  1. Well I'm not targeting anything, I don't know which or how to target anything. I know that bass bite things that move .... I've had a real hard time finding water with fish in it... let alone to start targetting some fish over others...
  2. Anyone got a good cheap place to buy mepps spinners? I looked on Ebay but they're still about 4,5 dollars each... about twice as much as I want to buy them for xD
  3. Thanks everyone for the advice so far! Thanks for the simple, straight-forward advice. I don't think I've ever gone fishing without having to cut my line at least once. That's a big reason why I've kept my tackle cheap. Not snagging on weeds, but on other unseen things like underwater garbage and underwater wood. Do all shore anglers have this problem? Why the floating jig heads as apposed to the sinking jig heads? I'd love it if you were more specific. "Once I learned how to use them", but how'd you learn how to use them, what did you do differently? Thanks again =P The more detailed the advice is, the better. So guys lemme hear all your details!
  4. Thank-you for clarifying, yes I am shorefishing. A lot of advice I'm getting is for boats and such. Yes I was talking about 3ft of weed-chocked water. Guys please don't assume I know a whole bunch about fishing, I've done it for years but I've gotta admit I haven't the faintest of clue where to find fish. But I haven't lost hope, since one of my friends has a canoe. So what depths should I be looking for this time of year? EDIT: so that all said, the more details the better. =)
  5. Thanks guys I really appreciate all the advice! Cheers!
  6. Hey guys, I've been getting some great advice on the board so far. Figured I'd save some money and buy tackle off Ebay, my friend's already been buying from there. Can anyone recommend tackle/colors? I'm looking for simple, multispecies tackle. Things that have consistently produced for you in the past. Thanks!
  7. Hello everyone, This past Monday morning my friend and I shore fished at the Sibbald Point Provincial Park boat launch. There was a rock outcropping. One side was open lake and the other was dock/weeds. We focused on the open water side... caught tiny perch then left. Which side would YOU concentrate on with which baits/lures and why? I'm really trying to learn as much as possible from experienced anglers because I've never caught anything memorable in my life. (but when I do I'll celebrate here =P) Thanks in advance!
  8. My grandfather taught me how to fish, and his way of fishing is dropping a line with multiple wormed hooks to the bottom and waiting XD! Personally, I've never had any luck with lures. What do I mean by that? Every fish I've ever caught has been on a worm. I've never caught anything big/memorable and I've been fishing since I was a kid. Yesterday and today I fished Frenchman's bay at the base of Liverpool road. I didn't catch anything, but yesterday the guy by the bridge caught a HUGE freshwater drum. It was beautiful! And he was just using a simple silver/black spoon. That enough is proof that I'm doing it wrong and that I should learn how to use lures! That's my story. I'd like to hear your takes on bait vs. lures. But either way, I want to learn how you guys catch your fish and end my dry spell! Thanks a bunch!!! =D
  9. Congrats! My small question about your honey hole ... Was it weedy/covered? By the pic it looks like it was just in open water? I'm totally new and trying to figure out if it's a good idea to fish in wide open water. Thanks!!!
