  1. Had a weird instance about 10 years ago.

We were working/ fishing a lake in Northern Ontario and the walleye were on fire.

One night, the bite stops. Cold. We can't figure out why until we see the

Whoops. Fell asleep before I finished this will edit later.

Classic bait end switch! Epic ending???

    TELL US NOW!!!

  2. Did someone say Kwikfish? :D

I don't own a boat, but do occasionally back down various lures like Kwikfish, hotshots, hot n' tots, wiggle warts, shad raps and river rockers into log jams and hold them there. When the temps are up like in fall or late spring, I prefer casting and retrieving. In winter, I find dropping plugs back and holding them in the current is much more effective than casting. In winter, steelhead really don't want to chase lures. If you have ability to back lures into log jams with a boat, you can do really well even in the dead of winter.

Depending on the lure you're running, you'd be surprised at how little current is required to get decent action out of some plugs (kwikfish being one if you have some weight up the line). Others like hot n tots and wiggle warts require a bit more current to get them down and working.

    Win the lottery? Nice collection!!!

  3. Goeff, I use top waters for walleye in spring fall. All shallow.

One thing ill say is from shore, cast the edges. Casting straight out will likely be naddas

Lotsa walleye sit in a foot or two of water this time of year.

Black Zara spooks and the jr model are my go too.

I know it's too late, just for future reference

  4. You'll find out soon hahahaha!

I'd imagine it's just like everything else ya pay for.

My higher end st. Croix rods are amazing, same with my shimano rods, but two of my staples are a Berkley lightening rod that was maybe $50 and a Shakespeare rod from Walmart that I think was even cheaper???

  5. Where do you guys get the "the rate the fish hooks rust is astonishing" facts? I don't think they rust out that quickly. I've found many lures underwater from previous seasons with hooks still intact. Depends on the hook and gauge.

I've often wondered what happens to fish with lures stuck in their faces. There's info and a few studies available online. The most likely scenario probably is that it will shake or shed the hook somehow before it rusts. I've toiled over a few lost fish before, feeling guilty I may be the cause of it's demise. But apparently fish are good at ridding hooks. And if not, good chance it will still be able to eat. Don't worry about it!

    You are correct!

Obviously there is a few variables.

But that hook is NOT rusting out before a fish shakes it.

Even northland jigs will last a long time and their hooks suck. I think they are gammies but I could be wrong?

Just outta curiosity I grab some hooks and river water and see how long before they disintegrate. My guess is 4 years

  6. The man single handedly put "Golf" into the homes and onto the courses of North America. He made it cool to golf when it was a game for the privileged only.

    Absolutely!

"Hit it hard, then go find it. Hit it hard again"

    Hahah love it!

  7. Awesome Simon!

We do ours end of July. Its only been 6 years but it's stuck for good.

Our crew is pretty big too so yeah we push it on the boat too. I'm not making 6 trips into mainville lol

One load of people, one load of camping gear and a few more people hahaha

Simon is turning into quite the established outdoorsman!!!! I bet alot of his friends are jelous!!!

  8. I know that feeling too well Dutch!

I consider myself very lucky to have 2 wicked shore spots in my backyard.

Because sometimes that "pull" comes when im very busy, and because of these spots, I can still get out for an hour or two.

Heck sometimes ill go all day, or 4 times a day.

This time of year is amazing!
