  1. Surprising to hear about the moose hunting success. I've been hearing a fair bit lately about some significant declines in moose populations.

Where are you though? Im in NW Ontario. We had a pretty wicked decline for sometime. It's still not "where it once was", but it sure as heck has improved.

Im not even sure what caused the decline??? Logging is probably one factor. Maybe disease???

  2. LOL at all the people that shop at Walmart and claim that they aren't like regular Walmart shoppers :whistling: :whistling:

We have to. No other place in the area sells toddler clothing. Yeah I know, unreal right? But that's truth.

On all our trips we have to buy stuff in advance as the lil seed grows at a rate yet undetermined by science.

    It is what it is

  3. I went to work today and my boss brought me out a bonus beer around 4:45 and said I could go home early!! .. if I made supper! :canadian:

    Lol. That's common "sometimes"

In the oilfield our last shift day the consultant always shut things down at 10am and we had beers and or rye.

The last day of work at the solar project all we did was take down our work shed. Supervisor put us in for a 14 hour day with travel and we worked for an hour and had beers and pizza

There is indeed good folks in higher positions

  4. We have profit sharing. Sometime good, sometimes not. I shouldnt really say not though. I am there to do a job, and get payed for that job. A bonus is nice, but I never ever, count on it.

    No doubt!

When I worked for weyehauser we got this. I was laid off due to the sale of the mill I was very surprised with what came in the mail a month or so later.

At that age I didn't even know what profit sharing was lol

  5. You go into work Friday morning to pick up your pay and instead of your regular pay envelope there is just a plain white envelope in your mail slot with your name on it?

I kind of looked at it and went "oh oh" but I was in a hurry and everyone seemed busy so I just took it and left.

I drove down the road and pulled into a parking lot and opened the envelope. I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a beautifully written letter thanking me for my loyalty and dedication to the companies profitability; a totally unexpected $100.00 compensation for attending a meeting that I hadn't expected any compensation for at all; and a very nice unasked for raise in pay!

Way to make a guy proud of the company he works for and want to do even more if he can!

    :clapping:

    Nice!

I got that often with RRFN. Anywhere from $500 to $1000

And amazingly it always seemed to come at a great time(hockey registration or something like that)

Super awesome when your company realizes your work and dedication!

    Congrats cliff!!¡

  6. thats not true, there was very potent pot in the 70's,its just that the commercial stuff (imported)was weak, but very abundant.....

you just had to be connected to get the genetics

    Averages bro.

Of course good stuff was still available. Just not as readily available. I hash from some regions has been amazing forever, good luck finding landstrains back then though

  7. This place:

and the home-made buns are also exceptional, serve yourself as many as you want from the salad bar.

One of the best restaurants I have been in, and that number is well into the hundreds...........

................but too far to travel from Kingston!

    Doug

Thanks Doug!!!! I will go with the wife next time for sure

  8. Walmart prices aren't great for many items.

Ours doesn't even sell meat, not that I'd ever buy it there. I'll stick to the local butchers that offer better prices, great quality and well I know them and I'd rather see them stay in business.

But, in this area Walmart is the ONLY place to get certain things. We mainly get toddler clothing/shoes there, as no one else in the area sells them.

The joys of rural living lol

  9. I have to believe that middle of nowhere Walmart is a better shopping experience than in the middle of everything Walmart! I haven't been in a Walmart in four years! When I shop, I want a shopping experience, not a example of bad behaviour and poor child raising techniques... But fully understand Rick.

    HH

    Yep!

Even our Walmart you gotta time it out. Don't go on a welfare day that's for sure!

I was just in thunderbay so we loaded up on goods we needed at much better stores

  10. They sure have good food here at the Victoria in. That's my wife's plate and it looks sloppy. It's actually meatloaf.

    But damn it was tasty!

I got seafood stuffed mushrooms with chicken breast encrusted in black pepper corns, and what they call a twice baked potatoes but it's not your traditional twice baked potatoes. It's actually mashed potatoes, chive and bacon, cooled, then breaded and fried, served on a bed of aoli and boy the food was perfect!
