Beauty fish Laszlo

My mate Kris and I have made it out a few times over the past few weeks in several bays around the Toronto Harbour area. We spend a lot of time running and gunning from one bay to another looking for active fish, and it has paid off so far. We've boated around 50 or so Pike in the past few weeks, a lot of smaller guys but a few nice one's too. The water temps have varied considerably, from 49F one weekend to 62F the next. During the colder temps the fishing was natuarally much slower, we had to slow our presentations way down to entice a bite. The most productive baits by far have been the Rapala Husky Jerks and X-Raps, using a very subtle twitch pause retrieve, and you guessed it, 90% of the fish we have caught hit the bait on the pause. I'll let the bait sit without twitching it for 5 to 10 seconds at times, it takes patience try it, it's harder to do than it sounds lol! As far as colours, Silver/Black, Baby Bass, Perch and Tennessee Shad have worked well. As you'll see below in some of the action shots, the Terminator spinnerbaits nailed a few fish too, 1/2oz in white/chartreuse. The spinnerbaits will generally only prove to be productive when the water temps are at or above the 60F mark, below that the pike generaly won't hit the faster presentation. The most productive times for us have been a little later in the morning, between 8am and 11am, once the water warms up a little from the sun the Pike seem to wake up and put on the feed bag. The Fall is a great time to have a shot at hooking into some good sized Pike as the larger females move into these bays for the Winter. If you fish these bays please do me one favour, practice catch and release. These fish are no good to eat and are way to valuable a resource to kill off for no reason. How many cities in the world can you catch trophy pike? Not many, so let's put them back for everyone to have a shot at enjoying. below are a few shots of some of the better fish we've hooked and boated: Cheers, Shaun

I found this intersting article and thought you guys might be interested. The piece talks about how we can have less impact on the environment while enjoying outdoor activities that include tow vehicles. Is there a green way to tow? Cheers, Shaun

bassman, sorry for the delayed response, my camera was in for repair and I wanted to post a picture. I took a couple of nice shots but I think this one really showcases the many features and clean lines that this boat has to offer. As for value I'll leave that up to you to determine... Rattletrap2, TBC means to be confirmed. We have a pretty good idea where it's going to air but haven't signed anything yet, hence the TBC. We have a lot of work ahead of us to make this happen so your support is much appreciated. You can keep an eye out for updates etc. on the official show website too: http://www.shaunrickard.com Cheers, Shaun -

uglyfish, I can't say too much right now but we are working on some ideas to get the show back up and running again. Unfortunately we lost a major sponsor due to a corporate takeover as we began production of season-3 and the funding just wasn't there to get the show to air. If you're interested you can join our Facebook group for updates etc, I post a lot of reports and videos etc their that you may be interested in. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6426308129&ref=ts Thanks for your feedback and interest, much appreciated Cheers, Shaun

Johnny Bass, I didn't weigh it but I'd give it a good 14 to 15lbs, it was a really thick fish. Also, when looking at the pictures, bare in mind that I'm 6ft 6in and weigh 275lbs, I tend to make any fish look small Cheers, Shaun

Lew's right, it's a beautiful little lake. Below are some liks to videos from segments Musky and Bass episodes that we shot on Lower Buckhorn. Hope they help. There is another ramp that I often use located at Beachwood Resort in Deer Bay. You'll find details on places to launch in the vids too. Hit Lake O last weekend with with my mate Mike for some late summer Pike. We boated 10 Pike total and missed a few others... Great day! All the fish hit Terminator Spinnerbaits, white and white/chartreusse.

Fish-Fishburn, I won't get into a back and forth here as to who's wrong and who's right here, as Roy said you be the Judge. All I can tell you is that I was there last week and I stayed in Mikey Big Fish, and the experience was all positive. It's a very nice cabin located on the water close to the docks. We had some great Walleye and Bass action too. I've posted pictures below of some of the fish we caught casting crankbaits along deep weedlines, and the baits that we caught them with. I hope you have a great trip and look forward to reading your report. Cheers, Shaun
