  1. Unfortunately GSP doesn't fight until next weekend.
  2. Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. One of the things that is making me hesitant about buying a flasher, is that I have been told they aren't the easiest things to use and/or analyze what it's telling you. I'm a novice compared to most people on this board and have never used a flasher or watched somebody else operate one. Are they difficult to use?
  3. Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying a new toy for ice fishing and before I do, I would like to hear some opinions if you would be so kind. Should I buy a flasher or an Underwater camera? I'm leaning towards a flasher, but then I start to wonder which brand offers a better product.........Vexilar or Marcum? Or should I buy an underwater camera? Any advice is greatly appreciated as always. Thank you!
  4. Hi Everyone, Where's the best place to buy a decent manual ice auger? Thanks in advance.
  5. We're going up there at the end of the month. Just curious to know how the fishing is so far this year.
  6. Hi everyone, I need some recommendations for a place that sells/makes pepperettes in the GTA (preferably Brampton/Mississauga area). I have tried the ones that you can buy at Sobey's, Zehrs, Fortino's etc. and in my opinion they're no good and don't compare to the ones that I usually buy at the Sportsmen Show. Unfortunately I can't remember any of the names of the businesses that are at the shows. Does anyone know a shop I can buy some GOOD peperettes from? I need to stock up for the ice fishing season. Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. Where can I find this book? Indigo.ca says it will ship in 3-5 weeks. I can't wait that long.
  8. Hi Everyone, I would like to buy my first tipup, but I have no idea which one I should buy. Plastic or wooden? Is there a particular brand that offers the best bang for my buck? Thanks!
  9. Hi Everyone, I'm going on my first overnight ice fishing adventure and I want to make sure I bring everything I need. What is essential to bring on my trip? What are some "nice to haves"? Any recipes you can share to cook would be great too! Thanks, Hukd
  10. This is a great topic. Does anyone have any other insights?
  11. How long do you use an ice fishing lure before you change it if you are not getting any action, but you know there are fish in the area? Thanks in advance!
  12. Hello everyone, I am wondering if using a small snap swivel while ice fishing will negatively effect the action of a jig, spoon or hard bait to the point that there is no point in using one? If I am constantly changing my presentation throughout the day with numb fingers.....I think I would be wasting precious fishing time fumbling with the line and lure. What are the pros and cons of using a snap swivel? Should I use one at all? Thank you in advance for your help.
  13. Thanks Aile Goby! Do you use any spoons tipped with a minnow, worm or maggot? Any particular colour for the Salmo Chubby Darter? Or specific colours for any of the other lures? Sorry for all of the questions.
  14. Hello everyone, All this snow and cold weather has made me start to dream about the hard water season. I'm going up north to Nipissing this winter to try some ice fishing and I have minimal experience in this area of fishing to say the least. Just wondering if I could get some suggestions on what lures to bring and any techniques that will help make our trip sucessful would be fantastic too!! We are targeting Pickeral and panfish. Thank you in advance for your help!!
  15. bigugli, I sent ya a PM. Does anyone have any suggestions for another lake? Thanks!
  16. Hi Everyone, I'm anxiously waiting for the hard water season to begin! Just wondering if I could get some expert advice on where I should book a 4-6 man hut this year? I'm hoping to get away for the weekend with the guys, we are willing to drive a max of 4 hours from Barrie for some good fishing. I figure it's probably wise to book it now. Target species - Pickeral and Panfish, the odd Lake Trout/Pike would be great too. The reason why I need your help is that we are hoping to make this an annual event, so I'm hoping we can go to an excellent spot the first year. Thank you in advance for your help!! I truly appreciate it.
  17. Thanks everyone for your help. I think I will try both this weekend. Any suggestions regarding colours and seize to use for the worm harnesses? Just so I understand......One suggestion is to attach a worm harness to the bottom bouncer with a 24" flouro leader and add a worm? Thanks!
  18. Hi everyone, What is your preference while trolling for Pickerel? Bottom Bouncers? Or Worm Harnesses? I have never used either and I'm thinking about trying them out this weekend. Thanks in advance for your advice!
  19. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm just looking for a nice get away where catching fish is fairly steady and I can bring home some fish for my two little girls. They love fresh fish! Cost is really an issue, but I'm not looking to do a fly-in this time. Definitely in the future though! I don't plan on spending much time in the cottage/camp anyway. I will be on the lake from sunrise until the night. Anyone else have any ideas?
  20. Anyone else have any suggestions? Or is my request too broad? Thanks in advance for your replies.
  21. Hi Everyone, My b-day is coming up soon and I want to book a fishing trip for next spring/summer. I know it's kinda early - lol. But I want to get a head start on my research and to be honest I love to dream about going away with the guys and fishing til we drop. So, I would love it if you could suggest some places to book a trip? 1. Destination driving distance is not really an issue, but I don't really want to drive for 12 hours coming from the BIG town of Orangeville. LOL 2. Target species - Pickeral and Pike are the main targets. Other species would be a bonus. 3. No frills, regular cottage or camping I think that should cover it. I look forward to all of your suggestions!! Thank you!!
  22. Hi everyone, Does anyone have a Scugog contour map they can e-mail to me? I remember somebody had one a while ago. Thanks!
  23. Thanks for your help guys! Do you know where I can buy one? I tried looking on their website, but I can't find any dealers in the GTA area for some reason.
  24. Hey everyone, I need to buy a compass and have no clue what to get. Are there important features that I need to look out for? Is there a particular brand that I should buy? I want to use it as a back up to my GPS unit and sometimes I will use it.......well just because I want to learn this "skill". All expertise is greatly appreciated as always! Thank you in advance!
