There was 4 of those abus out on the ice in our group on saturday. Look like decent rods but the fella that was using them sure took a lashing lol. Everytime his or his sons rods fired he had a hard time telling where to go haha, he missed a few good bites. If you were jigging id see no issue, or in a hut. But out in the white stuff those rods are VERY hard to see
lol, leader isnt the answer. But it can make things easier if your not experienced in fighting fish. 15-20 lb braid you should have zero reason to lose a fish.but an 80lb leader should allow you to remove cement blocks from the depths below haha
lol very true. I've always used fishfinders in the boat but never used them optimally. I always used then for structure and speed for trolling. Now im mad lol. Ive missed out on alot
Yeah i seen that. Didnt need the flasher though. Had a hell of a time finding the ping speed lol, just a dummy. Once i found it i was like d'oh! Hahha its right there
Good points bill ans limey. Also i see alot of less experienced anlgers lift fish near the boat, ot too much pressure. These two things result in breaks almost every time. When i fish gators im using a cheap set up too but it does the job. 6"7 or 6"9 shimano rod from walmart lol, and 15-20 braid, either suffix 832 or powerpro. I dont use leaders for pike fishing at all, its not needed IMO
I woulda had 3 less fish for sure if i didnt have this unit. When i missed bites i could see exactly what was going on under the ice, and was able to entice bites within seconds. So fun watching what was going on. I had a deadstick going for abit, then all the fish moved. I put on a lipless crank and could watch numerous fish come back to examine then hit. So cool
there is current, pretty heavy actually, but of to my right is where i caught that bigger walleye, that was right in the eddie. Ice is great though, no slush came up at all, and the water was insanely clear so no fluctuations in water levels
Touched up! What an awesome day. Loving my elite 4x. . Caught about 12 in all. Some big eyes and pike. Action was good enough that we missed some pics just being too busy. Great first day on hardwater
