  1. I am interested in possibly taking my kids too. More info onthe jumping fish please!! Thanks again to all.
  2. Yeah it is and thanks for all the replies.
  3. Man is to blame for the decline in Walleye ask the average person what local fish they like the most the pickerel is the #1 answer. Only anglers know Crappie to be better (and even that is debatable for many) On the way up to our trailer on an indian reserve there is a Chip truck that sells pickerel and fries wonder how many they are getting to meet demands. Anyways I am hoping to get some Crappies when our trailer opens in May we go up on the 4th of May to open.
  4. I did some searching but couldn't find much info. I want to fish my local creek/river here because I know that we get Steelheads and Salmon coming up. My questions are how far up do they come? I live in the north end and I am hoping to quickly jog up the road and throw a few casts after work possibly when the season opens up and what would I use to catch them other than a roe etc. Are there any lures in particular that I might be able to catch something with. My final question is would or have you eaten anything out of the Oshawa creek or even Lake Ontario for that matter because I love Rainbow trout. I have seen some mighty big dead guys in a park close to where I live but I don't know if these are ones offs and died because they came up this far or if they actually venture up in nice numbers. Any tips or areas would be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Anyone fished the Oshawa creek for these? I am thinking of giving it a Try but more in the North End anyone know if they reach that high? I know I have seen some dead by this park we used to take the kids to but I have never seen anyone fish there before.
  6. Oh they have your name etc. We got a letter yesterday from Unemployment because we went to Florida last November (from donations for my sons Cancer) and now they want to take back my wifes EI for those 2 weeks because she wasn't available to work as she had stated. ALL of the money we spent down there was donations to my son and we never touched my pay or her EI once it went towards rent, life etc. I assure you we can not afford a trip to forida on our own. Reason they found out was the customs declaration form, even states it in the letter. We wrote a hand written response and if they persue it further we will be going to the media about it and also that we now get audited every single year when we do our taxes because we have so much medical expenses to claim. I totaly understand where they are coming from but given our situation or others for that matter and the reason for the trip they could cut some slack every now and again. You actually pay into EI not like welfare hence the name employment "insurance". I know people that have worked for years and never had to file a claim and then when they do they get the same crap in return. Even better is they are sitting on a massive surplus no doubt due to like this.
  7. Bumpin this up because someone had given me some maps of Rice lake on the old forum and I can't seem to find them. Anyone still have these maps layin about? They had depths etc Thanks
  8. I have been in contact with her father this is the link to the site http://www.laurengillie.ca/ Story is too close to my own I wish them the best and I am sorry to the poster above who also went through the same.
  9. Thanks again for the response. We contacted these guys today in email and got a response back right away. They told us to contact our insurance so we did again as they need a claim number to come out to look. It is a $500 deductable and they are not sure if they are going to cover it all I guess they depreciate the value according to how old the trailer is? even for an awning? When we got the insurance we asked for full coverage which we were told we had my wife had already contacted them when this first happened and they assured us of this and told us to contact them back in the spring when the park re opened now they are giving us a hard time because it happened last fall!!! The RV place would not give us even a rough idea on cost and now insurance is stating they will only cover a certain portion this is getting crazy. Anyways thanks again and hopefully we shall have an awning again!!
  10. They may fight out of fear who knows only a fish.
  11. Thank you Big Cliff it's appreciated. The Father of Lauren actually left me an email this morning so maybe we can shoot the odd email back and forth for support being through this for a while now I know how much it is needed. Again thanks to all who support this having similar done for us I know what difference it can make.
  12. Yeah we did call them this is going back to the fall though so I am sketchy on the details but even they needed a quote to move forward If I remember correct. I think we have a $500 deductable and the first quote we got wasn't much more so we were thinking of just doing it ourselves since our rates would go up. I need to talk to the wife more about it again but I still need places that do the repairs though and will actually come out to the trailer to do it. Thanks again. Edit: I talked to the wife on the way into work and it is like I remembered the insurance needed quotes and we do have to shell out the $500 just to get them to take care of it. If it isn't much more we will just pay for it ourselves so our rates don't go up. Thanks again and if you guys can think of any more places it would be appreciated.
