Raf that looks tasty!
Whats with anglers? We should all be chefs hahahaha

My wife has zero issues with me buying fishing gear.
She hates fishing and hates the outdoors, unless its for foraging.
See the thing is, if im out in the bush, fishing or camping, 90% of the time I have my kids with me. So for her its a well deserved break.
Only time Ive ever got in crap was when I bought gear before I payed bills and came up a lil short. But thats totally understandable.
Even then i dont have much gear. Maybe two grand in tackle, about 14 rods/reels, sonar, and a bunch of ice rods. Its really not that much considering i spent 5-6 years accumulating my gear.
I feel for you guys that have to hide stuff lol. She probably already knows hahaha, women arent stupid

Venison roast already in the crock pot lol.
Mines not bacon wrapped but thanks for the idea spiel!
By the way, that dish looks INCREDIBLE!

Ive done this for large family gatherings and it works perfect(call me cheap but im not buying 30 new york strips lol)
I prefer to salt the day before, rinse, then add tome turmeric or bromalaine and again let sit and rest/rinse.
I always have my steak at or near room temp before cooking.
The only thing ill use for marinade is worchestshire sause (however the heck ya spell it lol)

Overseed and water in fall and spring.
Healthy grass chokes out weeds. It takes time though.
Let your grass grow. Dont mow it constantly. Let it get 5-6" then mow it.
It takes a year or two, but chemicals are not needed, just patience

Some interweb driving rage up in here hahaha.
Lots of dummies out there driving vehicles irresponsibly.
Pay attention and like bill said, light any car that almost hit you, on fire.
Have a real good lawyer on speed dial as well???

I think our system is good. But I also think it has alot of room for improvement.
-
Your right irishfeild.
Different countries have drastic differences. We still have it relatively good.
Fact is we shouldnt pay to be healthy and happy.
If your sick/illness/disease, why should you pay anything?
The whole ideology of this is drastically flawed.
IMO

Take a few pictures and post it to social media .
Seems to be the new way of justice lol

WE Ontarians pay a Heath tax on our employment earnings. I just discovered that eye exams are NOT covered for people 20 - 64! So if you don't have private insurance coverage you are on your own! I have coverage but a lot of us don't.
So why are we paying for this Heath tax. The last time I had mine checked it was covered every TWO years, when did this change?
This just came up in a family conversation as I argued with my daughter that she was covered under OHIP?
As this government the system and never told us?
Why are we selling electricity to the US for 2.4 cents a KW and we have ro pay for basic Heath services?
I just got dinged on this about a month ago. $90 I wasn't expecting to pay.

Anyone ever try olives stuffed with horseradish?

Now that the warmer weather is on it's way I'm going to be starting to make my home made bacon again in about another week, it is so much better than anything you can buy in the store. You have no idea how much better it is without all the nitrates, the one I am doing is all natural cured then smoked.
Still have a bit of work to do on perfecting the smoking, I did the last batch with hickory and it was good but just a little strong on the smoke side. Going to try maple and apple as well.
My butcher likes it so much he has asked me to do some more for him (he gives me a really good deal on the pork bellies though).
I am going to up size my smoker slightly this year, has anyone got a bar fridge that doesn't work anymore (or that they want to get rid of). I am also working on a new model cold smoke generator, the one I have now works well but I know I can make it better!
At this rate I need to live another 70 years just to get all these projects done LOL.
Homemade bacon.
Very intrigued.
Sounds amazing?

Hahaha right on man.Ohhh dang! Looks like a good cook! I knew I liked you.... Pepsi drinkers unite! Hate Coke... Can't stand the stuff.
Show us the finished product
I spend too much time on the food network channel
G
Yep ill post the finished product tonight.
I really like this recipe because of the moisture makes the meat fall right off the bone. Its easier for my kids to eat and they go nuts over the sauce.
I actually prefer mine boiled then bbq'd.
But these are delish, and seriously takes maybe 10 minutes prep. Then ya just sit back and enjoy the smell as it fills the house lol
-
Up early and bored today, so my daughter and I decided to make some crock pot ribs?
Super easy but tasty nonetheless.
Here is a few pics(ill post finished product in about 7 hours lol)
First step, get some ribs
Second make a simple sauce. I use 4 cups brown sugar, 4 cups ketchup, 4 cups vinegar, a nice dollap of minced garlic and add a pepsi.
Let it heat up in the crock pot abit then whisk until smooth.
Add in your ribs, cook on low for whatever lol, 7 or 8 hours and you have delish and simple ribs.
Drain fat outta sauce when done, add sauce on top of some rice and serve with some steamed broccoli.
And make sure your "helper" does the dishes and cleans off the working surfaces lol

Alton is a great chef and cook, and he follows the science very well. I love watching his shows.
But hes not a nutritionist.
Limeys version of fish here, compared to a fried walleye is really a moot point, if you added one fillet of fried walleye in exchange, youd basically have a carbon copy from a nutritional standpoint.
Although I like simons cooking method much better, the walleye is less denatured, same with the bacon.
however, the two most important things I see in this dish(outside of looking fantastically delishious) is one, the portion size, and two, the addition of veg.
when you consume fats and carbohydrates, veg, especially fibrous, slows gastric emptying. As does the protein of the fish. This lowers the glycemic response of the meal to a nice trickle, instead of a spike increasing insulin drastically. Insulin works as a storage hormone, so the steadyness of that effects the healthy aspect of any meal really.
this in effect is whats called "nutrient partitioning". Basically meaning youve set up your meal in a manner that the body can reap the most benefit of the macronutrients and the micronutrients.
the micros and macros(especially the micros) are damaged by frying. This is why id prefer, from a nutritional standpoint, limeys method. But its one meal. If you designed a study, it would conclude, further testing needs to be done, as results proved to be clinically Non statistical
hope this makes sense, or I at least helped some people go back to sleep???

Holy man its been a few years and my tackle has changed abit.
Maybe ill post up some new pics, you know, for insurance purposes lol

At my age!!! Why I autta. Actually at my age I'll take anything I can get Guy.
Hahaha love your sense of humor???
-
You need the fiber at your age sir.Food Art that tastes great too. They can keep surf and turf and I'll keep my money in my pocket. You can wrap fresh Walleye in old newspapers and it would still be great.
Great looking plate!!!!
