  1. I'm either going to fish Balsam or Cameron. My cottage is on Cameron so I would rather fish it but if I can take a few pike out of the system I'm up for that. So did anyone catch a pike ice fishing on Balsam? If so where? I know some guys fished South Bay last year but have not read a report of any pike being caught.
  2. For bass I've done well near the mouth of the Holland River but for pike you need to go deeper. I tend to troll in anywhere from 8-12 fow water.
  3. Sorry to hear that. I'll keep an eye out as well.
  4. Yep, Lake St Clair. I just wish it was closer to home. I normally fish Balsam as I can be on the lake in under two hours.
  5. Fished LSC from the 11th to the 14th with only one muskie. Had a good time though and learned some along the way. First time out in my new boat so it was difficult not to have a good time. Had two on fishing the hump one on a board and the other on the long line. My father caught a 39" muskie in 15fow out from the Thames. We were going through a weed bed and just as the weeds were thinning out it hit. My fathers largest fish so he was happy and so was I. He just comes along for the ride really but he has fun. He was using a perch shad. I had also dropped my speed down to 3mph. Stayed at the Belle River Yacht Club and it was great. Perfect for a bunch of guys going fishing. Rooms were clean and its right on the Belle River. If your doing the family thing though Deerbrook is better. I'm thinking of going back in Sept. or Oct.
  6. I have had good luck on the south and east side of Thora Island.
  7. I'm heading to LSC on Monday for a few days and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips. I have fished LSC in July and Aug. but never in June. Last year I was there the first week in July and had good luck straight out from the Ruscom River in about 17fow. Stoney Point was good as well. I'm thinking that it is a little deep for this time of year. I'm thinking more Pike Creek and Askins in more like 10-14 fow. I understand Anchor Bay is the best spot this time of year but I would rather stay on the Canadian side.
  8. Congrats!!! Nice to catch one on the opener.
  9. Good luck! I'm heading there next week for a few days. Looking forward to your report.
  10. I ordered a new boat and if it gets here on time I'll be out on LSC from the 11th to the 14th. Can't wait!!!
  11. If you assume the guy really thought they were bass and out of season then he still took the law into his own hands. He should have called the MNR.
  12. Thanks for posting that. I have got to let my wife hear it.
  13. I haven't fished it in years but when I did it was for bass. We would just wade in and cast. Good lake for bass but we never caught a pike but I guess they are in there.

  16. Home Depot will be the best price. You could also try e-bay.
  17. I have read that muskie feeding activity peaks at around 65 degrees but that they will be active from 55 to 75 degrees. When one reads about water temp. is that surface temp?
  18. Sad news but I guess thats the way things are going. I really only go to two places for fishing stuff. One a small guy and the other LeBarons. Funny I was so happy when I heard that BPS was coming to the area because I was sick of dealing with LeBarons. Then the store opened and they didn't carry Excalibur crossbows after making a big point of being in Canada and selling Canadian products. Glad they carry Excalibur now though. Anyway that sent me back to Lebarons. Funny thing happened. Once BPS was open the service at LeBarons got a lot better. I avoid BPS if I can and try and give my bussiness to Lebaron or Fishing Depot. If you fish for muskie BPS isn't much use to you anyway.
  19. I'm planning a trip to LSC. I plan to be there from around the 11th of June to the 15th. Any tournaments the weekend prior? I have fished LSC before but in July and Aug. I was there the first week in July last year and I was told the fishing was bad in June is that the norm?
