  1. Thanks Mike, more tackle to buy and try lol. Will try a slow presentation as well. Any particular colors that may work better?.
  2. See,there not working for me. #5 mepps gold or silver, giant killers, and spinner baits, all good. I guess I need to give those a bit more attention.
  3. The wind just tossed that aluminum boat like nothing.Looks like a nice ding in the car though.
  4. John,I love casting hardware in the soft water mths, late in the winter, could not find them for ice fishing though.
  5. Thanks Lew,I knew I could be wrong, still by far the most informative site I've found!!
  6. Sorry Roy,I just haven't seen anyone's status prior to 06.My mistake.
  7. Since 2006(I hope I'm right),biggest and best by far!!!
  8. Because they can Dave, money is no object obviously lol.
  9. Nice fish, you joined the best site of all!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. As mentioned don't go using pike lures or big stuff, that would entice a Pike. worm, small spinner, along those lines should mean you aren't targeting them. You put a line in the water you really could catch anything ,make sure you cover your ,that's all.
  11. I think I'll have to refresh myself with what I have. This was spooled when I bought it,so I would think at least it was the basic standard?
  12. So spring time you think smaller is better as a rule of thumb?
  13. One thing I was suprised at was the Mepps Cyclops 3,I gave that spoon a lot of use,and different speeds, didn't even catch a cold on that. Went back to the 1/2oz terminator in white, good for two plus a day, meaning bigger fish, not 20" fish. Even on the terminator the size of bass compared to the size of the lure . Crazy. It will catch fish all day! I think we under estimate what fish will go after when there hungry.
  14. Is that standard when you buy a leader?,meaning the taper being from 20lb-4/6 lb?
  15. As the season is about to begin for a lot of us in two weeks plus a few days. After all these years fishing that is my favorite fish to catch.Little weird maybe, but bass, crappie, catfish, blue guills, etc, are still alot of fun. Recently watched a show filmed in Manitoba and could not believe the size of pike they were catching with Muskey lures. Some were in the 32-40" size as well as bigger. To see a Pike grab something a quarter or more of there size was crazy. They were using the double 10's and huge suiut stick baits and they could not resist them. Thay even caught a 26" one on one of these. Just thinking maybe I shoudn't be afraid to throw the big ones in Pike waters. I will now try a few big boys at opener to see how it go's. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!.
  16. Also guys I do have lots of mono I could use as a leader. What pound mono test would work in a 8/9 setup?.
  17. Thanks guys, for myself I'll try a 9' looped leader again, and hopefully not break it,and than tie a new tippet on when it gets to short. Maybe I missed something but when I tie my tippet through the loop, should it be tightened as one .Or should I make a loop to loop?.From what I'm reading a looped leader to a looped tippet can work?
  18. I hear he's finding himself now. Watched him pitch last week, when he's on he's a pleasure to watch. The batting is brutal!!.
  19. If I recall last year,BPS didn't carry the leader with a loop at the end. I did ask. I bought the 9' leader and used a nail knot to tie to the fly line if I remember correctly.
  20. It must be a clutch problem,if it's turning when you pull it? usually it would run/idle and not turn till you gave it gas right?
  21. landry, could you resay that it layman terms. lol. From start to finish please . Thanks.
  22. Now I buy a new 9' leader for my 8/9 set up. So I should only break my tippet off with a snag or fish or whatever. I understand the tippet can be as little as 3' from the leader. The question now is if I broke 2' of my tippet because of a snag for instance. Should I just tie another 2' of tippet to the remainder of tippet. If that is correct, how many times can you add knots to your original tippet?. From what I understand you don't want to touch the leader?,correct?
  23. So a leader is a must Bill?,river speaking from me .
  24. Hey,they light it up all night anyways, what a great idea,no extra cost I can see.?Well maybe a goal judge lol.
