Hello everyone, I'm going fishing for some Brook trout for the first time and I need some help regarding what line I should use? I will be casting and trolling in a lake. I would assume either 6-8 lb. mono or fluorocarbon? Not sure what brand is best either since I only use Power Pro for my Pike and Bass set ups. Thank you in advance for your expertise.

Hey Everyone, Just wondering if I use a small snap swivel while Ice fishing for Panfish, Pickeral and Pike......Will it negatively effect the lure action or deter the fish? Thanks!

Would I be able to rent an Ice Aguer from any of the bait shops or other tackle shops in the BOQ or Simcoe area? Or did I just think of a good busines idea for the winter? Thanks!

Possible dumb question.......... Does this chumming method work for all species? Pike, Pickeral etc. Or is it only recommended for Whitefish? Thanks in advance for not laugin at my lack of knowledge. lol

I went to BPS today and ran into Greg Klatt. He was working there, although he was wearing an Ice fishing shirt? Not a BPS one. Anyway, he was extremely helpful (Thank you Greg) and along with everyone's help from here...... I was able to buy a Frabill rod&reel set up and some line that suits my needs. Although I will also try DanC's suggestion and try a willow branch as a secondary set up for another hole. I'm sure it will work just as well! Any lure suggestions for perch, pike and pickeral? I found the selection at BPS a little overwhelming since this method of fishing is new to me. Thanks guys for all the info and advice guys. I truly appreciate it.

Hi Everyone, I wanna buy my first ice fishing rod this year and I have absolutely no idea what to get. I asked my buddy and he told me not to buy one.......just use piece of a hockey stick and some line Anyway, I will most likely be fishing for perch, pike and pickeral. I'm looking for an all purpose rod & reel that will be the best bang for my $. Nothing expensive, but reliable and good enough that it won't freeze. Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas to all!

Hi Everyone, I have decided I want to explore fishing rivers next year and I currently don't have the proper gear. I bought some chest waders based on some opinions from this site (thank you). But I don't know what type of rod, reel and line to buy? I'm not interested in learning how to flyfish yet, so I would prefer it if someone could recommend a Spinning set-up. I have a few questions about freezing fish.......What is your preferred method of freezing fish? Should I add water to the freezer bag? Any general areas that are good to fish from a boat? What about at the end of Tiffin St. from the docks? When does that area start to turn on? My little girl has started to really enjoy our shore lunches and I'm feeling a little pressure to deliver maybe one or two more before it's time to start thinking about Bambi and her friends. lol.
