. Bunks It's my opinion that manufacturers offering lifetime hull warranties would have givin this some serious thought. If rollers are bad, why would they offer it as an upgrade on thier packages? For consideration... (hit escape to stop the music) http://www.ladyangler.com/tips.htm And from Shorelandr... (check out "R" Roller and "XR" styles) http://www.shorelandr.com/pages/t_b_style.html Emil and I have the XR style. Driving on is easy provided you haven't backed in too far. The front rollers will guide you to the snubber and once you have the strap attached and winched the rear of the boat has no choice but to be centered. On steep ramps or if you have backed in too far, walk the boat up to the snubber and pull out very slow. It will center itself as you pull out. You could benefit from guide posts in either instance. I considered them for mine but found they really weren't necessary. -Brian
