  1. An "ok" report, but kinda sketchy on the details!.. what were they hitting, and how deep were they and in how many feet of water???... this is vital "need to know information"!!!

OH stop your wining soggy he deserves a much better compliment than that .You just come up in November we will get ya some big eyes.

Now open the back door go for a swim and cool off. :w00t: Side console folks are sooooooooo moody.

Nice wack of fish man thanks for the pics.I can't wait until November.

    :thumbsup_anim:

  2. Ummmm OK.... somehow I knew this was coming :jerry:

Now I really feel much better about this :glare:

Here is what went down just before I was drop on shore to get the Sunfire.... I recall Paul saying to back her up towards where he let me off, to the right of the launch and that is what I did..... but this launch have seen the Sunfire before without any glitches.

When we go out fishing, I always go get the car and back it up for Paul so he can get the boat on the trailer and never had any problems so far until then.

This time I was 12" too much on the right..... the launch, if you want to call it that, is very shallow and to get to boat off the trailer or onto it, the car needs to be backed into a couple of feet of water.

This time I backed the car in the same spot as usual but while I was backing up I saw the trailer jump a couple of times and not paying attention to it much..... should of pulled out and re positioned it but once I hit the breaks, I hear Paul yell "BACK UP" so I proceeded to hit the throttle but what I didn't know was the back tire on the right hand side was just sitting flush on the front a big rock...... and once I got over it..... heard a big THUMP and that was that

The frame of the car on the rear right was sitting on top of this big rock :wallbash:

Then I hear Paul yell "BACKUP" "BACKUP" but there was no way the car would budge off

So Paul got the boat off the trailer and went to shore.... when he got close to the car he said "DONT TURN IT OFF" so I sat in the driver seat while Paul unpinned the trailer, he tried to jack it up off the rock with the car jack.

Tried to drive off while jacked but this attempt was unsuccessful and got the front end to dig deeper..... I then saw smoke coming off the front of the hood..... so Paul said to pop the hood up..... I then hear "TURN IT OFF".

At this point Paul thought the motor overheated and the rad was leaking.... not good news at all  so we decided to walk to the property owners house that was 2KMs away, when we got there, like Paul mentioned, nobody home...... THEN WHAT..... We were in a no cell phone zone and could not call for help...

so we proceeded to go back and try to get the car out..... by then it was pitch dark.... got our flash lights and started to look for some piece of lumber.... we found a couple of 2"x 8s" and started to jack the right side....

got it high enough to slip one piece of lumber under the right front wheel and positioned the other piece under the frame to try and pry it off the rock.... we were successful in prying the car frame off the top of the rock so we wanted to do the same on the left but while I was cranking the jack down.... it broke :w00t:

Paul popped the hood up again and was looking to see if the rad was leaking.... It turned out that when the front of the car sunk a few inches deeper, the fan was slightly submerged in water causing it to throw water into the rad and hence the smoke....... boy o boy that was good news!!!

Then Paul sat down in the driver's seat, started the car and put it reverse.... got it back far enough that when he put it in forward, drove right off onto dry land :clapping:

Was I ever happy to see the car off shore :worthy:

Then we had to get the trailer out by hand and pin it to the hitch of the car.... Paul repositioned the rig, stopped and got out of the car and said "OK JACQUES..... PART TWO" backed the car out some more and got the boat onto the trailer and the rest is history.

We still had a good day out on the water and after driving a few kilometers we had a good laugh about it.... we weren't in any real danger but the though of seeing the car in that position and in water somehow just did not make sense.

For those that ask if we caught fish.... read my report... it has all the specifics and pics of the day.

    Jacques

Now that was really funny Brian my coca cola almost came flying out of my nose bahahahahahaha.

Seriously I hope your car is going to be OK Paul .I hope it will not smell of mildew for the rest of its life.

Now we know Jacques is feeling really bad like others said he was just trying to help. Crap Happens.

  4. That is a fantastic report Mike.

I can particularly relate to your bringing a friend along. It was during trips to Bobcaygeon with my friend Mike's family that I got hooked on fishing and cottaging (I was about 13 as well). Whether you or he realize it or not you are giving him fond memories that will last forever. I love to see it.

    Thanks again!

    Jim

Nothing makes me feel better when you bring new kids fishing I really know it changes their life.

This boy was so happy sunday even the boat ride had him smiling from ear to ear.

Thanks for that positive comment. So true. :Gonefishing:

  5. There's just one pic Mike! ;)

When you first posted today I saw all the pics and no comments very weird. And now it looks OK.

    :dunno:

Ya I know this one was bleeding like a tap Percher wanted me to get her back in the water pronto.

Nope snoring is almost cured it is very low that is for sure more like loud breathing. My daughters say the grizzly bear has gone into hibernation.

I actually get a better nights sleep now although I still have a sore throat. Not quite heeled.