  13. A friend from out there sent me this in email a few days before you posted this here hoping I could give some words of encouragement but I have had too much to deal with to post here and over there My Grandma passed away and just this week my Dad went into the hosptial for cancer as well. Her website is http://www.laurengillie.ca/ if anyone is interested. My son is going through something too similar and has had brain Cancer now for 3 years but an extremley rare type. When my friend sent the link it hit home on too many levels his eye pulls the same way on the left side (from surgery though) and on her site there are pics of the radiation masks which we know too well. My son is now the 2nd child in Canada to be re-radiated he is part of a study that includes St. Judes down in Florida and the last time we were there they had a guy from Tokyo to see him(who could barely speak English). He has had surgery now two times and a series of Chemo that last around 7 weeks in total. Alot of people have helped us over the last 3 years we have been to Florida 2 times and our Trailer was bought from Donations to Gibson (Thanks to Give kids the world village, The Children's Wish foundation and Make a wish). We plan to donate through the link that I posted above since we are currently in a better financial situation. Thank you for posting this here for Lauren and if anyone wishes to donate to Sick kids in TO (maybe some can't meet up with the above etc) as well it would be appreciated by us as well as these folks no doubt. We spend a lot of time there and every time I buy coffee or food all of my change goes into the containers they have laying around the place. For those who have never had a kid in there (and I hope you don't) they are really amazing they go well out of their way to make your kids and you feel at home. Best wishes to the little girl and thanks to all who contribute. My son has a site at http://www.caringbridge.org/ you have to type in gibsonmaidansky under the visit page. Dylan Maidansky
  14. Amazing. Can't add much more great thread. All of the pics are great.
  15. Thank you for the reply and sorry it took so long. Anyone else no anywhere? I am hoping to get a best quote if possible. Thanks again Dylan
  16. Last couple years Avi and DivX players have dropped in price are you sure your player can't play them first? You can fit alot more on a disc leaving them the way they are and converting does not always have great results. As above though Nero can convert them itself you just want to use the standard Nero app and follow the steps.
  17. Can't be much worse than getting a tattoo and I like getting them I love to fish but I don't hunt reason being no catch and release... Can't remember the last guys I met up with that caught and released a Buck. If one was to hunt me I would be happy to get just a hook in the mouth if I knew I was going to live, If not then just make it quick.
  18. Man they look yummy. Thanks for the shots and welcome.
  19. These are nice are there pics like these for Rice lake and the area.
  20. Trailer opens in May I plan to fish!!! No more plans as of yet!!!
  21. Anyone know of a decent Trailer or RV parts and repair shop in the Rice Lake vicinity? We have a trailer out in Hastings and doing a search on google pulls up millions of pages but mostly Parks and not dealers etc. Last year in a storm our awning ripped off due to excessive wind and me being too semi-poluted and lazy to go pull it down. Basicaly the arms ripped right off so we need to get this repaired this spring when the park opens in May. We live out in Oshawa though so driving around is not exactly an option right now. Thanks
  22. Site is pretty clean. There would be more blood around if it was an animal attack. Also there are tracks behind it I would bet there are foot prints from a human.
  23. 8,000 gallons of toxic chemicals spill into Ohio River BROOKPORT, Illinois (CNN) -- As many as 8,000 gallons of a toxic solvent spilled into the Ohio River Wednesday after a barge hit an underwater dam, Coast Guard and Illinois state officials told CNN. Lt. Wayne Chapman of the U.S. Coast Guard said the barge, owned by Kirby Marine, hit the wicket dam, which is a type of movable dam, near Brookport and began leaking cumene, a solvent used to produce other chemicals. So far, officials said, there's no threat to public drinking water. Water intake stations along the river have not reported finding the chemical in their systems, Chapman said. The solvent floats on top of water and easily evaporates, he added. Maggie Carson of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency told CNN's Fredricka Whitfield that experts are trying to determine the environmental impact of the spill. "There's a tremendous volume of water going through there, so there's a dilution factor, and this will be taken into consideration as they try to take measures to contain it," she said. Kirby Marine is working to get another barge to the site to offload the rest of the cumene from the ruptured barge, Chapman said. And they are worried about drinking water. read about it here. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/28/toxic.spill/index.html
