  1. Thanks for clarifying. MikeH's site links to mine but it is indeed not me. On my homepage I link to OFC, OFF, and a myriad of other sites. It doesn't mean that they're my sites. I found MikeH's articles a few months back and found them to be quite insightful. That's why I replied to this thread here today with a link to his site. This is all I wanted to do, to help somebody looking for more info about fishing Toronto by sharing what I've found.
  2. Hi Roy, I'm being very serious. Fish on Toronto is not me, it's MikeH. He is a real guy and a different guy operating an independent site. Not sure what you mean by spammy, could you clarify? Why did you mention OFF?
  3. hahaha hopefully they're the same as the expensive ones =P. How're the fish going to tell the difference. It's shaped like a critter and it jitters. unless they smell of human or gasoline, LOL
  4. I think it's because a common unethical promotional tactic is pretending to post something of yours as an independent 3rd party. But nope, it's not my website. Read up on urban light fishing. He also outlines some locations around the islands.
  5. Hahaha all you have to do is head to a trib during a salmon run =P
  6. An omnipresent marketing strategy, thanks for pointing it out Craig. I used to do this when I sold my class notes in university. BTW I like your blog, read the post about the vintage reels.
  7. LOL then you'll just be labelled a flosser
  8. Awesome, I'll be waiting! lol 15 days, or longer depending on how many meetings they have scheduled (my dad used to work for the gov't)
  9. Such an epic story. How much $$ does a trip like that run?
  10. Remember guys, possession is even when the fish is filleted in your freezer at home. I'm not joking, it's in the regs. You have to package the meat so that you can identify the fish (skin on). I totally didn't know this until I read the regs more carefully. I'm curious as to this also, unhooking a fish in your hands when you already have your limit...
  11. My impression would be that plastics should be cheaper... because they're consumable after all. Too bad it's the reverse. Tackle isn't cheap, especially for a shore guy like me who can snag lures. Ebay and dollarama.... so far kinda relieve the issue lol.
  12. Yes this isn't good. Pretty soon this will happen: Oh well... I could always start a carp spearing charter....
  13. Yes! There's Pike in Feb/March (when the lake warms above 40ish) and in the Fall you can get monster pike all along the harbourfront! If you're focusing on toronto shore fishing, have a look at MikeH's website http://fishontoronto.com/ MikeH has some amazing must-reads for anybody doing the urban fishing thing.
  14. Consider how many times they actually catch somebody doing something wrong. I'm sure they have a no tolerance policy.
  15. This is on my fishing bucket list. Please let me know how this goes! This year? I want to catch more pike. Go up north and catch a nice one. Haven't seen enough pike action yet.
  16. I used to rely on eBay for saving money on stuff I didn't immediately need. Then I noticed that eBay started Kijiji and I've never looked back. Most of the major things I buy are from postings on kijiji. I've only had good experiences. The worst experience was when my dad and I were shopping for a dirt bike and the guy that was selling it didn't have ownership papers. Oh well, it's nothing a phone call beforehand can't clear up.
  17. At least for me, trying early paid off last Fall at Bronte. What strange weather anything can happen hahaha
  18. Time's ticking!! I haven't hit a pike yet this year. I'm getting desperate LOL.
  19. I spent 2 hours at Frenchman's bay last Sunday because I was in the area. I started fishing the public docks at the base of Liverpool road. Ice: the ice has set in around most of the shallow areas. You're limited to fishing at the docks really. I started by working a red devil spoon along the bottom parallel to all the docks, taking care to not come close to the dock edges and spooking any fish. No luck after about an hour. I switched to a rapala size 7 shad crankbait (silver/black). I worked the slowly around the middle of the water around the bridge and along the docks as well. Nothing. Then I took a stroll down the east and west paths at the base of Liverpool road. The east one brings you alongside the shallow wetland that's iced over. The west one brings you to a "no trespassing" gate. Has that gate ever been opened? It gives you access to all the deeper water! I did get scared by a huge beaver that surfaced just next to me by the docks though. And I got a nice sunset. Nevertheless, I wish there were fish!
  20. First off I want to really thank everyone for all the help I'm getting with this thread. Thank-you! Yeah that's what I thought before the handful of people advised against it. I'll look into a thinner leader instead of the bulky ones I've been using, but still I'll be using one. I knew there were trout, but unsure of how to target them. Do you mean like dead slow dragging along the bottom for moments? I find it hard to get the right speed where it's not draggin on the bottom.
  21. Wonderful post Byan, I loved the read. So cool how you can have the morning and then be back with fish+pictures up by noon. =D
  22. Awesome, I'm assuming a sliding float would be needed to suspend 1' off the bottom. I could use a swivel with a bell sinker to the same effect right?
  23. I still don't understand what Highdrifter said =P. No leader? =S Going in with minnows next time.
  24. Well that's what he said, to go leaderless like he was. He also said he had bites, and well, I didn't get bites. This was my second day at this spot in the past week, and nothing. That's not all, I recognized this guy from a picture on OFF holding some monster pike at this exact spot a month ago. So I knew he meant it. Getting nothing, so I gotta change something right? Also, on the issue of leaders read on here: http://www.ontariofishingforums.com/forum/topic/13587-pike-tips/page__view__findpost__p__223947 Mixed opinions indeed.