On the positive side all that weight I lost has not come back and I plan on keeping it that way.

I have been watching what I eat but the operation helped me lose 12 more pounds.

So I have lost 24lbs in 5 weeks.

See ya soon in chilly land GCD!!!!!!!!!! :w00t::Gonefishing::santa:

  6. Well I am a little overdue to post some fishing reports.

Have not been in the boat for a few weeks because it took me a couple of weeks to recover from Laser surgery to eliminate my snoring.

I did go shore fishing a week ago in Long-Sault but just a skunking .

    Anyhoo here are the pics.

In August I went down to Perchers and tried our luck at salmon Fishing hoping to reel in the big one in hopes of winning a

new truck or boat. That didn't happen but man I really like this salmon fishing thing.

Percher put us on fish as usual .Too bad we had to lose quite a few fish.

Good to hear TonyB won himself a boat this year another OFNer.

I was fishing out of last years winning boat.

On with pics oops did I say that twice.

  7. That would take some hanging on to in rough weather wide open.

Not so easy to launch either

Now Dara why would a Tiller boat like the Pro Guide be more difficult to launch than a boat with a sterring wheel.

I have had both if anything driving the boat onto the trailer is easier with a tiller because you don't have to back at the motor

to make sure its staight to drive it on the trailer.

  8. Got his in my email today being at home this week thought I would share this with you all eventhough I am a k-Becer

    Welcome to Ontario

Just in Time for Summer Vacation

THE RULES OF RURAL ONTARIO ARE AS FOLLOWS

    Listen up, City Slickers!

    1. Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot.

    2. Turn your cap straight; your head isn't crooked.

    3. Let's get this straight...it's called a 'dirt road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way.

    4. They are cattle. They're live steaks. That's why they smell funny to you. But they smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? Hwy 7 & 401 goes east and west, Hwy 15 & 416 goes north and south. Pick one.

    5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $150,000 combines and hay balers that are driven only 3 weeks a year.

    6. So every person in rural Ontario waves. It's called 'being friendly'. Try to understand the concept.

    7. If that cell phone rings while an 8-point buck and 3 does are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time.

    8. Yeah, we eat meat and potatoes.. You really want sushi & caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop.

    9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer hunting season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.

    10. We open doors for women. That is applied to all women, regardless of age.

    11. There's little for 'vegetarians' on the menu. Order steak. Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham & turkey.

    12. When we set a table, there are three main dishes: meats; vegetables; and breads. We use three spices: salt; pepper; and ketchup.

    13. You bring 'coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice.

    14. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.

    15. Ontario Hockey League and Minor Hockey are as important here as the Maple Leafs and Montreal Habs, and more fun to watch.

    16. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish.

    17. Colleges? We have them all over. We have Universities and Community Colleges. They come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays.

    18. We have a whole ton of folks in the Armed Forces. So don't mess with us. If you do, you will get whipped by the best.

    19. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers. (Refer back to #1).

    20. TWO inches of snow & ice isn't a blizzard - it's a vacation. Drive like you got some sense in it, and DON'T take all our bread, milk, and bleach from the grocery stores. This ain't Alaska, worst case you may have to live a whole day without croissants. The pickups with snow blades and tractors with snow blowers will have you out the next day.

A true Ontarian will send this on!!!

  9. ok

    enough

how come every time there is talk about quinte or sheephead my picture with that thing ends up on the internet

it must be someone else's turn

so everyone delete my picture or burn it, whichever makes you feel better

burning is what does it for me

    thank you for your cooperation

    LOL

like that is going to happen

    LOL

I have to post that shot of the big sheepy Terry its the biggest one I have ever seen its a classic hold with those huge thick work gloves.

I caught some big sheepy's last year your welcome to post them to get back at me.

The Sheepy's never seemed to find Lloyds boat.

  10. Nice to see ya getting into more Walleye last year your pike reports were plentyful.

    Nice pike BTW.

How come you don't have any buddies to join you on your adventures?

Just don't invite them in that tent I saw it last week man it is small but does the job

  11. Is this Covered by OHIP?

Unfortuantely Henry it is not covered by Quebec medicare.I am hoping it will be covered some what by private insurance but I don't think it will be.

It costs $1000.00 well worth it if the operation is successful as snoring is not good for ones health.

Right now I am in extreme pain it looks like I am not going to work in the morning.

I have been eating lots of Mr,Freeze cold soup ,pudding and Jello and lots of pain Killers.

Sure would like to hear from someone who had the procedure done.

    MTP

  12. Well here it is another veteran goes over the 10000 mark.

I must say Dog I enjoy your threads and your feedback.

I like the way you contribute to this fishing board.

I really like it when you get the new guys all riled up until they figure out that your just a razzing them

So keep on making us laugh you Old Dawg!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
